Forgotten Heroes of the Somme

Over the top lads, for old Blighty! Hold the colours high!
Say a little prayer for me, for this summer day we die.
My brothers from the ripened field and blackened mill, shop floor,
Your brother in a killing field to fight a rich man’s war.

In bloodied mud and shattered wood, fight legions of the brave,
Unwitting youth, you’ll do your duty until you’re in the grave.
A sergeant greets a fresh-faced boy, “welcome to the slaughter!”
Here you die from three diseases, bullet, gas or mortar.

In arms we fight together and in leaden hails we pass,
We die amongst the filth and stench that once was verdant grass.
“In the morning we will remember them” we hear the leaders call,
Those fickle words of history, will not remember us all.

Forty Today

Visited you today
as the sun set in the horizon…

the orange tinged carnations
were a perfect complement
for the skies
and for you…
orange and blue
always remind me of you

the winds softly blew
and I just sat there
staring at the grass,
well more at your name really…

hardly believing
what I am looking at,
that it’s been seven years

of missing you,
of just putting that reality
at the back of my mind…

But there are days,
such as today
which make me
confront that reality—

I see your smile,
remember your laughter
celebrate your spirit
and your love

Tears, I tell you I have
the most stubborn tears
maybe because they
make it so real for me?

I look around me
and look for that sign

Nope, not there…

I say a prayer
and speak to you
thankful for the life shared

I kiss the date that you were born

and walk away

my reflection on the car window

One last look around,

and then I see it…

a cat, as we drive away…

Skies now streaked purple and pink

**My brother would have been 40 today, May 6…

I Wish You'd Grow Faster

"Boy! We're gonna be the best of friends! Lying here, I watch you sleeping, I sure hope that this will not be a trend 'Cause when we play ball, the goal you'll be keeping Since Mommy told me you would be coming I've been waiting for a very long time Now each day I see how much you're growing Imagine the joy of knowing you're here and are mine! From the first moment you arrived home I've noticed when you sleep, time goes pretty slow And sometimes, you seem to sleep just like a stone! But that's ok! Mommy says sleeping makes you grow I smile as I imagine the two of us at play And picture in my mind the many things we'd learn We'll pet horses at the zoo and feed them hay Come Christmas we'll buy gifts with money we'll earn I love you, my 'lil brother, Lucas I wish you'd hurry up and grow Yes, we will be causing some rocus I'll teach you all you need to know!" ~*~

I found you crying in the closet when you were only five
A walk-through closet that opened onto both our bedrooms
You had a bad dream didn’t know where to turn
Mom and Dad weren’t home left us with Uncle Joe
but he always went to bed right after supper
And he wasn’t our uncle just a lonely old man
who stayed on when we rented his house

You were my little brother so I took you to my bed
Later you told me I petted you like a little lost puppy
The next morning I helped you make your bed
Our first chore of the day making beds
smoothing and tucking covers
erasing signs of disturbed nights
Making neat what was chaos
We didn’t realize we were making beds in a burning house

Inside our home reality was knocked askew
to match our town struck by the tornado a week ago
I held tightly to your hand as we boarded the bus
Mom was running away from Dad taking us with her
No great adventure awaited us only fear of an unknown future
At ten all I knew to do was bury my face in your cowlick and cry

You ran away from home I found you sitting at the corner
with tears rolling down dirty freckled cheeks
stumped because you were not allowed to cross the street
Your pillowcase full of clothes a sad lump on the pavement
I took your hand and led you home
I taught you to make your own bed
with perfectly tucked corners and fresh clean sheets
But our house was still burning

Soon only the two of us would be left
Our sister headed to Heaven wrapped in her chenille bedspread
Mom trailed behind hanging onto a loose tail of the sheet
flapping forlornly in a cool autumn breeze
I took your hand sat with you on the window seat
We watched parades of people passing through our house
who never noticed us And we waited
We waited years for Mom to return although she slept in her bed
each night and made it first thing in the morning
Our house was still burning

You grew up to set your own houses on fire
It was what you knew making beds in burning houses
Each time I found you took you by the hand
led you to a peaceful place where we could sit quietly
and watch the world go by for a time
Words unnecessary between us
They had been since before you could talk
when Mom placed your chubby newborn self
in my four-year-old arms and said Here’s your baby brother
You watch out for him He needs you

Your fires have all gone out now
No burning embers left to catch on the bed covers
You make your bed with ease precision
and a renewed sense of purpose
I watch happily from a distance of only miles
And know you can feel me still holding your hand

For Kevin, the most exasperating, loyal, and lovable little brother anyone could have.

An Epic Battle With A Simple Question

A beautiful heart pines from afar. To parallel freedom, we choose our master. In Love, the Dragon and Unicorn are! Celestial winged heart beats faster, Over mountain and ocean meet polar eyes. To parallel freedom, we choose our master. Embarking from sun brewed and moonshine skies Two alien races, in war, collide. Over mountain and ocean meet polar eyes. All brothers' swords raise, marching with pride. Sisters of heaven let feathers fly. Two alien races, in war, collide. The angered clouds rain blood from the sky. A new path finally found. Sisters of heaven let feathers fly. Brothers' swords low now to the ground. A beautiful heart pines from afar. A new path finally found. In Love, the Dragon and Unicorn are! In universe Out bound energy Where are we when we die?

Subject: Harry
From: Mandy Tams The Golden Girl
To my new brother Harry
I send these words to you
We haven’t had long together
But you know these words are true.

We shared experiences as children
Even though an ocean apart
My love I send as a sister
The love from a sister’s heart.

Your heart you gave many years ago
To your sweet and lovely Lenore
I pray that she is waiting
And you get your dreams and more.

You touched a piece of me
That I thought was well hid
With the story of your life
And to the mire you felt you slid

But you have loving friends
That are there to give you love
And from my heart I thank them
And I will pray to the heavens above.

That you will receive what you seek
All you felt you missed in life
That you will finally be together
You and Lenore, your beautiful wife.

Since First I Saw You

Since first I saw you, it was your eyes,
mesmerizing, your gaze transporting
me to a realm, not of fantasy, real,
where young men go when cupid’s
arrow takes root.

Since first I saw you, it was your lips,
captivating, holding me frozen
in anticipation of our lips brushing
for the first time.

Since first I saw you, it was your voice,
a crescendo, light, invigorating,
each word you speak intensifies
my hearing, enveloping each
note, time ceases as I hang motionless
savoring, memorizing.

Since first I saw you, it was your hair,
long, flowing, gently rising above
your shoulders as a slight breeze
passes through sending waves
of your essence my way.
The sun magnifying each strand,
highlighting the minute
variances of invigorating color,
creating a halo effect, a portrait of
your beauty forever imprinted.

Since first I saw you, It was you,
my love forever more for you,
only you.

I'm Your King

A burst of white light gamma rays, overbearing a flash of brilliance burns through to my soul everything is like hell the world starts to melt in the blink of an eye just the cold blackness of night I don't care if I am not again what I once was, for at this moment I am greater now than ever before I took the path between teetering, tight roping walking right up to my right divined in my unholy state I thought I told you I am your king still you sit there, hesitating I know you hate me what does that mean? I hate just about everything still I'm chosen I did not wish before now bow down to me refuse me no more for I shall always be your demon until you accept me as your King. I don't even know you though you say we used to be best of friends, you and me the day you ditched me I remember now exactly how it played out back when we were just tiny things even back then I still was King you thought me stupid just a ruse I would laugh inside, you see? not one of you single, mean people ever even knew me in a world, mostly seen to me that is why only I can be your true King and bring forth a new source of light everlasting. As two worlds collide slowly aligned one wrapped in shadows one bathed in white evils swirling in the clouds above I'll always be the king you love to hate or despise as in your blood I thought I told you, I am the one I am the way, the way out shall be shown breathe in my spirit as it carries you away breathe in my faith it shall carry your empty space and deposit you gently on a cloud just enough higher than you've ever dreamed of for I am king now, and your in my hell your in my imagination, I'll just never tell you'll feel as though dreaming, you'll feel now if you try and see you were always found the most shared in the light cast upon me the last bright star in heaven. Denounce my name, if you may One year later, still not afraid A black sheep, a darkened spade That's just life, I'm not right I'm in the wrong, follow along Like a piper, I'll pitch a song Mesmerized, the weak wills sing I thought he told you, he's still our king.

Forgotten Valentine

The world is made for lovers, on this new Valentines Day
And that was from my brother because it had gone astray.

He sent it to his girlfriend; I had hoped the card was for me
But when I opened it, I was shocked at the words I did see.

My brother professing love for me, I knew his handwriting well
He told me how I would see his heart begin to swell.

As you may imagine, this shocked me to the core
When the postman came back and knocked upon the door.

“That card I put through here, it was not meant for you
I know your brother well and he asked me this to do.

Put it through his girlfriend’s door, to save the prices a stamp
I have put it though the wrong one, the bulbs gone in the street lamp.”

“That’s ok”. I said, but you must have one for me
“Sorry love” he said, “You are a forgotten Valentine again I see.”

My Return To Normandy

High on the Normandy cliffs
Looking out over Pointe du Hoc
As cold Atlantic winds whisper out
The names of the brothers I left behind
Now only fine marble monument shadows
Dot the trenches and empty emplacements
As the final testimony of the fallen
Still ringing frightened with those desperate voices
Proclaiming both their lives and death
That they were ever here…

In the emerald hills of Collville Sur Mur
I can still hear the phantom naval shells screaming
Underneath the crying of men
Pulverized and dying in their comrades arms
All for the belief of the land from which they hail
While the roaring waves wash the still bloody sands
In and endless and rending cycle
That silent cacophony of brother and foe
Call out to me still for comfort and aid
Asking only to be remembered…

Marble in Columns on Green

On a slope graced with green
White marble stands in proud salute

For beneath these engraved pillars of memory
Lie the resting places of heroes

A solitary green fir looks down
As if sheltering the lost and the taken

So many names, from all walks of life
A father, brother a girlfriend or wife

On a sunny day, they glow radiant like their lives
On a dull day, they stand out against the greys

For the living, life goes on
Tomorrow is another day

A Blind Sunset

He glances out the window,
And watches the sunset,
But he doesn’t see the beauty,
Nor the warm rays which,
Pierces through the glass,
Only the anticipation and,
Anxiety of a long night,

Carefully, he watches,
The colors change,
First the bright orange,
"God I pray this never ends…"
Filling with a deep red,
"Just a little while longer…"
Slowly softening to the,
Deceptive pinks and purples,
"Please, one more minute…"
Fading into the crimson black,
Which only night can bring,

Reluctantly, he gets ready for sleep,
Yet, knows it will never come,
He tossed and turns,
Half praying, half waiting,
Knowing what will happen,
In the way only a child can,

A light! It peeks through a crack,
In the door as a shadow floods the opening,
Quickly, the figure slips through the door,
And shuts it softly, but not without the,
Empty creak which has become so familiar,
The shadow climbs in beside him,
Touching his trembling leg, whispering,

“Hush little brother, it’ll be alright,
While I’m here, have no fear,
I’ll keep you safe tonight,”

He struggles and writhes,
Sadly knowing he will never,
Break the grip and prays to faint,
To loss all consciousness and,
Memory of that horrible night,
Just for one night without the pain,
Just for one night without,
The cold empty feeling,

Several years pass, too many to count,
A single call, one he had never expected,
He rushes to the hospital to find,
His tormentor for so many years,
Lying on a cold, hard bed,
Able to move, but only by pushing a button,
Able to speak, but only with a whisper,

He stays by him for weeks, caring for him,
Reading to him, watching over him,
Still suffering, still unable to move,
He takes his brother home,

The day goes on, moving slow as all,
The evening comes and he,
Watches once more as the sun sets,
Carefully watching, Orange to red,
Red to purple, and as the purple turns to black,
He walks into the room where his brother lies,
Slowly, he sits next to him, holding a pillow,
Stroking his head whispering,

“Hush big brother, it’ll be alright,
While I’m here, have no fear,
I’ll keep you safe tonight,”

The difference between right and wrong,
Can be hard to find,
But who’s there to see you,
When justice is blind?

Have You Been Hurt By Religion

Have You Been Hurt By “Religion”?

Are you tired of “religious people”
 knocking at your door?
You wish they’d leave... “You can’t take it anymore!”

Have you been hurt by “church people” sometime in the past?
Somehow they hurt you... And the pain continues to last…

Have you been “wounded” by something
 somebody has said?
Perhaps you wonder if “they wish you were dead…”

Perhaps there’s someone that you
may have “befriended…”
They have done something that
 has hurt you and “offended.”

There’s probably many people that you wish would “go away.”
Because of something they’ve
done to “darken your day.”

I’ve been there many times… Believe me I know.
How someone’s actions or words can hurt your soul.

Even those who go to church are
often not very kind.
And they don’t hesitate to
give you “a piece of their mind.”

Religion is not the answer. Look to Jesus
and the life he gives!
He alone has the power to love
 and completely forgive!

It’s only in his shed blood that you can find atonement.
He can change your life now! This very moment!

He can heal your broken heart and wounded spirit.
An everlasting joy and love... He freely gives it!

He can do what no “church” or “religion” could ever do
He can restore your life today.
And make you BRAND NEW!!!

Stuck in a world, she can't find her place
Feeling like noone cares,
looking for away out of this evil crule place she calls home
her mother pretends like nothing is happening
she pretty much raises her 7 year old brother and her 9 and 10 year old sisters
she thinks that she isn't brave anymore
that all happyness is gone
she tries, so hard, she ends up with a fork in the road
noone sees it coming
she can't leave her brother and her sisters behind,
they are the only things keeping her alive,
her father is crule, sick, twisted, so many ways to discribe him
she's afraid that if she tells, she'll be taken away from her siblings
she's tries to hide behind her walls, she paints up her walls
she tries and tries and yet...
She's still stuck in a world where she can't find her place

My Parents Did Their Best To Raise Me

My Parents Did Their Best To Raise Me As a child, my parents did their best to raise me. Teaching me about God, because they loved me! They taught me God’s ways,. This was their intention. They read the Bible, with an undivided attention. Each day I awoke. I was glad mom and dad where there. Especially when we gathered around the table in prayer. The many times we spent together I haven’t forgot. I’m so thankful for the Christian values taught. The values helped shape me into what I am today. And have helped keep me on “the narrow way.” I believe many of these values are being discarded. Even before many families are being started. A respect for God’s word seems to be a thing of the past. It’s no wonder many relationships don’t last. God’s principles must be our daily ambition. His love must be our rock and a TRUE foundation! We must seek his purpose and divine way of living. It’s HIS example that must be our way of giving! Giving to others kindness and love that binds us as one. Through the witness we have in Christ… His son! May God bless our hearts and homes in one accord. As we give our attention to Jesus Christ our Lord! By Jim Pemberton 10/01/11

Battling Addiction

I was all excited when I heard you were on.
I sent you positive things to decorate your wall.
I gave you pictures to remember the loved ones lost.
We have chatted and started to catch up.

You told me something that broke my heart.
I can’t believe you are willing to go back.
What do you miss about the place?
The waking up and going to bed in a cage?
Walking the same corridors wearing the same thing as everyone else?
Being alone while your thoughts beat your mind up day and night?
Having no way to call to say hi?

Your decisions run your life here is your turn to decide.
Chose wisely from here on out.
Say no to the games the devil plays.
Remember the devil took 5 long years away.

Believe in your father and defend his name.
He will forgive you for all your sins
He will show you a love you’ve never known.
He can open doors for you to walk through
He can open windows for your spirit to fly through at night.
He will send angels to guard your dreams from the demons you fight.

I have learned a lot since you have been gone.
I was at a fork in my life where I needed peace of mind.
I turned to my father in the sky for guidance to get by.

He sent an angel to guide my way
Someone to help build up my confidence and trust
My foundation is firm and my faith is strong; my spirit grows with a deeper love.
I see things others don’t see.
I understand things others long to know.
I am one with my world
I am a child of god’s love this I know.

I will never need or want again.
My lord has already accepted my hand.
He will provide when he feels fit
And hears every one of my prayers I say.

I understand you only know pain.
But don’t you get sick of the struggling?
The way you battle yourself inside?
I know it ate me up at night.

So do me a favor before you have that drink?
Remember all the promises you have made.

Go out and help someone in need
everyone needs help back to their feet.
I will be here to listen to you,
I will be here to help you through.
But I can’t make the decision for you.
It is you choice so decide.

What means more a drink or goodbye?
You have one chance left please choose right
or off to jail you go for the rest of your life…

I LOVE YOU!!! Don’t drink please

Quatrain for Robin Hood

When Robin Hood hides in our wood
I shall not turn him out
I'll let his merry gentlemen
Hang all their bows about.

So when a swaggering M.P.
Comes riding by alone
The arrows of the hidden host
Will ring against the stones.

The horse rears up,the man looks round
To see what's caused the stir
And what he sees amidst the trees
Is green men everywhere

Let him complain to Sheriffs all.
The green men will be gone.
When soldiers come to hunt them out
They've vanished every one.

The forests of England are the home
Of rabbit,deer and game.
The green men live their natural life
And we should do the same.

let us all take to the greenwood life
And feel the strength of trees
They do not change at every poll,
Nor do just what they please.

In Nature all is linked to one
And one to all extends.
If we could change our cut throat ways
Maybe all could be friends.

The hearts and souls of all of us,
Form a great human wood.
So let the love we feel be shared,
And heard for the common good.

If everyone is given their place
Then Robin could go home
His men would not be in my wood,
And M.P.'s could safely roam.

Let us all sing,"Robin for King,"
"We all want Robin Hood."
"He took the money from the rich
To be spent for the common good.

An Angel Comes

Sometimes in our life an angel comes,
To spend some time with us below.
The time may last but only a short time,
Or it may last a life time filled with love.

Sometimes in life an angel comes
To guide us along when life is rough
And our faith is low. They come
And stay until we are on our way.

Sometimes when life seems all down hill'
An angel comes to clear the way,
To bring the sun on a cloudy day.
God sent you an angel to light your way.

As much joy as she brought to you'
You also gave to her when your lives entwined.
Within you she will always be.
So when your heart is down and sadness is around

Just reach down deep inside and feel
The warmth of her love come shinning through'
For she will always be but a kiss away.
Sometimes in life an Angel comes
To bring to you the comfort of God's love.

" The Life Of Me " page 1 of 2

My name is James, born 1961
In Inverness, a small Scots town
To my father Andrew, and my mother Beryl
And Billy my brother, a pair of devils
In 67, we woke one night
Our house was ablaze, full of orange light
Our neighbour next door, for whatever reason
Started a fire, it must be crazy season
We had too move to a caravan park
By this time it,s three, to make a new start
My mother Beryl decide to leave
But the three of us left, never bothered to grieve
In the next few weeks, we ended in court
Two small children, in a marriage abort
We were asked to choose either Dad or Mum
But we ignored the parent, who went on the run
As we left the court, to start a new life
We felt sorry for Dad, as his illness was rife
He never told us that he was unwell
It would upset one of his boys, as the future will tell
Then came the night all parents dread;
Being told one of his boys is nearly dead
We were going to a boys club, on a Monday night
My brother was running so far out of sight
I turned the corner to see him ahead
No!! he's been hit by a van, Boom's Boom's dead
I ran to my father, sreaming and crying
I'm finding my life,at 7 - far too trying
After the funeral, and with my father unwell
We left Inverness, our eyes a swell
To go as two, and not three as before
It's like Mother Nature closed a door
So we headed west, to a place called Fort William
Was it in the stars, cause Billy " is " William
We moved there, as the air was so pure
Hoping my father will find his cure
For whatever reason, we left the above
We found no Angel or peaceful dove
So we headed back to Inverness
Fathers health decreasing, life still a stress
Over the next few years, i was fostered and loaned
In couples houses and children's homes
It was really strange in all those places
Different people, different faces

Then on the 16th of Feb - 76,
James, i was told, your dads very sick.
The cancer had taken your father away
To be with Billy, where you'll join them one day

In 77, i joined the Navy, as i promised my dad you see.
I did'nt enjoy it, i decided to leave
Back up north, where my futures to be
I wanted to have, what my parents had lost
And that was my aim, no matter the cost

I'll Be Missing You (A Tribute To My Brother)

Verse 1:

Seems like yesterday we was hanging out
Running round; playing tag in the house
Till you hurt me and I would shout
Zach I gotta let this out my mouth cause
Life ain’t always what it seems to be
It hurts cause I can’t see you visually
Now that you’re gone, I feel like dying
I don’t even see the point in trying
In the future, it’s my only dream
That you open up the gates for me
I ask God sometimes
Why did he take my friend
Why did Zach’s life have to end
When it’s real, I find it hard to deal
With all the everyday pain I feel
I will never forget that time
When I heard what happened on 4.0.9

Every step I take, every move I make
Every single day, every time I pray
I’ll be missing you
Thinking of the day, when you went away
What a life to take, what a bond to break
I’ll be missing you

Verse 2:

It’s hard to bear with you not around
I know you in heaven smiling down
Watching me like you always did
Ever since I was a little kid
Till the day we meet again
In my heart is where you stay till then
Writing songs; writing poems and doing things like crying
Are only half of what gets me by
Memories give me the strength I need to proceed
Through this thing called grief
I go to God for all support
Cause he’s one I know I lean on
God broke this bond
I promise to the one
That will keep it going strong
I will never forget that time
When I heard what happened on 4.0.9

Around that table, picture the scene
Self appointed leaders if you know what I mean
What were the topics on the Agenda that day
The Jewish race is about to pay

Who gave the right for this decision that's made
Who has the right to cleanse and degrade
To decide who lived, to decide who dies
Another chapter, I still wonder why

They came in the day they came in the night
Women and children pulled out of sight
Herded aboard like cattle and sheep
Many a family awoke from their sleep

Dazed and confused as they are taken away
Where will they be at the end of the day
From their warm houses and their warm beds
What must be going through their heads

As they travel through days and through the night
Up ahead, they see lots of lights
They depart the trucks and board the train
Their faces scared under the strain

Asking questions from family and others
Generations, sisters and brothers
Why are we here, where are we going
Windowless carriages with no way of knowing

We come to a stop, soldiers aplenty
Towers and wire, topped with sentries
What can this place be they have taken us to
As we head to large gates as they shuffle us through

Families separated, herded in file
Women and children, not one did smile
Taken to rooms where our heads were shaved
Is this the way humans behaved

Clothes discarded, as we enter the shower
No signs of water no signs of power
Doors slammed as we are all crammed in
History will recall this evil of sins

As we stand in the dark, chanting Jewish faith
Can hear the voices can't see the face
Noises above, do the showers start
The event has begun that tells us Humans apart

Questions and sighs, as walled vents show daylight
Some thing is falling then their slammed tight
A strange aroma starts to fill the air
As all around are screams of despair

Twenty minutes have passed and the quietness is rife
Two thousand people, two thousand lives
Pellets called HCN, or Hydrogen Cyanide

My Fallen Brother

White marble stones
Stand proud in the sun
To remember my colleagues
The heroic fallen ones
Many a battle
Many a campaign
Some did return
For some never the same
On the green grass i stand
Blue sky above
The souls of my comrade's
Like peaceful sitting doves
The name on this stone
Reminds me of the day
My best friend and brother
Was taken away
An offensive was launched
Brothers at war
Bunker to take
At the top of a tor
Smoke screen exhausts the view to the hill
As we wind our way through
Zipping bullets, blood spill
Noises of lead, as they rip through the flesh
As we hit the barbed wire
Now a scarlet stained mesh
Objective in sight as we approach our aim
As i hear the groan of the injured
Many dead and maimed
Grenade pin pulled
Bunker window we lob
Hands sweating
How many lives will we rob
Explosion flash with shouts of pain
As the smoke lifts on this bloody terrain
We enter the Bunker
To witness our task
The enemy lie distorted
Faces grimace, death mask
I turn to my brother, to signal its safe
As a shot rings out, in this theatre place
He stands still for a moment
Eyes glazing and cold
The death of my sibling
At 19 years old
As i open my eyes, and turn to my son
I see what i had, as he holds my grandson
Family values, love and a bond
As i remember my brother
Of whom, i was so fond
I proudly walk past, salute as i go
The white stones standing proud
Peaceful doves in a row
I find my self fortunate to stand here and tell
To talk of my brother, and the fallen as well

holokauston Page 2 of 2

After the quiet we all have to go
Dragged and carted by the Sonderkommando
To be dumped in pits covered by lime
A race to dispose by it's Human slime

Auschwitz, Buchenwald & Dachau slaughtered
Many a son, many a daughter
Experiments on children women and men
Some aged 90, many under 10

In 45, their end was near, how many alive would reappear
As Russians, British and US troops
Chased the Hun to their German roots
Each camp reached showed it's sordid past
Where millions of me, were massively gassed

In Auschwitz, to this present day
Birds don't fly, no animals play
The reminder is all for there to see
Those terrible days what happened to me

It's 1948, our Nation is born
From histories past, populations torn
To all who survived I wish you well
And our new born world, called Israel

Mardi Gras

Mardi Gras

Ever since the flames licked

my fair pink burning flesh,

nothing in my life has remained the same.

I had to go back in to

save my little brother Chris.

Life without him would kill me,

besides myself I would forever blame.

Even though it’s been ten years,

my face still feels the pain.

Having to go through high school

with a scarred face is just lame.

I’ve got the body of a goddess;

I must admit I’m beautiful from the neck down,

but the hideous burn scars

on my face have remained.

Months after the accident

weeks before school started,

a knock at my door came.

An anonymous donor sent a box

 full of beautifully hand decorated

Mardi Gras masks made for only the fairest lady,

that’s the day I got my new name.

Each month a new box of masks

would arrive and I would wear everyone.

I became known as the royal shapely, disfigured lady.

Mardi Gras was my fame.

One night a mysterious white box appeared,

inside rested the most unique and intricately

adorned mask of all. It was a pure white mask adorned

with a delicate French ivory lace, fluffy pure white

dove feathers and shiny white pearls outlined the mask.

White is normally considered lame

but this was breathtaking, nothing plain.

Inside the box was also an

 invitation, asking me to attend

the prom with "Masked Bandit" Lane.

I couldn’t believe it! All along it was

my handsome next door neighbor and

Chris' best friend, who had been sending

the ornate masks to me. He was my hero now,

my enthusiasm could hardly be tamed..

Lane had always adored my brother Chris and seemed

to like me too. I always knew he had

a crush on me, but I never knew to what extent.

I rushed over to his house where he was playing

with my brother Chris a heated basketball game.

I hugged him and told him that

I would love to go with him to the prom.

Just between you and me,

Lane and I will always be the

masked King and Queen of Mardi Gras

and forever in love we will reign.

Heres Looking At You Kid

Dear brother you were only 22
when the good Lord came calling for you

Water had consumed your last breath
Coroners said was a flashback from heroin and meth

I had always looked up to you
but your verbal abuse made me and the others feel blue

black hair hazel eyes man you look so like Elvis
imitating shaking your hips and pelvis

blisters and sores on your young pale face
oh boy how you had fallen from Gods grace

you had a little girl right after you died
Mom always stood by her and your girlfriend's side

first Grandpa then you Dad Mom and brother Bob
for my life now feels like I've been robbed

missed over 30 yrs of wishing you birthday greetings
now at the dinner table there is limited seating

but every year when your birthday comes and passes
I will be there to pick your grave site overgrown grasses

I wonder what you would look like today
or even if your hair would be full of grey

I have forgiven for all you had done to me
for I hold no regrets so your soul can be free

heres wishing you another birthday greeting
as I lay this card and rose at your grave site's seating

Please give Grandpa Dad Mom and brother Bob my love
for someday I will reunited with all of you above

For now I have my own little girl
for she is my own everyday world

I promise to tell her all about you
and how God will turn you into someone pure and new

Rest in peace my loving dear brother
heres another birthday wish I send in passion smothers

In Loving Memory Of
My Brother Gary

A Lonely Grave

I stood by your graveside this cold winters day.

A heart broken with sorrow that won’t go away.

I called out your name and shed many a tear.

And hoped in my heart that you would appear.

God took you from us that fine sunny morning.

Our lives now shattered without any warning.

Your work here on earth has finished this year.

Your books and teachings you spread far and near.

It was a pleasure to know you for sixty odd years.

And when my time comes I will have no fears.

You will be waiting to greet me as oft times before.

When I call to your house and knock on the door.

Each night when I lay my head down to sleep.

I will ask the lord your soul to keep.

And if you find any time away from your books.

Look kindly on me as I walk in those woods.

Two Brothers

1969, two boys on the run But on the run To have much fun Monday night, Boys Brigade Where on this evening A life will fade The older by two years Could ran very fast The youngest in the race Just couldn't last Corner turned I'll catch up you'll see Where you are I want to be To reach that corner I ran and ran As I lifted my head My brother hit by a van As I reach the road I hear screams above the brakes Screeching tyres As my world all breaks My brother of nine Dragged for fifty yards Under a van Body skinned and tarred I stand there trembling In fear and tears Slow motion engulfs me As I shuffle near Panic sets as I turn and run Past the corner Where it all began Running back to my father Shouting Boom Booms dead Images running through my head My beloved brother Who could run faster than thee His life taken in front of me To see what I seen Just a boy of seven Watching Angels take his brother to heaven .

Tempers and Attitudes

Tempers and attitudes in our house did stay
Guess it was because we were raised that way
Things could get bad when one of us got mad
If you escaped unhurt, then be really glad
For the attitudes would flare
And tempers would rage
We were all quite violent for our age
With our fists our problems were solved
I know that may sound unorthodox to all
But in our home, an evil ruled
In being mean, we were schooled
My brother and sister were taught well
Mess with them and you’ll pay hell
One day while they were playing together
Sitting by the stove because of cold weather
My brother had taken sis’s doll away
With her, this was not how to play
She got mad and started to cry
My brother laughed as he watched her whine
Well then she thought that little brat
If he wants to fight, then I’ll just fight back
So into the ashes from under the stove
She reached in and pulled out a bolt
A bolt from a rail road tie I believe
And trust me when I say they’re big
She turned around and without a word
A big loud crack from his head could be heard
Golden blonde hair now soaked with blood
I had watched from where I stood
This little girl with such cute curls
Has proven that she’ll rock your world
If you mess with her or her dolls
You’d better run at least three miles
For her revenge is not too good
My brother knows and this is understood
For underneath that cute exterior
Is the soul of a very brave warrior
