Of Ink

   Partial Paper
 -A poet in heat-

Ink carries its own tale,
When moonshine intoxicates your pen
Bottles of ink fill your mind
Composing symphonies on every line
Drops of passion all over the mask you wear
Nothing compares to black stains and broken nails

This part of you
"A CAN'T BE REMOVED" tattoo
The tough skin you'll ever live in
Fountain pens of split identities
Who Are You?
Sinking words like no other
Poisoned ink piercing every rhyme
Inferior poet, making the heart pure
Anger plus anger "GIVE ME MORE!"

You have a desire to paint all day,
Breathing and beating in every way
Toxic lines, from which ink flows
Inhaling images from the world
Deep and cold sorrowed emotions
True love is always easy to poetize
Dear Poet: "Ink Never Lies."

Pretty pink acrostic ink when she's nearby
Sugar and salt, Epic taste of reality
Ballads sung under the full moon
Sunny Sonnets, on any rainy day
Ode's of rivers from your past
A dark smile jotting down memory lane
Monologue tears brought under pressure
Loading cartridges of fresh Senryu and Haiku"
Dramatic red runs through your veins when all is done
Unfolding old and new propagandas
POET: You are my favorite verse in every stanza
((Only this, and nothing more))
Writing is like giving birth

Tin Can Sailors

The mighty 3rd to the north did steam,
Chasing a ghost not to be seen

Guard the landing your task assigned,
Quiet the day is to be benign

At dawn the Imperial fleet does appear,
Surprise complete, ranging fire splashes near

Outnumbered and out gunned, duty is clear,
Close the range you must in spite of your fear

Laying smoke, a jagged course you take,
An account of yourselves you will make

Steel your heart and make sure your eye,
For each salvo keeps you alive

Toe-to-toe the battle, you exchange mighty blows,
Triumph impossible, yet into the fray you all go

In perfect rhythm, the mad dance goes on,
As smoke filled gunhouse loads powder and shot

Decks strewn with the dead and dying,
Teams repair to keep the ensign flying

Struck and struck again, yet to point blank you steam,
Hard to port, you cross the “T”

“All guns to fire at the turn, torpedoes away!”
The enemy scatters in disarray

Too late, mortal blows you take
To the deep, no more your enemy to rake

One final salute their captain does render,
For you fought to the death and did not surrender

On this all men do still agree,
These were the finest two hours of Taffy 3

*****************************************
On October 25th, 1944, 3 destroyers and 4 destroyer escorts of Task Force
Taffy 3 engaged a combined force of Imperial Japanese Navy battleships and
cruisers in a 2 hour running gun battle to protect the escort carriers and troop
transports taking part in the Leyte Gulf landings in the Philippines. Two of the
three destroyers and one of the escorts were sunk while sinking three
Japanese heavy cruisers and damaged three more. Due to the fierceness of
the attack, the Japanese fleet retired from the area thinking they had been
attacked by a much larger force. At the outset of the battle, the commanding
officers of these 7 ships, without orders, individually decided to attack and
headed at flank speed to the fight all knowing they would most likely not
survive the day. Almost 1600 did not. In a final act of respect, the commander
of one Japanese cruiser saluted the crew of an American ship that had just
sunk as his ship passed them floating in the water.

I'm my Daddy Made Over

Dedicated to my Dad Jerry W. Niday 3/20/1952 - 6/18/2013

I am who I am because of him
He’s the reason for my son’s name
He gave me my courage & my strength
To stand tall even when standing wasn’t easy
Stand for the ones who can’t
To think and fend for myself
I’m my Daddy made over

Taught me to fight back
To never back down
How to pick myself back up
When I’ve been knocked down
Fight for what I believe
I’m my Daddy made over

He gave me my stubbornness
Gave me my pride
Gave me my temper
Taught me not to take crap
To speak my mind no matter who
Work for what I want
I’m my Daddy made over

How to keep my emotions in check
How to handle large amounts of pain
When in trouble he always had my back
He knew how my mind worked better than anyone
I got it from him
I’m my Daddy made over

Even though he’s gone
I’ll stand and continue on
I may stumble I may fall
May even get hurt along the way
But I’ll pick myself back up
I’ll dust myself off and stand tall
I’m honored and proud to say
I’m my Daddy made over

Dementia

He was always so happy
strong and bold.
He'd give you the shirt off of his back.
Tough.
Independent.
He had a rough life
growing up through the depression,
but like he always does,
he got through it.
He has two boys, of whom he is so proud.
Moved from Regina, to Victoria.
He had the best life anyone his age could have wanted.
But ever since his wife died,
he has not been the same.
Sad
Lonely
Empty.
But like he has always done,
he got through it.
Mind slipping,
just a little forgetful.
That's how it always starts out...
But like always, he powered through it,
until now...
He is not the same person that I used to know.
He been sentenced to the prison in his own mind.
Possessed by the thoughts of his dogs ashes.
He likes to play the blame game,
but we know he doesn't remember that it was him.
He wakes up in the night
shaking with pain,
tears streaming down his face.
There is nothing we can do,
Oh well...
Two more tylenol.
Hold on to hope
for as long as you can,
It's only a matter of time now.
He gets vocal, a very loud tone.
He'll block you in your room
and make false accusations
But we know that it's the pain induced monster in him.
Tick tock, tick tock...
You can't handle the stress anymore
you have to leave.
Just hope for the best,
maybe it will get better.
Surprise, it doesn't.
Your denial is foolish, everyone knows
what happens next.
Sedation
Medication
Anger
Hurt
All results of

The Shadow with Scizophrenia

I walked upon an empty step,
Where a shadowed body was kept.
The shadow was beat,
Turning as cold as winter sleet.

It had bright blue eyes,
That extended all through the skies.
The shadow was nine,
Living to be blind.

I walked to the figure,
As it would evilly linger.
People would laugh at it,
As it snarled and bit.

The shadow diagnosed with
schizophrenia,
Beating itself, the others, as if a
mania.
No one could reach out,
No one gave it water, as it was in a
drought.

I was determined to bring its colors,
Be the one to treat it like no other.
The shadow hated me,
Told me Hell is where I should be.

Not giving in,
Not creating one other sin.
I drew it pictures, wrote it letters,
Tried to blossom its feathers.

Then the day came,
When there had to be an end to the
game.
Not wanting to leave,
Not wanting the devil to its thieve.

As I was bout to walk through the
door,
The shadow came upon me, on the
open floor.
Held out his arms,
As I smiled and lowered his alarms.

The shadow had a name,
Brought about with little shame.
The shadow was a boy,
Played with by the devil as if a toy.

I played with fire,
Burning loosely like a run away tire.
But he finally knew I was there,
Someone who was willing to care.

Song Of The Seamen And Their Ship Called Mary Rose

Mary Rose, the mighty sailing sea vessel glided majestically across the waves
She had robustly and bravely sailed the briny waves for many a night and day
With the ocean's heaving gusting squalls blowing off proud stern and mast
Sailing victorious and proud - her billowing white sails were cast
The calm, liquid waters of the sea flowed quietly purple for now-
Unaware of the coming storm that would beat furious against her bow

Her alabaster sails whipped violent and furious in the oncoming storm
Impending doom was yelling its cries while the seamen went unwarned
Down below, inside their cabins the seamen peacefully slept
Wrapped in the secure watch that their gallant captain kept
The oceans black, boiling waves beat savage against starboard and port
As Captain Noe standing fearless - at first quake, did not the storm report

The old wooden beams of the Mary Rose began to restlessly moan and creak
While the blackened roaring, rolling waves beat furious against her feet
Her alabaster sails rose proud- beating mighty against wailing squalls and gusts
While deep inside the bow in bunks, the sleeping seamen thrust

Suddenly...they heard the captain's distraught voice cry out
When the seamen heard his voice -they heard fear without doubt
“Awake, all of ye’ ”, Captain Noe forcefully roared
“Alive! Awake… all ye’ seaman come quickly up on board”!

The savage spirit of the sea reigned fierce with rage and fear
While the brave captain fought - loyal seaman brought up the rear
They courageously fought together - not silenced by the eye of death
As the sea raged violently against them with its brutal, menacing breath

To save their mighty Mary Rose, they’d dip their very souls in blood
Leaving themselves merciless against this drunken, mighty flood
With plank and bow standing fierce between them and their fate
The raging ocean’s fierce, blackened waves - the sea they could not hate

The morning brought the warming sun which rose broad above the waves
The winds had tamed their violent voice against captain and seaman brave
With unshakable courage and seaman’s wit not once were spirits broke
Each cheered his mate and captain strong as they fought with steady stroke
Their peril fought in days of danger and night filled with pain
Their manly courage did not wane - their fight was not in vain
For all the courageous seamen and their brave Captain Noe
Joined together in hand and spirit to save...their proud Mary Rose

Enigma's Calling

Extraordinary, I am
Craving for unusual thoughts
Endless exploration without boundary
Understanding the gift I shouldn't fought

Invisible drawings in my mind
Playing with the words in my head
My passion
The food of my soul

I feel so lucky
The random thoughts
A lifetime companion
A self esteem builder
A goal planner
Be my forever life saver

I write more
I talk less
I want to please
I chose to bore

What tickles me the most
Is to know what I'm for
Thinking is my love
When my mind goes empty
That's when I hate

My day dreaming lust
Organizing things in my mind
Playing roles of simulation
Where images of art is my vision
And words of attitude is my heart

Approvals I Should Praise

Approvals I Should Praise

The rhythm of my pen knows no bounds
Its ticks, treks, and steps knows no count.
The songs on my lip just loose the count.
No where, I suppose to untie the bond.

Strong bones are so much in here
They touch and squeeze out letters bountifully.
In these bones, many light I have received gracefully.
Linda is one, Andrea is two among all of you there.

You are all amazing guests in this field
Cup of water..., cup of tea come to toast.
Many hugs, many thanks to you, writ and host.
... Eden that crowns my garden and its yields.

Special parcel to my coy mistress, Linda.
All sea, roses...and sweet showers to you.
And my lady Andrea; always brand new!
I love you all... your words in my wall are tender.

Dedicated to:
 Poetrysoup,
Poet Destroyer A,
Andrea Dietrich
and to the rest of Poetrysoupers.

I am Grateful for your warm welcome.

Ultimate Sacrafice

I have found a pureness within him that my soul thrives for.
I am driven by the desire to please him without boundaries.
His image holds the power to freeze my movement, the vibration of his voice holds the power to tremble me.
His heart holds the power to break me, his soul holds the power to expire me.
I believe in him for his intention and desire.
I believe in him for who he is and his worth.
I believe in his now and his future.
I believe in him for his knowledge and his potential.
I believe in his skill as a provider and his force to become.
I feel he is somebody I had once lost.
I feel between us a bond stronger than mankind can create.
A fate unknown, undecided, I give myself to him to have, to do with it what he will, to make it his own.

THE ALAMO

An earthen gray memorial stands alone against
A rugged desert landscape, built by the mortal
Hands of the faithful.
No bells do ring, in the churches steeple, but in the
Heart of Texas it's sounding message can never
Be silenced, remember the Alamo.
For the fighting men of valor's honors sacrificed,
All for liberation's call to freedom.
Listen to their whispering voices, traveling
Across the tangle weed dunes, and harken unto
Them, never to surrender even after death, do
They fight for country, hearth, and home.
These pioneer men whom built this nation's
Backbone, carved it out, with steeled bowie knife
Sharpened edge, and musket balls powder's flash.
Gathered here, for one last hurrah’s gallant stand off,
To the victor's gaining everlasting immortality.
Gallantry’s brave, shed their dearest blood, sacrificing
Giving everything they had, including life itself.
Cannon thunder bolts roar, as lightening rods raw force
Striking against mortars harden walls, yet the
Spirits of bravery strong, did not yield, or raise
The white shield of surrender.
Keep thy black powder dry, lift your rifles high,
But don't fire men, until you see the whites of
Your enemies eyes.
Under the hailing of gunfire’s smoke, did hells
Storm rage, both sides dying for their country's
Beliefs right or wrong.
Death's battlefield littered with fragments deceased,
A graveyard left unattended, wars unfortunate
Fallen, became salvation’s tribute to behold, in the distance
A tattered flag, still waves in the winds of freedom.
Bricks of defense, shattered as if made of glass,
Debris spewing outwards, towards martyred legacy's
Champions, killing many before they hit the ground,
Receiving remains of the valiant dead.
Oh in the heaven's trumpets did herald, these
Courageous souls, welcoming honored soldiers, home wards
Unto God's boundless country, for these explorers
To discover the horizon's endless divides beyond.
Prisoners living, taken by horse and rider were forced
To bow, beneath a foreign banners alien flag.
Yet even than their American hearts didn't waiver,
Until the swords steel severed life, from the fleshes beating
Drumming from within.
But the last warrior yelled a rebels battle cry,
And as he fell with his last dying breath,
Yelled out,
Remember the Alamo!!

The Center's Footsteps

Thoust message rings,
But it is a wretched beauty.
Sew up thine tongue;
It forks in many directions,
Ensnaring, passing through the centers,
Weaving a thread gleaming, deceivingly white,
Yet drenched in the black goo,
The sticky gobs of our source, our blood.
Cast aside thine needle,
Let time make it blunt.
Wallow in thine sorrow,
But only for a moment.
Up, up with you!
The sticky gobs cannot protect thee.
See me, Hear me.
For I see thee...
Thou hast split thine tongue
To hide, to forget.
Thine forked words, black to all, clear to me.
Go on, go ahead,
Walk through its enveloping black.
And when you cannot run,
Crawl.
And when you can’t do that anymore,
Find someone to carry you.
Thou art strong!
Let thine center give you new feet!
Yet,
If even thine center falls weary,
I shalt be thine legs.
I shalt carry you, my friend.

Our Poet, Mr Michael Jordan

Many a tribute is written
Only the writer knows why
The reason I'm writing this
He could have been goodbye

This Bakersfield boy
Smith Corner he graced
To lose his mother at 4
A young soul misplaced

Loving Grandparents
Filled an empty void
For the loss of a parent
Internal destroy

High School reached
Hooked on drugs
Degenerating body
Societies bug

He ended up here
And also there
To the age of 41
In hazed stare

An Angel was released
To look after her son
As he rose from his prayer
His new life begun

Then came the day
A son was reborn
In a town called Willows
The end of his storm

Another two Angels appeared
Michaela and Antoinette
His future path laid
All three, truly set

Mr Michael Jordan
I think your grand
You help your past
Now that's a stand

A leader, a gent
Poet and dude
To shake your hand
I wish i could

My tribute to a wonderful person whose life story always moved me.

Solomon Mahlangu: My Blood will Nourish the Tree that will Bear the Fruits of Freedom

(special thanks to a friend who shared this tribute to Solomon Mahlangu)

Solomon Mahlangu: My Blood will Nourish the Tree that will Bear the Fruits of Freedom:

Solomon Mahlangu was trained as an MK soldier with a view to later rejoining the struggle in the country.

He left South Africa after the Soweto Uprising of 1976 when he was 19 years old, and was later chosen to be part of an elite force to return to South Africa to carry out a mission commemorating the June 16th 1976 Soweto student uprising.

After entering South Africa through Swaziland and meeting his fellow comrades in Duduza, on the East Rand (east of Johannesburg), they were accosted by the police in Goch Street in Johannesburg.

In the ensuing gun battle two civilians were killed and two were injured, and Mahlangu and Motloung were captured while acting as decoys so that the other comrade could go and report to the MK leadership.

Motloung was brutally assaulted by the police to a point that he suffered brain damage and was unfit to stand trial, resulting in Mahlangu facing trial alone.

He was charged with two counts of murder and several charges under the Terrorism Act, to which he pleaded not guilty.

Though the judge accepted that Motloung was responsible for the killings, common purpose was argued and Mahlangu was found guilty on two counts of murder and other charges under the Terrorism Act.

On 15 June 1978 Solomon Mahlangu was refused leave to appeal his sentence by the Rand Supreme Court, and on 24 July 1978 he was refused again in the Bloemfontein Appeal Court.

Although various governments, the United Nations, International Organizations, groups and prominent individuals attempted to intercede on his behalf, Mahlangu awaited his execution in Pretoria Central Prison, and was hanged on 6 April 1979.

His hanging provoked international protest and condemnation of South Africa and Apartheid.

In fear of crowd reaction at the funeral the police decided to bury Mahlangu in Atteridgeville in Pretoria.

On 6 April 1993 he was re-interred at the Mamelodi Cemetery, where a plaque states his last words:

‘My blood will nourish the tree that will bear the fruits of freedom.

Tell my people that I love them.

They must continue the fight.’

Mahlangu died for a cause!

Salute!

The Struggle Continues…

The Victory Dance

To play as if today
Is your only chance.
Some say, “It’s just a game.”
Have they done the Victory Dance?

When hard-earned Victory
Was finally at hand,
Have they felt the glory
Raining down from the stands?

To do or not to do….
No one wants to hear, “We tried.”
Effort and dedication will be rewarded…
And ‘Sooner Magic’ is on your side.

Yes, to fall short is still an option;
But much better to succeed.
Heroes are made and remembered
Only by their deeds.

So, just go out and win.
Give your all to each and every chance.
Persevere and achieve…

And do the Victory Dance.

Crackling Hearts an Onomatopoeia Poem

Crackling Hearts

Swoosh, whoosh a salty sea soars,
splish-splash colossal waves a roar.
Drip-drop, a leaky faucet spent,
trickle, streaming tears repent.

Pounding heart sore, you adore,
beating, loving pumps no more.
Thump of regret, of love in debt,
thrashing together you forget.

Fluttering beats on retreat,
sloshing a scent so very sweet.
Shattering bond, broken beyond,
a bellowing future now so fond.

Grimacing glares, hatred a flares,
spawning an odium of stares.
Soured smiles, trekking every mile,
whispering woes all the while.

Crackling hearts, burned apart,
smoldering pain from the start.
Hissing highs, kissing goodbye,
a burning love affair denied.

*An Onomatopoeia Poem people, but no place to choose that category! Thanks for taking the time to view my work, my fellow poet and poetess friends!

We Salute Our Veterans This Memorial Day

We salute every soldier who’s served this great nation. And offer a heart of thanks and appreciation! We salute each member of our armed forces. And are thankful for their efforts and resources! We salute the many who protect our borders too. We’d be in trouble… If not for people like YOU! We salute every son and daughter lost in a war. YOU are what serving this country is meant for! We salute the officers who’ve guided our women and men. Our prayers are with you! And our love from within! We salute our veterans! Wherever they may be! Those who served on land, air and sea! Offering prayer to the Lord is our belief… That he will guide our Commander-in-Chief! As we observe Memorial Day this year… Let’s offer our soldiers love, hope and cheer! May God bless them in all they endeavor And his peace be with them today and forever!! By Jim Pemberton

He Loved You

He loved you too, you know
Loved you like his very own
In away you were
You came into his life as my friend
Through the years you grew to be my brother in arms
Along the way you became the son he never had

He loved you as a friend
He loved you even more as a son
A son he never had
When things began to spiral out of control
You stayed when so many others ran away
You helped when I couldn’t

You meant a great deal to him
You never looked at him differently
Nor did you treat him differently
You stood by his side
When he fell, you stood by his side and mine
You were willing to help me fight his battle for him
You were there from the beginning
You were there until the bitter end
Always remember my friend, my brother
He loved you more than you’ll ever know

We Lost More Than a Dad

We lost more than just a Dad that day
We lost half of how we came to be
We lost we four girls first love
We lost our Best Friend

We lost more than just a Dad that day
Our Mom lost her Soul Mate, Her other half
Our children lost their Papaw
We lost our family’s foundation
We lost the glue that held us together

We lost more than just a Dad that day
We lost the Strongest man we ever knew
We lost the man we looked up too
We lost we four girls Teacher of many things

We lost more than just a Dad that day
We four girls lost our Hero
We lost some of our Light
We lost part of our Heart
We lost part of our Soul

We lost more than just a Dad that day
We lost some of our Courage
We lost some of our Strength
We lost some of our will to fight back
We lost some of our will to carry on
We four girls lost more than a Dad
We lost more than just a Dad that day

Generic Minds

generic minds listen to generic music
have generic thoughts that are unknowingly abusive
watch generic things talk about generic things
gee this generic *****is spreading like a disease
better get your flu shot
thats what they said to me
a suicidal vaccine
a subliminal killing spree
its contagious and the outrageous
thing about it is that the people are blind in an eye
that they didn't even know they had
it's sickening to watch these clueless civilians
inside the looking glass
with nightmares of being free
without a key to their mind
for it is trapped in the frequency
in the illusion of time
bathed in our universe
killing all that refuse to see
those that admit to hypocracy
or see the message in hip hop
how cant you see
the message in the lyrics that
bring adolescents to their knees
from bullet wounds conflicting their flesh
contradicting that they're the best
but the songs keep telling them that they dont need no rest
that they dont wanna go home
that they should ride alone
with the gat as their only companion
and so the only path they choose is the one that they're told
until they grow old and hope turns to a window pane
inside a window pane, until all they feel is pain
they realize that the music itself is ashamed
so whats to look up to
when you cant even speak when you cant even walk because you look so bleak
your eyes are sunken from the tv you're infested with the dee zees
now its too late to turn around and live for your conscious
so when youre screaming oh please
close your eyes and bring your mind to life
open your eyes for the first time
and never wonder why
since the answer this entire time
has been inside
and you better find it before you die
you dont want your soul to be in a pool with all the others
a buncha brothers missing their mothers
but only seeing strangers
only feeling the haters
wishing they would have used their minds when they had them
and now its too late,
now it's time for another new born fate to grab them

I love your soft kisses.I love firm but gentle touch. I love the way you bite your lip.I love you soooooo much.
I love the way you look at me.I love the way you smile. I love the way you're shy sometimes,Every once and a while.
I love it when you look at me, When I'm not looking at you. You think I do not realize it, But really...I do.
I love the way you cuddle. I love the way you sleep. I love how you bite your lip when something turns you on. I love the way you rub your neck, when you are thinking so deep.
I love all of you,Your nose, your lips, your hair, even your smelly feet. I love how you drink Dr Pepper. Morning noon and night. I love how if someone puts me down your always there first one there ready to fight. I will never stop loving you. You are so amazingly sweet.

Also superlative of a gentelman.

The Walking Man

The walking man walks with no place to go,
Head tucked down with his eyes lookin' low.
We gotta reach out
We gotta hold his hand
We gotta reach out
To the walking man

He's seen it all, lived the wars out there.
Now he's blowing around like a leaf in the air.
We gotta reach out
We gotta hold his hand
We gotta reach out
To the walking man

Walking man don't mean no harm he don't mean to lie.
He's just one careless face from a way to die, a way to fly, to say goodbye…..

So it's you and me and the walking man makes three;
Such a better number to be.

He's tired and warn like a piece of coal,
But he could light the city with the light in his soul.
We gotta reach out
We gotta hold his hand
We gotta reach out
To the walking man

Walking man don't mean no harm he don't mean to lie.
He's just one careless face from a way to die, a way to fly, to say goodbye…..

Because it's you an me and the walking man makes three;
Such a better number to be

Healing Words

My mother, my grandmother before has always held a place in my heart.
My father, and my grandfather before has the same part.
I was young and very active with unwillingness to listen fully to what they had to say.
I had a problem, never could be solved without my parents and grandparents till today.
With patience they all come to my aid when I fall on my face.
With little dishonor I listen to them and what they had to say, I embrace.
Over the years I go to them with no doubt a feeling of no dismay.
Over the years I go to them and they help me solve problems that to me is O.K.
Now I am getting a bit more aware of what had happen to me when I was growing.
Now I remember how the ride was in my beginning: it was a trial of not knowing.
With the guided words of my parents and grandparents I survive through them all.
With it some being a problem that I remember I recall.
My mother and my grandmother always said to be patient and it will be easy to solve.
My father and my grandfather always knew that I would grow and evolve.
I could wonder everyday what if my parents and grandparents was not in my life.
I could just think that would be fatal like a stab with a knife.
With knowledge that they had past on to me of what they had experience.
With their proof of teachings they had past on to me is their self existence.
Over the years I grew with life so full of happiness that was because of my families love.
Over the years it showed me the path that led me to all the above.
Now cherish those words that help me through my troubles in my new family.
Now I listen to my parents healing words of wisdom and except them gladly.

By Nate Spears

Her purpose in this world is hurting
She’s never been a designed of perfect
But she is a mom, so she’s super
She works
She cleans
Then roll up her sleeves ; and
Take care of the kids; and
The house
Making it a home
For a beautiful family to roam
Building wonderful memories
Becoming a woman of worth
Keeping her faith through Christ
Keeping her pace through health
Keeping her sanity through managing
This is a woman’s worth
I’m giving you

Despite of all the stress
She receives her family with open arms
Through all the mess
She’s a fantastic mom
A wonderful woman
Deserving a round of applause
Plus a standing ovation
For always being an American sensation
That held this continent down since day one
Since the Plymouth Rock landed on us
Thank you for her giving
Thank you for her living
Thank you for her children
This is ,
A woman’s worth.

Let's Praise the Lord

Let’s praise the Lord!
All you people of the land!
Let’s praise him with every
Instrument we have on hand!

Let’s shout praises to his
wonderful name!
A message of rejoicing,
we need to proclaim!

Let’s come before him,
with love from our hearts!
This is where a victorious
life really starts!

Let’s bring him our thanks
and appreciation!
And sing of his tender mercy
and wondrous salvation!

Let’s bring him a heart filled
With hope and cheer!
The coming of the lord,
is so very near!

We bless the father, the spirit
and son!
Through the blood of Jesus,
we have overcome!

The Sooner Recruit

Fifty years, boy and man, I’ve been a Sooners fan;
And watched thousands of recruits try to make my Sooners Team.
Often, I’ve enviously wondered what it must be like
To be a touted Sooners recruit, living out his dream.

He’d had a great career through high school;
Made good grades, was a football star, played baseball too.
Coach said college recruiters were watching closely;
So, he tried his very best to make his dream come true.

You see, he’d played on the L’il Sooners as a kid;
Started getting serious about the game when he was only eight
Played with older, bigger boys and practiced hard;
Always told his friends, “To be a Sooner, ya gotta play great”.

Oh yes, his parents raised a football player;
And, even more important, a Sooners fan;
But he wanted more, to be a Sooner,
To feel the glory raining down from the stands.

Now, the Sooners’ Head Coach is in his living room.
“Son, you’ve got talent. We think you fit our scheme.
We’re offering you a scholarship, an opportunity
To be an important member of our great Sooners Team”.

His mother smiles her biggest smile.
His father nods proudly and pats him on the knee.
“Lord knows, son, it’s a dream come true.
Go be the very best Sooner you can be”.

He walks into the locker room,
Not quite sure what to expect;
But sure that to play for the Sooners
He will first have to earn respect.

He looks each man straight in the eye -
Other recruits, trainers, assistants, and every coach.
“Be proud, but respectful”, his mother had said;
Your character, more than your performance, must be above reproach”.

His handshake is firm and he smiles.
“Only one chance for a first impression”, his father had said;
"Always put yourself in positive light, on and off the field.
That’s what it will take to play for the mighty Big Red”.

He meets so many other recruits, each one a high school star.
He’s played against a few and knows they share his dream.
And, to a man, each knows before any chance for Glory,
He first must prove worthy to play for this Sooners Team.

He knows a few will fail to meet the coaches’ expectations.
For some, the scout team will be their fate.
Many will suit up, but rarely play.
Only the very best will ever dare to be great.

Coach says, “If every man learns and executes when called on,
Then this team, we Sooners, will win a lot of games;
But, win or lose, if you play hard and give your very best,
You’ll never have to hang your heads in shame”.

“But gentlemen, with or without you, this team will win.
Every season, the Sooners strive to win it All.
So, listen, work hard, and prepare yourselves. Each game is war...
And you must be ready when Victory calls”.

Through grueling practices, he finds himself.
As he walks to class, his closest friends are aches and pains;
But, just the other day, Coach helped him up, smiled, and patted his helmet.
“You’re doin’ fine, son. Keep pushin’. Remember, no pain, no gain”.

He sees his name on the "open scrimmage" roster for the very first time.
It’s a moment he’ll never forget, another milestone in his dream.
He calls his Mom and Dad, knowing they’ll tell his family and his friends.
He hopes they’ll actually see him play, proof he’s made the Team.

As he suits up for the last pre-season open scrimmage,
He wonders if the coaches would really let a freshman play at all;
But Coach puts him in for eight plays against the first team;
He makes two great open-field tackles and intercepts the ball.

He barely hears the roar of the crowd, as the whole defense “gives him five”.
He’s so excited, he forgets to ask if he can keep that ball.
Fans are buzzing, “Did you see that hit”!? “Who is that kid”!?
“Will he red shirt or will Coach let him play this fall”?

He sees his name in the Sunday paper, hears it on local sports.
He’s happy, but he doesn’t let it go to his head.
He keeps his focus and uses it as motivation.
After all, he wants to start one day for the mighty Big Red.

Yes, we’ll hear more of this young recruit.
Perhaps, one day he’ll be the hero of the game.
A seasoned veteran, maybe All Conference or even All American,
Who’s tasted Victory many times and helped glorify the Sooners’ name.

Oh yes, there have been so many who’ve aspired;
But many fewer who’ve actually made our Sooners Team.
They are our heroes, each and every one;
For it’s through their accomplishments, we fans can live the dream.

Billy Vessels, Steve Owens, Billy Sims, and Jason White,
The Selmons, Little Joe, the Boz, Josh Heupel, and “Q”
They, and so many others, were once touted Sooners recruits;
Who set a higher mark and built the Tradition that is OU.

So, c’mon! c’mon! all you great young football players!
Dedicate your talents to OU’s Team and OU’s Fans.
Make Oklahoma’s Owen Field your Field of Dreams,
And feel the Glory raining down from the stands.

We Miss You Uncle Herman

When we think of our friend Herman Weeks.
We think of a person very gracious and sweet!

He was always a pleasure to be around!
And brought laughter to his side of town!

From everyone that’s had a chance to meet him.
He was special! We’ll never forget him!

He was very humble, gracious and kind!
People like him are special! And hard to find!

We knew from the day that he met Snow.
She helped to make his empty life whole!

The creations and many things he made.
Were wonderful works of his hands displayed!

His service to the country and fellow man.
Is a beautiful gift that few understand!

Over the years, he’s brought joy to our hearts!
We’ve all loved him from the very start!

Thank you Lord! For blessing us from above.
For Herman and his heart filled with love.

We know now he’s in a better place.
Filled with God’s presence and his grace.

Our lives have been blessed to have him with us!
We’ll miss him! He sure has blessed us!

To Herman we give our hearts filled with cheer!
We love you very much and wish you were here!

Soul Sisters

Such an Amazing girl god put into my life.

He knew i needed you at that exact time

Funny when we met I thought you were to good for me

But when you approached me the sweetest girl I did meet.

From that day on we have never truly been apart cause I

carry you around everywhere in my heart. You have been the

rock when I needed a friend around, you have been the light

when the darkness consumed me and took away my sunshine

Even when were miles apart the phone connects us and keeps

our strongest bond. 17 years feels like such a short time but

I feel I have always had you in my life. Soul Sisters we were

meant to be.. You my beloved friend are such a fresh breeze

Even after a year apart it was like yesterday that we did part

so through the many miles and through the long hard road

I know this friendship will always survive. Your a burst of joy

to me each day I thank the Lord for the sweet blessing he gave!

Home of the Slaves

Land of the free
Home of the slaves
The blood, sweat and tears of my ancestors resonate
Amongst the soil where they were slain
I’m hearing their struggle
I’m feeling their pain
I can’t imagine being forced to part from my family
All for massa’s gain
So I pay homage to those who promoted change

People like every slave who tried to escape
Nat Turner, Ms Carlotta, Harriet Tubman
And the safe houses who were in accord
And peg leg Joe with his song
Follow the drinking gourd.

People like, the disregarded - those thrown overboard
And who was dismissed and defamed
The ones who were stripped of their soul, their pride, their names

The list could go on
The full will never be told
So I pay homage to others who were bold
Like John Brown, The Freedom Riders, Sojourner Truth
Ida B Wells, Phyllis Wheatley, Maya Angelou,
Langston Hughes and Charles Drew

George Washington Carver, Ruby Bridges
Booker T Washington and Mary McCleod Bethune
Charles Houston, Ralph Bunche, Fredrick Douglass
WEB Dubois, Paul Robeson, Ralph Abernathy
Benjamin Banneker, Marcus Garvey and Crispus Attucks
Who’s death by the way
Symbolized the American lie
You cant declare the rights of all men
While the people of African decent rights get denied
But still we rise

Thanks to Dr Martin Luther King, Malcolm X,
The Black Panthers, the Buffalo Soldiers and Tuskegee Airmen
None who were showed any love
Yeah it’s an uphill battle,
But obviously greatness can be done.

We can rise above this stigma
That blacks are lazy and daunting
That our worth is null and void
And in essence minus nothing
And of all the names mentioned
And the greatness of their successes
No one has been able to erase the evil transgressions of a racist mind
And once you have experienced just a taste of it
It changes your perception of time
The oppression beats like the drum on the chariot
Of when it was finally time to escape to freedom
It's mine

A Story My Mother Told Me

someone always told me this with tears in her eyes...

(for Lata Sethi's late-mother, who was my mother’s ‘sister’ and who took us all into her heart, and for Lata and Ravi Sethi of Defence Colony, New Delhi)

a wife left South Africa in the 1960’s to join her husband
who was in exile at the time...

in 1970 the husband was sent by the African National Congress to India to be its representative there...

the husband and wife spent two years in Bombay...

one afternoon the husband fell and broke his leg...

the wife knocked on their neighbour’s door, in an apartment complex in Bombay

the neighbour was an old Punjabi lady...

the wife asked the neighbour for a doctor to see to the injured husband...

a Parsi ‘Bone-Setter’ was promptly summoned...

the husband still recalls his anxiety of seeing ‘Bone-Setter’ written on the Parsi gentleman’s bag...

by the way, the ‘Bone-Setter’ worked his ancient craft and surprisingly for the husband, his broken leg healed quite soon...

but still on that day, while the ‘Bone-Setter’ was seeing to the husband...

the wife and the old Punjabi lady from next door got to talking about this and that and where these new Indian-looking wife and husband were from as their accents were clearly not local...

the wife told the elderly Punjabi lady that the husband worked for the African National Congress of South Africa and had left to serve the ANC from exile...

and that they had left their two children behind in South Africa and that they were now essentially political refugees...

the Punjabi lady broke down and wept uncontrollably...

she told the foreign woman that she too had had to leave her home in Lahore in 1947 and flee to India with only the clothes on her back when the partition of the subcontinent took place and Pakistan was formed and at a time when Hindus from Pakistan fled to India and vice versa...

the Punjabi lady then asked the foreign woman her name...

‘Zubeida’, but you can call me ‘Zubie’...

the Punjabi woman hugged Zubie some more, and the two women, seperated by age and geography, wept, sharing a shared pain...

the Punjabi woman told Zubie that she was her ‘sister’ from that day on, and that she felt that pain of exile and forced migration and what being a refugee felt like...

Zubie and her husband Mosie became the closest of friends with the Hindu Punjabi neighbours who were kicked out of Pakistan by Muslims...

then came the time for Mosie and Zubie to leave for Delhi where the African National Congress office was based...

the elderly Punjabi lady and Mosie and Zubie said their goodbyes...

a year or two later, the elderly Punjabi lady’s daughter Lata married Ravi Sethi and the couple moved to Delhi...

the elderly Punjabi lady called Zubie and told her that her daughter was coming to Delhi to live and that she had told Lata, her daughter that she had a ‘sister’ in Delhi...

Lata and Ravi Sethi then moved to Delhi...

This was in the mid-1970’s...

Lata and Zubie became the closest of friends and that bond stayed true, and stays true till today, though Zubie is no more, and the elderly Punjabi lady is no more...

the son and the husband still have a bond with Lata and Ravi Sethi...

a bond that was forged between Hindu and Muslim and between two continents across the barriers of creed and time...

a bond strong and resilient, forged by the pain and trauma of a shared experience...

and that is why, and I shall never stop believing this, that hope shines still, for with all the talk of this and of that, and of that and of this, there will always be a simple woman, somewhere, anywhere, who would take the ‘other’ in as a sister, a fellow human...

and that is why there will always be hope...
hope in the midst of this and of that and of that and of this...

hope...

(for Lata Sethi's late-mother, who was my mother’s ‘sister’ and who took us all into her heart, and for Lata and Ravi Sethi of Defence Colony, New Delhi)

US in JesUS

Before we were thought of or time had started,
God put US in His Son’s name..

And each time we pray, you'll see its true,
You can't spell Jesus without including US.
Were a pretty big part of His wonderful name,
For US, He was born;

And His great love for US is the reason He died.
Isn't it thrilling and splendidly grand
He rose from the dead, with US in His plan?

The stones split away, the gold trumpet blew, egospelexpress
And His resurrection was for US.

As JesUS left the earth with His wonderful ascension,
When He felt there was one thing He just had to mention.

"Go into the world and tell them it's true
that I love them all - Just like I love you."

So many people are Christian brothers and sisters,
Don't all the others have a right to know JesUS too?

It all depends on what we do,
He'd like them all to know,
But it all starts with US.

With This New Day

I have lived,
And felt the cost,
Paid my dues,
But I have lost_ You.

 Still I pray,
As chaos looms,
And as my blue turns into grey,
I hear__
The angels sing- In tune.

 Don't be giving in,
Don't give up my son,
Or fade away,
Lift your chin with the sun__ And rise,
With this new day!.

 I have lived,
And felt the cost of all my wonderin ways,
I've paid my dues,
I - Have lost you.

I can hear the angels sing,
Your in a mistaken land__ Lessons learned in truth,
As the grey seeks out the blue,
She will__ Your daughter my son---
She will return--- To You.

For I have lived,
Felt the cost of all my walkin days,
I've paid my dues,
I- Lost you....

I wont be giving in,
Won't give up my girl,
Or fade away,
I'll lift my chin with the sun---
And RISE--
With this new day...

I pray for mother

   I pray for mother

	Mother!
You could have stayed
Forever was my longing
Oh mother!
Does it really have to be you?
Mothers are too special to lose

You gave me life mother
You raised me into a man I am today
I will forever be grateful to you
Out of nothing, you gave me food
Out of nothing, you clothed me
Out of nothing, you sent me to school
Oh mother!
You were the best

In your shadow I had shade
You called me Father.
For I carried grandfather’s name
Now I understand how special I was to you
You felt grandfather in me
Who will ever call me that again?
I forbid my thoughts to go deep
For the deeper it goes, the deeper it hurts

I can still hear your voice mother
I can still see you in my dreams
You left without saying good-bye,
Were you mad at me mother?
Deep in my heart, you will always have a home
My sisters and brothers are heartbroken
They are all grown up
But they still need you Mother

Do you still remember your grandchildren?
The youngest is not yet a year old
She will never see your beautiful smile mother
You could have waited
So she does something for you
Fetch water or call you grandmother

We all miss you mother
It’s hard to know you are never coming back
One after another
We will join you mother
We are not afraid of death any more
For we have a place with you
God almighty will meet us someday
Then I will see you for myself again
We will talk and laugh
Just like we used too

Now you live in a far away land
We can’t change that, not even God almighty
I will teach my heart to live without you mother
Though it is hard
I will learn to miss you
I will learn to live without you
But I will never forget you
It’s the body I will never see

Your time is gone Mother
Now you live in a new world
There you will never grow old
There you will never die
I have peace in my heart
For I am reconciled by God’s mercy
My father in heaven comforted me
Now I know you are happy there
The pain I felt
The pain that tortured me
Will never torment me again
You departed with all my tears
With all my strength
With all my hope
And with all my faith
But God gave me a thousand reasons to smile
In am now back on track

Rest in peace dear mother,
It was the will of God
Who am I to question him?
I never did when you were given to me
And somehow I knew this day will come
Let his name be exalted
We meet again Mother
This I know.

You Alone

Look at you, you have found my heart
With love I stare into your eyes
With passion I devise
I can not part with you or can not stop the things I have started

So I raise my hands to embrace you and you alone

Look I walk by your side and I found my self crying
With your hands so soft with gentleness
With your smile so beautiful with carefulness
I do notice life with you without sighing

So I raise my hands to embrace you and you alone

Without a fear of losing you, you are in my visions
With beautiful roses by your side
I love you more than twelve times
Without doubt I do love you, I care for you and you alone

So do not walk away
Please lets talk about things anyway
With feelings of letting you go is make me ache in the heart
Do not stop believing my passion has fallen apart

So I raise my hands to embrace you and you alone

Look I want us to grow old with each other through years of journeys
With hope of sharing life of fulfillment that gives us memories
With this I hope to give all of my faith and I hope it is not to late
I Look into your eyes with such full life because you have been my life date

So I raise my hands to embrace you and you alone

And you alone

So I raise my hands to embrace you

you alone

THE HAND, A Mechanical Genius

To God I am thankful for many gifts;
But none more than a creative mind,
And the hands which are the finest tool,
With abilities to create that I easily can find.

As a child I first learned to cherish
My God-given opposable thumb,
Knowing how versatile a device
It is for whacking a fortuitous homerun.

And stubby fingers were early to meet,
And with artistic freedom employ,
All the many vividly colored crayons
To make graphic forms and scenes to enjoy.

And off running into the world of nature,
My hands kept quite busy in work and play.
Without them I found that I couldn’t climb
Nor protect myself in the occasional fray.

My hands loved to tighten and repair my bike,
Seeming to be a mechanic of special training,
Taught by a higher intelligence unknown
For handling every task without complaining.

With maturity the hand becomes more adept,
A magical marvel for all creation to behold.
And in God’s world of many forms to grasp,
It becomes an unique gift worth more than gold.

Then you find there’s nothing your hands can’t do,
‘Cause God has made them in His special way,
With the same loving care you make toys for a child,
Who might find nothing any better for hours of play.

We need to show God that we feel very blessed,
That He was the architect of this precious treasure;
So that we may join with Him in majestic fashion,
Giving the world with fervent impact endless pleasure.

Coming From Where I'm From

Coming from where I’m from
By Nate Spears
Published 2013 in “Death OF A Rose” By Nate Spears

Coming from where I’m from
Every day is a battle to survive
War is in session
Right before our eyes

Each day we battle lessons
Just to be in the running for blessings
Coming from where I’m from
We move rapidly on missions

The dead is alive with every walk of the lifeless
Limited income withholds wealth
The living is near death
Spirits are stripped of guilt

Coming from where I’m from
Deprived wealth
Creates bad health
In occurrence to this
Good feelings are killed

The worst gets exposed
As times get worse
Financial situations become a disaster
No man on earth can rehearse

The world is broken
Hunger brings harm
Coming from where I’m from
Dictatorship is not fond

The environment brings the need to shoot
These activities loosens the roots
We’re grounded by values as thin as a pin
We lose ourselves at falling rates like bowling pens

No free passes
Prisons filled in masses
Separated by classes
Coming from where I’m from.

Sunken Tears

                                   He stood bravely before me
with a medal of honor in his right hand
and a bandage of agony around his left knee
It seemed like he had struggled to stand,
his crutches lay useless on the ground
I found it hard to understand why,
a soldier in pain didn't even frown
With a voice firm but dry
his words shook me like thunder
"You're now the man of this house"
he uttered like a worn-out hunter
quivering up my legs like a terrified mouse
Drowning my mind through cold ears
he passed his sincere respect and sunken tears

Legend of the Red October Run

Dedicated to the 2000 National College Football Champions, the Oklahoma Sooners

--------------------------------------------------------------

Over fifty years, boy and man, I’ve been a Sooners fan
Watched and reveled in their glories, every one;
But there’s no more glorious “Sooner Magic”
Than the Red October Run.

The new millennium's first football season,
Excited Sooners fans’ hopes did soar.
They had tasted victory in Bob Stoops’ first year;
Now, they wanted - no, expected - even more.

There was a glint of promise in Bob’s eyes,
Strength and confidence in his every word.
“Our Team has shown improvement”, is what he said;
“We’ll win!” is what fans heard.

By September’s end, the Sooners were 4 and O,
A “cupcake schedule” some anxious fans would say;
Twenty-two days in October would rule their destiny.
Texas, K-State, Nebraska, the teams they’d have to play.

“OU’s October is a gauntlet”, said ESPN;
“Play #10 and #2 and #1…and win”?
So, on a rainy Saturday morning in Dallas,
The Red October Run would begin.

The Texas State Fair at the Cotton Bowl,
Fans were welcomed by Big Tex.
They screamed, “Go OU!” and “Hook’em Horns!”;
But none could imagine what happened next.

Heupel was a dominating General;
The Sooners Offense, his relentless troops.
Calmus and the Defense assured a total rout,
The Coach of the Day was Bob Stoops.

Sooners fans were wild, delirious with glee;
But Bob seemed focused and sedate.
“We’ll enjoy this victory Sunday;
Then Monday, we’ll prepare for Kansas State”.

No time to revel in the Glory, #2 was tough.
Better than the Huskers? The possibility was real.
The road to #1 went through Manhattan,
And the Sooners would have to win it on the field.

The sportscasters had a field day.
Last year’s “coaching coup” was news again.
Beasley versus Heupel was “The Match-up”.
Could Heupel evade K-State’s awesome defense
and find a way to win?

Again, Heupel and his troops met the challenge;
And as the Sooners “D” assured a hard fought win,
Every Sooners fan’s heart was stirred.
Could our Sooners be “Big Red” again?

Mighty Nebraska, #1, was coming to Owen Field.
“Biggest OU - Nebraska game in years!” Corso said.
It would be 1 versus 2, a heralded gridiron epic
For the coveted title of…”Big Red”.

It was OU’s biggest home game ever.
The campus was alive with vendors and would-be
   ticket buyers.
Every Sooners Fan’s heart was pounding.
Could the smell of #1 stoke the Sooners' fires?

The Huskers struck so quickly.
At 14 to nothing, Sooners fans were stunned.
It was shaping up to be a long, long day;
And it wasn’t going to be fun.

Quickly tho’, Heupel rallied his Sooners troops.
They scored and scored and scored again.
The Sooners “D” built a Wall at the 50,
And would not let the Huskers in.

Winners, the Sooners ran and jumped with glee.
Fans flooded Owen Field, milling all around,
Praising and hugging their Sooners Heroes.
They even tore the goal post down.

Now #1, the Sooners had won it on the field.
Their preparation had been well taught.
Bob Stoops, all his great coaches and assistants,
Took pride in how the Sooners fought.

Someone once said, “Everyone loves a winner.”
Everywhere you looked confirmed it’s true.
OU flags fluttered. Decals, hats, and clothes abound.
Come November, the Sooners and their Fans
    had been renewed,

There’s no slighting the importance of Red October.
The Sooners came together as a Team.
No doubt too, without “The Red October Run”
Their National Championship would still be just a dream.

For the next five games, it was simply unacceptable
For the Sooners to even think that they could fail;
And, tho’ Heupel played injured, they won the Big 12 Championship;
Great Sooners Defense had prevailed.

But no one gave these Big 12 Champs the slightest chance to win
Against the mighty Seminoles of Florida State.
The Heisman Trophy Winner was their quarterback
And their defense was touted to be great.

At the coin toss, Team Captain Torrance Marshall
Said to their quarterback in words most serious and sure,
“You took our boy’s trophy”. Then he smiled,
“Now we’re gonna take yours”.

The Sooners “D” was everywhere and completely shut them down;
And, when Quentin Griffin’s touchdown closed the door,
Their quarterback knew that Marshall’s words rang true;
The not-so-mighty ‘Noles had not been allowed to score.

Yes, Bob Stoops and his Sooners knew the challenge:
To win Each game ‘til Every game’s been won;
Win for Sooners and their Fans the unchallenged right
To revel in the Glory of being #1.

Yes, my Sooners Team goes on and on,
Different faces, different names;
But these Sooners Champions will be well remembered
For the Season they won Every game.

Undefeated National Champions!
Before October, who would have ever dreamed?
Why, just last year, we didn’t even know the players' names;
And now, they’re College Football’s Greatest Team.

To overcome all adversity and rise to every challenge,
The reward for such a feat is being #1;
Their path to Glory born of a Sooners Legend
Called The Red October Run.

Promise

Promise
By: IzaDonna

You were such a young boy
With a tragic past
I know it still haunts you
Feeling like the pain will always last
Just remember, Just remember
I'm here for you
Keep your strength up
And always stay true

Chorus:
So make me a promise
A promise that you'll keep
Better your life
Before your into deep
I'll stick with you
Even when I'm gone
Watching from heaven
As you carry on
That's my promise

I know its a struggle
Fighting the demons of your past
Don't worry brother
I'll pick u up when ur falling fast
And always in my eyes
No matter what you do
I'll always have you back
No matter the decision you choose

Chorus

So when you feel
Like you wanna give in
Keep your head up
Remember where u've been
Find your inner strength
And moving toward
What you wanna achieve
Always push forward

Chorus X2

How my life was transformed

I’m going to tell a story now of a man who having served his time in a war torn country, but due to a very sensitive nature suffered from what they like to call ‘Post traumatic stress disorder’, he was like this for many, many years, with all the symptoms of anger, paranoid, fear and anxiety, and was impossible to live with. He had studied everything from self help gurus, to spiritual teachers to conventional counselling {that man was I} but nothing helped, I just got worse and worse, which ended up in me leaving home, and in the process throwing away every thing I had ever built up, that was half way decent. After a year I went back home, my tail between my legs, to try over. But no, I was still impossible to live with, and there was never any real peace with me around. I had tried every kind of meditation, self hypnosis, positive thinking, and nothing worked. The writing did help me quite a bit, but it was never enough.

Then one day I discovered on the net an American gentleman, named John Sherman. I went on his site, at no cost whatsoever And I heard what he said, when he told me one simple thing to do. He told me to go behind my thoughts and just look at me
The me that is there behind all the thoughts and emotions when everything is gone; The me one speaks about when he or she points to themselves and says ‘me‘. Now this seemed so simplistic to me, and I kind of scoffed at it, but I tried it anyway, because I was rather desperate to bring about some changes, and I had tried everything else. it was so easy for me, and I started to do it whenever it came to me to do so. This was four years ago now, and I have practiced what he said religiously.

Now, four years later I am a different being, the anger is gone, the misery is non existent, My fear of death is all but gone, and I feel like life is one big wonderful dance. If anyone has troubles of this kind and cannot lead a peaceful life… go to
‘www.justonelook.org’ And let John and his wife Carla help you, there are no conditions no religion and definitely no payments to be made. Just felt I had to tell someone about the Sherman’s, because of what happened to me Peter.

Thank You

As you are day
I am night
As I am night
You are day
When I was blind you
were my sight
In the hours of darkness
you were my guiding light
Like the moon and the stars
that shine so bright
You navigated me home
in the foggiest of nights.

The heavens have sent you
this I do not doubt
As i tally my blessings
I take you into count
For you were the only one
to help me surmount.

No longer wanting to live
a life of sedation
As I walk the road to self revelation
I carry a heart full of love,
respect and appreciation
For the one whom helped me
claim my throne of salvation.

               THANK YOU

THE MUSIC MAN

At eases rest, he sits waiting,
The guitarist.
Withered arthritic hands,
Shake now.
His study gaze strains,
To read the noted page.
Thoughts drifting, pondering,
A gentler pace.
Reflections pause, amongst,
Remembrance still waters.
Life's forgotten rambler,
Traveling along destiny’s,
Long lost highways.
Castaways absent player,
In limbos mindless game.
A migrant hobo,
Leaving reality's seasonal,
Venues behind.
God's harvest lies beyond,
In glories golden fields.
No lyrics express liberation’s,
Abandonment, freedoms release,
From pains well worn shell.
Lifted above griefs, loving kindred,
Peal away regrets many veils,
Layer by layer exposing,
Destiny's beauty in misty hews.
A new adventure begins,
On horizons, magnificent canvas,
Behold a grand expanse.
A spirit soars, following an
Everlasting light.
It is peace without expression,
Mankind’s ultimate fulfillment,
And loves final achievement.
Celebrations joy receives salvation's,
Lost lamb.
In hymens sacred choir he'll join in,
Playing God's gospel, angel's voices,
Are raised in praise.
Strumming at his best,
Within divinities,
Heavenly band.
Sweet melodies song echoes,
Beneath stars shinning light.
The music man smiles,
I've finally come home at last.

Dedication to Everyone

I feel that I have found a home in this cyberspace
with full of hearts and ideas in a special place
I wonder of all the people in the world to make me smile
with antics that help me grow in every mile
I do want to say to all of the people with respect
because of all of you my mind is not in a wreck
I would lie if I did not get ideas from all of you
without you my poems would not come true
I bless everyone with care
with kindness and without dis-pare
I hold my hands high and put them together
with this I bless you with good weather
I do read some of the poems that people put out
sometimes I feel with out a doubt
I feel the pain in the poems that some has revealed
with hopes that they can read with their mind not sealed
I smile a bunch with every word
it is like a music in my head making a cord
I do want you all to know that you have made my day
to be a better day in every different array
I cherish my time with all the people in my heart
the words flow in my mind is just but a start
I'm happy with everyone in PoetrySoup.com
with hardship that came this cyberspace makes me calm
I cannot choose five cause if I do I don't think it's right
just to tell you that is just my own insight
I thank all for helping me grow with all the poems that are shown
with faith and humor, with views of kindness this site has grown

If I had to say or dedicate my poems to who
would be the first five who reads my poems with a point of view

Cactus Heart

You would assume I am thirsty in this dire heat,
Or that my needles would cause others to quickly retreat,
You would conclude that my flowers were only for show
Or that if someone didn’t water me I would never grow,
But what you don’t see in plain eye sight
Is that I am flourishing with waters of integrity and might,
Under these thorns you call choked up defenses
Breeds the strength to survive all forms and pretenses,
To you I require little maintenance… but I know better,
I know how to absorb all I need in good and bad weather,
For I was strategically placed in this atmosphere,
All I need dwells in my structure enabling me to stay clear
Of beasts that lurk when sandstorms arise,
When mirages start to mesmerize,
When signs and wonders appear in fallen skies,
And soldiers forget to break ancient soul ties,
I stand my post and flaunt my spikes,
A cactus heart survives all flights.

The Nameless - for South Africans of all colours who fought for freedom

The Nameless

Slipping through the sieve of history,

the nameless rest.

Not for the nameless are roads renamed, nor monuments built.

Not for the nameless are songs sung, nor ink spilled.

The nameless rest.

Their silent sacrifice,

quiet ordeal,

muted trauma,

remain interred,

amongst their remains.

The nameless rest.

Not for the nameless are doctorates conferred, nor eulogies recited.

Not for the nameless are honours bestowed, nor homages directed.

The nameless rest.

They rest within us,

they walk with us,

in every step that we tread.

They rest within us,

they walk with us,

for their spirit is not dead.

“Your name is unknown, your deed is immortal”
- inscription at The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier WWII in Moscow

Special thanks to my dearest elder sister Tasneem Nobandla Moolla, whose conversations with me about life as a non-white person growing up in pre and post-Apartheid South Africa prompted me to write this dedication to the countless, nameless South Africans of every colour, whose sacrifices and dedication in the struggle against Apartheid tyranny must never be forgotten.

My sister’s middle name ‘Nobandla’ which is an isiXhosa name and means “she who is of the people” was given by her godfather, Nelson Mandela, my father’s ‘best-man who could not be, as Nelson Mandela was unable to-make it to my parent’s wedding as he was in jail at the time in the old Johannesburg Fort. This was the 31st December 1961.

THE AMAZON

Invisible figures moving in the mists of time,
Hidden female phantoms, masters of the wilderness
Wild, blending in as chameleons, they are the unseen.
Legend's cryptic tribe.
Maidens veiled beneath mysteries coverlet’s of beauty,
Vanishing, as if a vapors mystic dream, created by ancient
Historic mythology.
But nay the Amazons, were fierce fighting warriors,
Battle hardened women, whom lived by the basic instincts.
Of survival and honor.
Unbridled by the whims of society, no chains bondage,
Could restrain their desire to be free from mans law.
Liberation's winds moistened their lips, and inflated
The lungs of these warrior women.
Nomads raised on the theology, that man are inferior creatures,
To be used as beasts of burden, or at leisure’s pleasure,
Nothing more.
Skilled in the art of war, renowned for courage’s
Unyielding voracity, armored maidens of legend,
And for raw endurance’s strength of will.
Blow the golden horn of victory's challenge,
As the ancient archer thus thread's her bow,
In anticipation of the battle to begin.
Drawn swords at the ready, do you not
Hear their ancestral cry to arms, take
No prisoners alive.
Shield maidens whom answer to know man,
But only the Gods themselves,
Behold they are the Amazons.
Shoulder to shoulder, and back to back,
Shields raised glistening in the sun.
The battle lines are drawn in history,
A fierce fighting force by all accounts
Renowned, to legacy's ancient passage,
For all women to be proud of generations
Forward to come, remember their battle hymn.
Freedom sisters, can you not taste it's
Flavor of liberation, carried on destiny's
Four winds, I'll raise my cup in tributes
Honor unto them, known as the Amazons.

Jesus Has Given So Much

What Shall I Do? For the One Who Gave So Much? What shall I do? For the one who gave so much? God reached down, and blessed me, with his touch! What shall I do? To my lord who bled and died? It was for my life, that Jesus was crucified! What shall I do? To the God who truly loves me? He has made it know that he wants to be with me! What shall I do? For the many who’ve “lost their way?” Please dear Jesus… Give me the right words to say! What shall I do? As my way of, expressing my gratitude? May God help me to have a Christ’ like attitude! What will YOU do? In this time that God’s given to you? He’s here right now! And is patiently waiting for you! What will YOU do? Will you give God a chance ? Won’t you accept his salvation? Whatever the circumstance? What Christ will do… Is to do, what he does best! Simply give him your life! He’ll take care of the rest! What Christ has done…. Is to give life everlasting! Everything you need… Is right here, for the asking! By Jim Pemberton

Tomorrow is Ours

Tomorrow is Ours.

Suffocating beneath the weight of historical fear,
asphyxiated by the legacy of traumatised yesteryear,

the festering wounds of enslavement still remain,
juggling euphemisms in a crisp sound-bitten refrain,

spewing out neo-liberal economic charades,
doling out charity in strips of plastic band-aids,

but,

tomorrow shall be ours,

casting away subservient mind-sets that shackle,
no longer the weakened prey of the insatiable jackal,

tomorrow shall be ours,

we shall reclaim our plundered mindspaces,
we shall shed our chains, leaving behind the traces,

of past injustice, of the hurt and pain of our ancestors' sorrows,

we are here, now, alive with hope,

we shall rightfully claim our own tomorrows.

THE FULL MOON BLOOMS

Tonight, the full moon blooms
And foils the looming gloom.
The remnant doom from noon
Has lost it's bullish tune.
And embraces dusk's eerie cool.

The village square it illuminates
Arena of moonlight tales of late
The little ones gather and wait
While the elderly engage in debates
And the goats noisily ruminates

The bright night, lights sparks
Of bliss and joy in trees' barks
The tall iroko whistle in parks
Where young lovers end their tracks
And skimpy skirts lose their tacks

The son of perdition frets unsure
The thief in the night fears exposure
The pirate sailor steers from ashore
The night fisherman denied action
For the kind light bathes the ocean

Tonight, the full moon beams proud
As the town crier makes his round
Belting forth a piercing sound.
While the town's chorus echoes loud
The stage is set for the yearning crowd

WOMAN

Day by day we pray to stay alive, ladies, the face of this world is slowly changing, no longer do we need to hold our heads in disgrace, and it’s about time we take our place. No longer let us be connived, nor let us forget the silent cries in trees that our sista’s souls are still hangin’, see the true in others denies rather waistin’ yourself complaining. Nor keep us from strength to stand by man, strength to leave if struck by hand, no more bruises upon our face for we also help to make this race. No more scars upon our souls for only marked with beauty moles and let our stories be fortold for we are women who behold, a key to inspiration and moral pride, coming out of our hide, Gods rules are to which one should only apply, but most chose pain to keep inside, left alone and died. Your elimination of God’s creation, we are but faith to this nation. Men of ignorance we are sick of belligerence, cuz we prove intelligence, cuz where there’s no woman there is no man strong and on this land we belong as distinct and separate persons walk along. Before your ignorance get the respect that you so vainly seek, practice what you claim til' all things you do or speak shall in reality be the same, nor let us be so eased to blame and give us our well earned past due fame, all musical and sorrowful stories contained. My people, make me proud to know your name and I’ll return the favour by doing the same.
For all men whom think us fast, remember the good ones always finish last, we women are still raped future and past so personally you can kiss my ... In us your babies wombs all your life fluids we consume, to mothers growing up too soon, to those mommas babies and daddy’s maybes.....REMEMBER, when your round to actin' shady, we are the ladies of this land, women with pride we stand, I am a WOMAN and for equal respect, I would do it again!!!

LIGHT A CANDLE FOR LINDA

Cascading water falls flow, in the infinite
Stream of life's circle of harmony.
Cast thus forget-me-knots asunder, upon
The rushing currents of time, for we shall
Meet again dear friend, and drink deeply,
From the wells of remembrance.
Keepsake's dearest treasure are these reflections,
In the stilled ponds beneath, I see thee their,
And remember lines of courage, written with a
Gentle hearts wisdom.
It is harsh some may say, that the divine spirit,
Took thee away, so quick and without warning.
But a higher powers choose is not to be questioned,
All seasons have there time, and reason for being.
We'll miss thy kindness, and your sweetness,
Tender lady of clarity's perfection.
But I believe in guardian angels, whom watch
Over those dearest spirits left behind ,
From heavens gates thee can see us below,
And gently stirs us away from harsh troubles
Shoals.
I'll light a candle in my window tonight, in
Honor tribute for Linda's contribution, has touched
Many lives.

FURIES

Who shall dare to die or to love among the Furies?
Not carry us by lustiness rather by the purpose, wisdom
Whose radiant rage welcomes you and the ambiguities?
And if that unfair, dropsy with pain, then none creates martyrdom;
To recall part of our age, oh bone! The hide prize
From our own mistake in front of the angers and crimes
Aside what left, for in the bloody world that appear to allegorize
And the hate melt cannot freeze from the above cleomes;
Remember we pass through, seal by a target unseen
From a God to subserve in massive, superlove, with such thing
Longingly upon the unforgiving hills from that delirious tween
Of the idea, screaming from every angles the abjuring
Horizon in red; and throw into inflammation,
A day end, nothing to reconcile, a caste of passion.

Thank you for the beautiful memory
you left on my mind
you are not dead
 but you are not here,

to me you are gone,
cos i cant feel you the way i used to,
everything you used to do are left untouched
the space you ocupied is empty,

our yesterday is fading away like the rainbow
so beautiful but so short,
how can i forget the endless yesterday?
when you are here with me.

A Caring Man

There comes to us each Thursday morning

One very interested in our group sharing

The texts to be used the next Sunday

His explanations of the verses help hear what they say

Our questions asked, sometimes simple, sometimes deep

His answers almost never put us to sleep

The Spirit speaks through this spiritual man

Understandable words spoken like few can

An hour Bible study, most times extended by half

Quite often interspersed with a hearty laugh

Who is this teacher/preacher sent to us to speak

Knowledgeable words our hearts seek

That one who longs for God's word, our hearts to fill

The one known to all of us as our friend, Pastor Bill

With the passion of a soldier at war
She is honorable, respectful, worthy and more

Souless Society

Yeah Im living in a souless society,
My people keep doing each other wrong so much its hard to get right with me,
Its so dark with alcoholic violence that I can no longer see the light in me,
Survival of the fittest I am no longer because there remains almost no fight in me,
I struggle with death around one in all forms of variety,
I am so low at times that there can be no one high as me,
A lot of non-sense for my body I keep buying me,
at the same time my own people keep fighting me,
but its time I just say "**** it"
and kick all that *****to the curve away in the bucket,
I hate the truth so much that I start to love it,
Creating a mind full of knowledge gold, a mind full of many nuggets,
Now its time I face my own truth even if my own people lie to me,
I can and I will overcome this souless price that seems too pricey,
**** all that bull-*****I will rise out my own souless society

EVERY BREATH IS FOR YOU

Jesus you keep me breathing
You are my reason for living
Every breath I take to you I’m giving
Thanks to you I’m still surviving
I have very subtle moments between the inhale and the exhale
But I won’t let stress provoke me to scream and yell
My every breath has become like the metronome that centers my gravity, it gives me a beat
That metronome I have is giving my spirit rhythm now I’m moving my feet
In my breathing I sometimes find internal rhythm
Lately my vision has given my pen wisdom
So every word I write from my insightful vision I will inspire
From the words I recite that I write, to uplift you and spark that fire
Let me catch my breath because I have so much to say
I cannot seem to stop because I keep penning it every day
Every breath I take is very valuable to me
When I breathe my body feels free
So every breath I take is words that I say
But with those words I rather say I love you to Jesus when I pray

"JESUS I LOVE YOU SO MUCH FOR ALWAYS LOVING ME!"

Gift Of Mortality

An earthly existence
A universe beyond my minds, comprehension
I die
I rise
Life lessons reviewed
Homeward bound
I am not lost, after all!
I am a willing participant
Serving, the Father, of all creation
His son combined, ‘producing life’ as we know it
Representing them, in everything I do
I am nothing, without Love!
My heart full of faith, loyal service I give
Learning how to unconditionally serve, as the Father unconditionally, loves me
Worshipping our Divine Creator’s existence
Choosing to live, moment to moment
Being as one with ‘Our Universal Father’
No physical permanency
My physicality, disappearing
My mortality existence, I let go of
Death temporary
My spirit alive!
Relief, Peace
‘I am only passing through!’
A unique, experience of mortality
A gift, I am blessed to experience, to live!

Never Forget

I once saw a child standing under the flag
He asked why it hung there half-way

I thought it’d be easy to say what it meant
But couldn’t find right words to say

I wasn’t too sure that he would understand
My talk about war and on death

So I tried to find words that I thought he could grasp
So I paused and then took a deep breath

Before I could speak he then shot up his hand
And shouted “I know what it’s for!”

“They did the same thing after my dad had died
Because he was killed in the war”

He continued to say “now my dad is in heaven
And that’s why the flag’s raised half-way”

“To let my dad know and all soldiers who died
We’ll remember them always today”

He stopped and stared at me-I looked in his eyes
He suddenly lowered his head

Tears ran down his cheeks and then he took my hands
And wiped them away and then said

“It makes me feel sad-just seeing the flag
I know that it means someone died”

I then felt my tears-that couldn’t hold back
I picked him up and we both cried

On memorial days when the flag is half-raised
I remember that kid that I met

Now that I’m a dad I will make sure my son
Understands so he’ll never forget

If You Were

If you were a penny, I’d keep you in my front pocket every day.
I’d shine and cleanse you daily, washing all troubles and woes away.
If you were a diamond ring, on my finger is where you’d stay.
I’d shine the stone feverishly, parting all frets and worries astray.

If you were a novel, I’d place you at the very front of the shelf,
I’d tear out the pages of misery, and swallow the depression myself.
If you were as free as a butterfly, I’d cup you within my hands.
I’d whisper all my secrets, then release you from all commands.

If you were a painting, I’d pose you directly over so all could see,
I’d dust away the tears and guilt, inhaling the particles inside of me.
If you were a bronze statue, I would polish you until you shined.
I’d scour away the torment, and any melancholy I should find.

If you were a flower, I’d pluck the petals of bane from your life,
I’d water and feed you frequently, nourishing the roots of strife.
If you were an eagle, I’d admire your rare beauty from above,
I’d watch you slowly soar into the horizon, taking with you,
my heart, my soul and love.

A Box of Hope and Dreams

I keep my dreams and aspirations,
stored away neatly in this box.
Tied off with a pretty pink ribbon,
secured tightly with key and lock.

And every time I feel like a failure,
I open it, so I can again feel alive.
Arms of dreams tightly surround me,
giving me strength I need to survive.

I’ve hidden this box in a secret place,
where I’m the only who can see.
A beautiful box of hopes and dreams,
finely sewn with love at the seams.

This box is opened quite frequently,
especially when we’re apart –
this rhetorical box of memories,
in perfect synch with each beat of my heart

Somewhere Tonight a Soldier Stands

Somewhere tonight a soldier stands
The fate of freedom in his hands
He mans his post, he stands his ground
In trouble spots the world around
He could be 18 or over 30
All spit and polish or down and dirty
He might be wearing Army green
Or the uniform of a proud Marine
He could be Air Force flying cover
Or Navy in their crafts that hover
He could be Coast Guard on a river
No matter what he will deliver
He’s pledged to give up life and limb
If that is what is asked of him
And all he’ll ask for in return
Is the respect that he has earned
These footsteps that he chose to follow
Echo through the years so hollow
His grandpa’s grandpa’s grandpa’s fought
With Washington their freedom sought
They rode with Grant or maybe Lee
Fighting for their family
And when the Kaiser declared war
They joined to give the guy what for
Then when that German Hitler reigned
They signed up for that war’s campaign
Korea in some frozen field
They stood their ground, there was no yield
And in the jungle, Vietnam
Never knowing peace and calm
They fight despite the known syndrome
Of what awaits them back at home
In Desert Storm and in Iraq
And Afghanistan, they have our back
They fight for honor, fight with pride
But through the years so many died
Though some may question why they fought
Let’s end this now with this one thought
Somewhere tonight a soldier stands
The fate of freedom in his hands

 6/25/12

We have a history club here in our community and the chairman of the club asked if I would write a poem for an upcoming meeting all about Vietnam with vets from each of the service talking about their experiences during that war. I wrote two poems - this is one I will read at the meeting.

The Broken Girl-not me

Is my life not tortured enough for you to see?
I am broken as can be.
My heart is torn.
My tears stain these perfect floors.
Why are singing with glee?
Why do you not care about my every plea?
I am trapped in your arms.
I am the hopeless moth.
How did you pick me?
What is it that you see?
A girl untouched by life?
A flower blooming in the desert?
I have said goodbye to my loving integrity.
You took that from me through R-A-P-E.

For the Dying Orphan

I let you die for my name As you reached for my hands Out of waters of drowning What a hypocrite this writer is The Hatred of Solitude Letting an orphan dream Then destroy him with knowledge Of what you have done He opened up to you In new ways But in nostalgic guises The springwinds whisper blithe yore But the winterwinds, much stronger Caress you with the dreams of your funeral sky “It was you… it was your fault… Letting the one who was so open to you Be the laugh… the piece in the game…”

Be Thankful

Be thankful for the planet we live on.
Be thankful for the families we have.
Be thankful for the countries we live in.
Be thankful for the money we earn.

God gave us peace on Earth.
God introduced our moms to our dads.
God gave us many cultures to learn about.
God gives us skills to use wisely.

Be thankful for our special gifts.
Be thankful for rich and poor alike.
Be thankful for the food we eat.
Be thankful for the clothes we wear.

God gave us talents to share with the world.
God cares for the rich and poor;
No more or no less.
God gave us clothes to keep us warm.
God gave us food so we do not starve.

Be thankful for the homes we live in.
Be thankful for the transportation we use.
Be thankful for the children we love.
Be thankful for who we are.

God gives us shelter to keep kids off the streets.
God gives us cars, planes, and trains to get around.
God will soon make these children leaders of the future.
God made you and He made me.
We are the leaders of today.

The Poetry of Yeats

His words calm me when I'm restless
bringing beauty to my world.
I get shivers, I must confess
when his passionate verse is unfurled.

I once threw a penny of brown
to see if love, I might find.
Like a princess with jewelled crown,
my dreams of starry nights shined.

Soft words of romance, he brings to life
with every stroke from his gifted pen.
Of sunlight, moon shadows, peace and strife,
I read his poems time and again.

His words bring smiles and move me to tears.
He inspires me to write of feelings, sincere.

Thanks For My Wonderful Wife

I remember the first time I
 and my wife first met.
The beauty in her... I'll never forget!

I won't forget the day
and the place.
I'll never forget the look
 on her face.

The feeling I had was
 hard to describe.
I knew she was going to be my bride!

I'm thankful to Jesus for
bringing us together.
Binding us as one...
Both now and forever!

Twenty years have passed...
 since our wedding day.
She's still my beautiful wife!
I'm proud to say!

Thanks be to God,
 for making us one.
I pray for his blessings upon
 our daughters and sons.

May God be the unifying
love in all that we do.
May we never forget the meaning of...
 "I love YOU!"

Each day I look at her...
what do I see?
This wonderful wife God
 has brought to me!

I'm thankful and honored
to have her as my wife.
She's been such a blessing...
A great part of my life!

Paragon Of Excellence

Here stands a fair beauty
Queen with poise and
Dignity.
The daughter of an
Erudite,an erudite herself
One of the three central
Spoke-persons in the
Assembly of law-givers.
The defender of the
Helpless,mother of the
Motherless. As fearless as
A lion,who dared the
Gunners in power,time
Had she spent in jail,
Thrown in by the most
Powerful.
One thought she would
Cower down,yet more
Resolute she became.
For stonewalls do not
Make a prison make.
She still the people's
Mouthpiece.
Champion of war on
Gender in-equality,a
Visionary leader,hope is
Rekindled-hearts rejoice,
Tears of joy pour freely as
She mounts the podium
Of power.

All I Need Is You

I don't need any money,
I don't need fancy shoes.
I don't need to buy happiness,
'Cause all I need is You.

I don't need expensive clothes,
I don't need things to choose.
I don't need five-star meals,
'Cause all I need is You.

I'm smiling here so wide;
I feel like I'm brand new.
Today is the start of something big
'Cause all I need is You.

My soul is eternally fulfilled;
My heart is being led through.
I don't need anything else,
'Cause all I need is You.

The Gracious Woman

The gracious woman is hated
She is not overrated but such a natural one
Morals and values dictated
Through her trials and tribulations her smiles stun
Family and friends created
Stay optimistic throughout the long run
The woman is so courageous
A strong heart is number one
She seems to be contagious
Her relationships are always undone
Her worthiness is outrageous
To find another is dreadful
To lose her is regretful
A woman of this caliber is so special

Here's to John and Carla

Here’s to John and Carla

Here’s the story of John Sherman
He was born there, in New Jersey
In the year of forty two
A wild, wild man was he
Con man, thief and activist
He was chased by the FBI
He was on their top ten list
One day they caught this guy.

They placed him, when they caught him
In a high security jail
They considered him to be
A very dangerous male
He escaped their prison, twice did he
When they caught up with him
They kept him jailed for eighteen years
And made his life so grim.

One day the Buddhists came to visit
And then this man was hooked
His manner changed he grew real calm
As at himself he looked
He delved down to his deepest depths
And experienced a thing
That gave him peace, and harmony
And made his whole world sing.

Just like everything in life
His peace it did not last
His mind went kind of crazy then
And his misery was vast
And so he turned to Ramana
A saint from India
As he asked the question ‘Am I here’?
Something within did stir.

His world became a heaven then
He’d learned the truth at last
He conquered all his fear of life
And the sweetness it was vast
When they let him out of Jail
He married his sweet wife
And he and Carla ran a site
To help folk through their strife.

They run a site called ‘Just one look’
Where they teach many folk
How to rid their lives of fear
And though he’s always broke
He and his wife do carry on
Trying to help folk, in their plight
As they too look within their depths
And find themselves that light

They have worked with many folk
And lot do claim success
As they ask the question ‘Am I here’
And many can attest
That they now live all free of fear
And as his work goes on
So many will agree with them
When all their fears are gone.

I speak from my own story
When I tell this thing to you
If you do suffer misery
Then here’s the thing to do
Get in touch with John, and Carla
And let them take you to
A space where fear does not exist
It works I’m telling you.

Prime Mover

Like the seraphs whose wings unfold,
Christ's light and glory goes not untold;
as the love of his humble grace
moves inside me all time and space,

as the planets orbit heaven's sun
and encircle it one by one--
so, too, am I caught in his sway,
beloved of him from day to day.

Through hosts of astral dimension
God's angels fix their attention
with expectancy and burning pause
amidst the universe's First Cause.

He, the one true Incarnation
that begets cosmic causation,
resolves the Infinite Regress
from the pre-Socratics' egress

with his omniscient wisdom
and the archives of his kingdom
where all can come and read and know
what miracles he'll yet bestow.

two woman one child

Once there were two women who lived different lives..
One I hardly around for me to remember, the other I call my mother.
Two different lives, shaped to make my one...
One was out of reach like a star, the other became bright sun.
The first gave me life and the second taught me how to live it.
The first gave me a need for love, and the second was always there to give it.
One gave me a nationality, the other gave me my nick name.
One gave me a seed of talent, the other gave me an aim.
One gave me emotions, the other calmed my fears.
One heard my first cry, the other dried all my tears.
One gave me up without a second thought...To selfish to care
The other prayed for my safety and God led me straight to her. I was her Mandy Bear
And now you ask me, As my peer
the age old question unanswered throughout the years...
Heredity or environment .. Which am I the product of..
Neither, my friend .. neither..
just two different kinds of people...That ended with only ONE LOVE

Reflections Of You

When walking a path that you wish to take
A memory of love that never was a mistake
Holding hands with the most of caring person
Gave a virtue of different emotions and lesson
Now you share and grow to care for another
And you have created a family with no other
It shows through generations that you have virtue
Of whom you shared your love and faith in is true
The image of both of you comes to make a new
A new creation of a reflection of you

I AM A WOMAN

I walk
I talk
I possess an image
That image
I am the woman

The woman who is
In absolute possession
Of the courage
As brave as a warriors staff
The woman who knows her rights
And fights for it
I am the woman
With the “man”

I feel
I heal
I possess a heart
That heart
I am the woman

The woman with
An inner child
With an overflowing joy
With no worries bigger
The woman whose gleeing spirit
Brings hope to all
I am the woman
With the “womb”

I make
I create
I possess an art
That art
I am the woman

The woman herself
Stringing together
All pieces of earth
And soothing the broken
The woman whose arms
Wraps those she loves
I am the woman
That woman…

My Journey on Poetrysoup

Number one or ten , is such a compliment
amongst all of this passion lies such talent
I thank-you through my heart and am humbled you read my thoughts
In this happy home of humility I find peace. In my journey in, a web of desire I am caught

I see myself broken as I try and become
a person that heals, can survive , one who can overcome

You can tell I have been through Life and all it offers
through tears I have cried , my soul will heal , beat stronger
sadness , love , happiness , fearless , all to be written , and edited often .
In words , in rhymes, through joyful design, I easily loose time

Thank you to all my fellow poets out there , you share the desire to put on paper .
You are on your way up in this journey, living life free to feel , honest colors lie true .
This way of writing , expressing your thoughts , can hold no despair .

I write and record the events as they have happened
Many years ago , I believe the art and poets gave us a vision of the past
in life , in pain , in journey , just write , write all the same , it is words that shall last

The American Soldier

We are all the colors a Patriot depicts,
the red’s the blues and whites a mix.
We honor the soldier’s creed till death,
protecting our nation with every breath.

Quitting is not an option you’ll see,
for a soldier’s pride and honor succeeds.
A soldier’s mission will always come first,
hungering for freedom with a thriving thirst.

The American Soldier, our warrior of choice,
will serve their people will a victorious voice.
They are comrades in arms, till the very end,
no one left behind, fellow man they’ll tend.

The American Soldier doesn’t accept defeat,
heroically they’ll fight, in the cold and the heat.
They are the guardians of freedom we forget,
the American Soldier does not identify regret.

Our way of life is because of their strength,
for decades they’ve served at every length.
The American Solder conveys honor and pride;
for fallen soldiers, many tears they have cried.

Honor our troops, for freedom is not free –
it’s the American Soldier whose provided liberty.
Take a moment to praise the dedication and pride,
of the American Soldier that never dies…….

For our Father, Nelson Madiba Mandela

For our Father, Nelson 'Madiba' Mandela

you are our eternal inspiration

our hopes
our dreams
our conscience

you gave everything of yourself
so that we may live and love and laugh and dream and breathe the air of freedom, dignity and liberty

you lead us through the darkest days with your unshakeable principles and your belief in us

you brought peace and freedom to us

and when at times we felt all was lost

you stayed with us as a father would

you lent us your wisdom
and you chastised us too

and we are here today because of you
you stayed with us, Nelson Rolihlala 'Madiba' Mandela, through all the crests and valleys of our turbulent times

you stayed with us, father
today, we hope and pray and wish
that you, our father Madiba
stay with us still
stay with us, Madiba
stay with us...

Christ Stepped Down From His Heavenly Throne

Christ Stepped Down From His Heavenly Throne! Christ stepped down, from his heavenly throne. He came to earth… For 33 years, he called it his home! His mission had one purpose and desire in mind! He was to one day, be a sacrifice for mankind! He taught and gave us his words, powerfully spoken! He knew that one day, his body would be broken! He desired that all, would one day, come to know him! Because of his resurrection, all can receive him! He’s alive today! And reigns from heaven above! And desires to touch us, with his endless love! Won’t you humbly come, and accept what he’s given? And experience the power, of being forgiven! This can be your moment! This can be YOUR day! He loves you much more, than words can say! All honor and praise, to Christ Jesus, our king! You are our righteousness! Our everything! By Jim Pemberton

Moon

Might I ask about what the moon means to you?
It means the world revolves in a transcending path with a satellite.
Why does the moon shine in the midnight sky?
It shines because it is a guide between the world of the dead and the living.

So does the moon fill the air with hope?
The moon itself is hope for people.
Why does the moon pull us in with such soul searching?
It is because we feel that the moon is part of our every day life.

Children who asks these questions; I have strive to tell them some truth,
And for the adults out there I created a little Moon lite poem to sooth.

So the moon is our light in the darkest hour of the night
With romance in the air that is so bright
We all hold hands once in a moonlit walk
And with such passion we would talk
The moon gives us our pull on each others heart
With a dinner that we take part
The ritual of wooing ones heart is a great feeling of love
The moon is always there to shine right above
In time we think we are blinded by the moon
But to tell you the truth it reflects the sun light during midnight noon
It gives out a warmth in the darkness
We probably do not think of it less
Because the moon is our memories of our past
It shows it everyday and night and always last

When I Die

Don't weep for the loss
I've merely swept across
Know that I am here
Always will I be near
In the way you walk
And the way you talk
Thru your words of strife
To guide you thru this life
In your beautiful stare
All the elements in the air
Running thru your veins
And whatever shall remain
Presenting thru your smile
And every lonesome mile
With every beat of your heart
You'll feel we're not apart
With every warming breeze
And the swaying of the trees
Thru your precious laughter
And every moment thereafter
In those mesmerizing eyes
Your mother is still alive
In each and every thought
Enacting what I've taught
Thru the precious moments
And every single torment
Thru every scent you intake
And each and every mistake
Your mother has not died
In your hearts where I reside

Sally version 2

Gracious Sally; my black haired Sally.
You've dawned a bright red cap.
My chicken balls; my coffee please.
A fortune before my nap.
You've tinged your bell; the coffees ready.
The customers turn their heads.
It's you I see; you waiting free!
with chicken balls in their breads.
And when at cash you call for me
and nod a tray you pass.
That after money and after thanks
your smile comes with a laugh.

The Great Poets

How does a poem have swelling emotion?
How can it reach to the depths of my being?
How can they take just a pitiful notion
Write it with care to a poem that's breathing?
How can mere words form a rhythm of beauty?
How do their tho'ts spark a fire of duty?
Here is the answer, the pen of a master
Gifted to shout or to quietly whisper.

Your Whisper

You whispered in my ear,
a breathy secret, hushed.

“I love you”, you murmured.

I said nothing,
lost, in your arms,
I found a home. At last.

“I love you”, you said,
I said nothing,
lost in my thoughts,
I found peace. At last.

“I love you”, you said,
words failed me then.

They still do.

2012 resolution Vol 4

jan2012
(Resolutions is a series of 6 poems . These are a tribute to Mr.Abhay Keni a technocrat, genius, philosopher and guide...above all a humble human being. All 6 volumes are a tribute to his simplicity and his way of life.)

This brand new year, A voice inside me keeps whispering without any fear, “You need to mend yourself now and here” So please listen to me your inner voice and to transgress the path ahead be aptly clear. Live such that the fear of death does not enter your heart, Do deeds such that dear ones and friends from you never do part. Live such that in the name of religion you hurt no one, Respects other’s and demand yours be respected by everyone. Live such as to love your life and perfect your life, And always make attempts to beautify as many things as possible in this life. Live such as to make your life long, In the service of humanity, and also to correct many wrongs. Live such so as to give a word or a salute when meeting a friend with grace, Or passing a stranger in a lonely place. Live such as to be able to respect everyone, And try to grovel at none. Live such as to arise at morn , To be able to give thanks for the joys of life, food ,health and for a human to be born. Live such so as to abuse no one ,as it turns a wise into a fool And robs the spirit of it’s vision and that really cruel. Live such that when the time comes to die, Don’t be like the people with hearts of fear and cry But the one who will sing their own death songs, And in them will give a message to all as to how in their life their joys prolong.

and hope to never disgrace
I do what I am taught to do
and that my help would be true
I clam my words together
and hope times will never weather
I do have some faith in all matters
and things to reach with ladders
I hope for many things in heart
and I cherish everyone that is part
I do know one thing is set
and with my life I would bet
I will hold true to my words
and make my world good towards

A Perfect Painting

If one is compelled to stay longer,
If one’s senses are assailed,
If one is driven to suppose its motivation,
If one is urged to seek detail,

If the palette makes its statements,
If each stroke helps one define,
If the subject can be seen anew,
If one seeks to know the artist’s mind,

If one sees therein a beauty,
If one somehow identifies,
If one feels their heart is touched,
If one is thankful for their eyes,

If one is moved to remember,
If one can see it in one’s mind,
If one is pushed to revisit,
If one seeks out more in kind,

If the painting is acclaimed or
If it's “art” to only one;
Then it’s a perfect painting,
And its work is done.

That's Where The Lord Lives

I walk outside to see all that I can see.
Over there is our house, our home,
In the distance, you can see.
And that place of hallowed happiness
Forever has been our home
And forever will be so evermore.
That house is small but raised us tall,
From the perfect parents who loved us so
To the perfect sister for which every man would want.
The house built us all up strong.
More than a mere building,
It is a place to love and be loved,
A place that hands you hope that you give right back,
And a place of everlasting faith.
This home is where my parents taught me about God
And opened me up to Jesus.
They opened the eyes of the blind for all to see,
And the blind included me.
They taught me to be the best I can be;
The best things in life are free.
They have taught us so well,
And they all have saved my soul.
Even if I am not there now,
I carry Him with me.
I carry them with me.
I carry Their values and Their teachings with me.
In this house, this home,
We reside.
We cannot forget this.
This is where my Mother lives.
This is where my Father lives.
This is where my Sister lives.
This is where We live,
In this loving, caring, beautiful home
They made just for us.
We cannot forget this either.
This is where it all began.
This is where the hunger and thirst was created;
This is where we are fulfilled.
We cannot, we must not forget this:
This is where God lives.
This is where Jesus lives.
This is where The Lord lives;
The Father and The Almighty.
This is where We live;
This is where We reside.
We must not forget this.
We must not forget this:
What a beautiful and perfect life this is.

A Paean to God

That the brilliance of your majestic ways
and fire that burns from your white-hot eyes
may give their light to space of infinite size
and shine on all Earth's creatures' love and praise;
that the mercy you give to him that prays
for pious ways to keep his lips from lies,
for faith and grace to remain pure and wise
may give heaven renewed glory and raise;
that the millennial Kingdom's earthly time
arrives after end times' brief, labor pangs
and saves God's children from sin's filthy grime,
so they that were tempted by Satan's gangs
will live on in glory and in their prime
once Christ removes the Serpent's deadly fangs!

someone cares

Someone cares if I'm happy today
If my day is cheerful and bright?
Someone somewhere cares if I'm feeling ok
If everything going just right.

Someone somewhere cares if I eat
If there is food in my fridge and plates full at my table.
Someone somewhere cares if I have clothes on my back and shoes on my feet
They keep my mental state stable.

Here I sit wondering if someone still thinks about me.
Pondering if that someone is still out there.
Is this how life is always going to be
And if that someone still remembers, I care about them too if they care about me.

My Grandma Smith Lives On In Me

So I’ve been told by a few that I remind them of
You my Dear Grandma Smith.
It was something I could not see clear but others
Saw the likeness of you in me my Dear Grandma.

I take that as a complement as you were a fine lady that
I admired and so fond of you, it is an honour to
Be told I am like and resemble you Grandma.

I have your blue eyes, and part of your caring
Nature and your little ways, I hope I reflect
Them well bringing your name praise I
Will always cherish the days we spent together
Making the memories last forever in
My heart since the day that we did
Depart,
when we lost you that cold December
Day is when my heart broke away
And tore apart.

I am glad that you were a part of my life for those
eleven wonderful years
I learnt a lot from you my Dear Grandma
and will carry that with me through
All my life and will remember you always and forever
Now I can see that you have always
been apart of Me.

A dedication to the champions of life

This is a dedication to the ferocious mentalities
Of survivors of atrocious tragedies
The ones who grow stronger amidst unfocused realities
They apparently last longer beyond unchosen casualties

This is a dedication to the striving perfectionist
Proven meticulous like a practicing pianist
Never negligent like a lioness a protectionist
Of relevant ideas and thesis's a progressionist

This is a dedication to the pure hearts of gold
The compassionate reactions without being told
The negative distractions that never unfold
The positive attraction like lovers hands to hold

This is a dedication to the champions of life
Their fires they burn without fuel in the night
I seek to acquire these exclusive rights
I'll never retire for this I will fight

(for the countless South Africans, of all colours, who dedicated their lives for freedom and democracy)

the valiant ones
countless
many known
many more nameless

the truest sons and singers
husbands and poets
lovers and wives
daughters and farmers
workers and sisters
brothers and friends

they left so abruptly
with quiet pride
steely courage
gentle dignity

they left so abruptly
leaving us our tomorrows
brighter
hopeful
filled with promise

they left so abruptly
so that we may breathe
the breath of liberty
the air of freedom
the warmth of justice

they left so abruptly
leaving with us their parting gift

freedom
inkululeko
swatantrata
liberte
azadi
vhudilangi
libertad

they left so abruptly
yet we remember them all
today
in the days that slipped away
and in the many more that we await

they left so abruptly
yet they remain
hewed into our memories
etched in our consciences
engraved in our hearts
they left so abruptly
and yet they endure
with us
within us
now and forever more

BARRETT AND BROWNING Runaway Lovers

RUNAWAY LOVERS

Sat Ba Barret restless in her room
Drinking death in dark and gloom
Tragedy seemed her last name
Despite the books that were her fame
Letters reached her by the score
But one kissed paper touched her core
Robert Browning made her wild
Exuberance flared—she was a child
A woman forty –heart on fire
Now she had but one desire
A partner for her life she sought
Her father raged—her brothers fought
And so she, in the dead of night
Began a journey—love’s mad flight
They wed with maid and cousin there
And off they sailed like on a dare
Tossed her frail and lifelong curse
Dared the gods to do their worst
She won the man and mated prize
Found her reflection in his eyes
First night was a burst of tears
Maid was sent to soothe her fears
Downstairs help was all a twitter
Certain Ba was dry and bitter
Old maid and a cripple lass
With intellect none could surpass
Now she’s wed and this first night
What would happen—tup or fight?
Footmen bet on Browning luck—
Old maids were like sitting ducks
But when they saw dawn faces glow
Even shallow hearts did throw
A prayer that heaven smile on them
Such naked love sang out ‘Amen’.

This Is My Home

Sage grows wildly Covering the mountain view Mustangs grazing mildly on the early morning dew In the early AM The wild horses mosey and roam Light reflecting off them A single tree and stone become a dome This majestic place is my home

Humble for my own sake

I do not turn the other cheek,
so you can boast in my defeat,
I do not love my enemies
with but a smile, but earnestly,
I humble my once proud heart
in hopes to reach maturity.
Ive had my share of battles fought,
and scars to show for lesson taught
still no reason conceit
will ever I pursue or seek.

I do bless when others curse
to show my weakness with remorse
but I becomes a broken horse.
Following my master's righteous course.
I find no joy in any pain
but I pursue knowledge to gain
an ever steadfast path in life
not dictated by my strife,
so I do none of these for you
but for my certain peace of mind
that when I'm struck down by another
my heart still knows how to be kind.

Chris

Chris's beliefs, were his own It's true he worshiped Worshiped well. But no one God, No one idol. With a hand cupped over a ear He preached to his disciples, Conveyed his love of words. He passed on his knowledge, In the only way he could. His faith was in people And their ability to write. Heaven's book was opened As followers saw the light. I, like my teacher, Am a man of little religious faith Skeptical about the after-life. So why are my feelings strange Each time I write? Like a hand guiding mine over pages, Images each time I read. I see a smiling face, Hear a Challis joke. Encouraged by words that are kind. I am haunted by memories. This I don't mind. Like the lion who is king of the jungle, Chris Challis was one of a kind.
Dedicated to a tutor at a night writing school. He died in around 1997 after a fall at home aged 50. Written shortly after his death. I have just added one line in the first part and one word in the second.

Still In Love With My Wife

Still In Love With My Wife...

My son came to me with
a question on his mind.
I said; “Not now son—
I just don't have the time.”
He said, “Daddy—are you still
in love with Mommy?”
“Do you love her like you did when
I was in her tummy?”

My eyes choked with tears;
“Yes son I really do!”
“I'm in love with her...
and I appreciate you.”
“Daddy—will you always love
me like you do mom?”
“Yes my son—my love for you
will always belong.”

I looked down and much to my surprise.
There were tears running
down my son's eyes.
He came running to me with arms wide open.
“Thank you daddy” were his words spoken.
I picked him up and gave
him a great big hug.
As I let him down, on my shirt I felt a tug.

His little arm reached up to grab my hand.
I knew that what I said,
he began to understand.
I love his mom so much—my wonderful wife.
She's been such a blessing-
a great part of my life!

I'll be her junkie if she'll be my drug
If she wanna play bonnie I'll be her thug
Put them together got some gangster love

Nightly turning headboards to sawdust
She safe with me like daddy warbucks
So beautiful cant help but be awestruck
This must be a web cause we both stuck

Like a flawless diamond she exquisite
Her body I visit then mentally revisit
Just felt gods gift the touch of her lips
Like a sinking ship she overwhelms this

Every new nights just like the beginning
Im way past content Im gone off her scent

A Rich Tribute

Mother Teresa been a historical,
and an important,
and a humble figure,
as she had dedicated her life for the poor and the needy indeed,
the best tribute one can give her is by quoting a single quote of her,
out of the many though,
the one mentioned below seems to be more precise,
in today’s world,
“Let us more and more insist on raising funds of love, of kindness, of understanding, of peace. Money will come if we seek first the Kingdom of God-the rest will be given”
Today,
in the rush of acquiring money,
many have forgotten this lovely aspect,
the aspect of love,
which is much greater than money,
and had crossed a number of boundaries,
from times immemorial,
today jealousy, selfishness, greed have taken over love,
wherein money is not that great,
than love itself,
as love is like a ‘Can’,
which can be filled from the top to the bottom,
unlike money,
which needs to be filled from the bottom instead,
love is greater than money indeed,
as we do love our Gods,
our wives,
the children,
whether they be ours,
or of others,
without distinguishing between their caste, creed, colour,
Love is indeed greater,
as we love the newborns born into this world,
our friends ,
wherein love can also help us to defeat our enemies too,
without love,
no one can progress on,
and neither the countries too,
Therefore love is greater than money indeed!!

“Let us more and more insist on raising funds of love, of kindness, of understanding, of peace. Money will come if we seek first the Kingdom of God-the rest will be given”- Author: 'Mother Teresa'

Through The Trials And Valleys

Through The Trials And Valleys…

I’ve been through trials and difficult situations.
Many times it happens with no explanations!

Whatever I’ve had or have taken with me.
I’ve been there when everyone has left me!

The uncertainties I’ve had and struggles I face.
Have brought me to my knees in a “quiet” place.

The journeys I’ve traveled and the storms ahead.
Have brought worry and stress in the words I said.

Whatever trials I’ve faced... To Jesus I cried!
A comfort and strength . He did provide!

I know a truth that is important and most certain.
Jesus can take away any hardship or burden!

If there were no trials... How could I trust him?
Because of what he’s done How I love him!

If I had no hardships or trials, I’d probably “forget him.”
Giving him my whole life? I don’t think I’d let him!

But he’s proven to me just how much he loves me!
He reached down from heaven and touched me!

He’s my comfort and joy and enduring friend!
He’ll be there with me… Till the very end!

This Jesus I know. I recommend him to you!
He is God! Our provider! This is so true!

Won’t you give him a chance in your life today!
He can bring hope and take
all of the dark clouds away!

Have you ever known someone so brave

Have you ever known someone so brave?
That for you and me they risk their lives
Knowing they could end up in the grave
Because they are fighting for our Country
With a willing heart to save
And please never forget all the other sacrifices they have gave

And please remember when you see our flags colors
The red, white, and blue
That we were given this chance for freedom
Because of what our military men and woman
Risking their lives for me and you
So please when you have the chance
Tell them Thank you, Thank you,
For all you do

Oh- have you ever known someone
That you look up to that is a hero in your eyes
Some one better than any comic book superman
For me that will always be my military man
He has shown me what it means to be brave
And just give all you can give even
When knowing there is a chance
that you can end up in the grave
Because you’re willing to save
Oh- These men and woman who fight
For our country are just so brave
With a heart of gold they have gave
So please when you have the chance
Tell them Thank you, Thank you,
For all you do

MLK...
(January 15, 1929 – April 4, 1968)

they shot you down
all those years ago

but

your dream lives on
and always will

for though much has been
gained since you dreamed
your dream

there is much to fight for
and much more to struggle for

and much, much more
to fight for still

so
your dream resounds in
our hearts and we pledge
this to you today
for though they shot you down
all those years ago on a memphis day
we shall overcome
this we do believe
deep in our hearts
that
we shall overcome
someday...

This Thanksgiving Day

During this time known as Thanksgiving Day. I hope you'll give thanks and pray. A prayer of thanks for everything God has given. He has blessed us in the way we've been livin'! Our country is blessed like no other. God has supplied our "bread and butter." He's given us the freedom, we've all enjoyed. Be thankful for your food, home and being employed. For those who've endured hardship... Thank God too! It's no secret how much he loves YOU! We find in the Bible... God clearly said; "I've never seen the righteous forsaken, Nor their children begging for bread." Thanks be to Jesus, for his love, mercy and grace. And for making my heart, "his special place." I am blessed and thankful to Jesus indeed. He's given me salvation and supplies my every need. I thank God for this special day in November. Thanksgiving is a day... I will always remember! dreams into reality

I had a dream of you again tonight...that makes it about 3years strong....i wonder what the real thing will feel like...to hold you...to see you smile for the first time...the first time you cry...as i put my finger in your hand and you squeeze i wonder what joy will course through my veins...to say your name...to watch you sleep...to watch you as you try to figure out the world...will i miss your first words...or when you crawl...the first time you try to walk will i be there to catch you when you fall...your first birthday...will i be the dad you need me to be....will i fail...all these questions and the worst one i havnt even said....i hate to think it but it has came into my mind every once in a while...what if i never get to meet you...never have the chance to fail or succeed...to never watch you grow..to never have a chance to love you..to never be a father...what if my dreams never become reality....

The Dance

The Dance

My mother died some time ago
And God took her away,
To begin her dance with Jesus
That continues to this day

She wasn’t her old self that day,
Her memories had flown
He invited mom’s new self to dance,
And the Father took her home

Mom never was a dancer
That I ever heard her claim,
But the steps she does with Jesus
Would put Fred Astaire to shame

Perfect mind in perfect love,
With perfect memory,
As she whirls and twirls with The Lord of the Dance,
And waits with Him for me

My Brother’s up there with her,
I’m sure he cheers her on,
And does a jig or two himself
When Heaven plays the song

My other brother’s with me still,
And our sweet sister too,
The three of us with our dear dad,
Believe all this is true

Mom is up there dancing,
All over Canaan Land,
Perfect in the arms of Jesus,
As He strikes up the band

Hamba Kahle, Comandante Chavez

Hamba Kahle*, Comandante Chavez!

The light may have gone out from your eyes, Comandante,
but the torch you lit,
remains ablaze.

You may have passed away from this mortal life, Comandante,
but you have passed on,
your immortal ideals.

Today our hearts are heavy with sorrow, Comandante,
yet you left our hearts so much heavier,
with hopes of a more just tomorrow.

The light may have gone out from your eyes, Comandante,

but you live!

You live!

Hasta la Victoria Siempre,

Comandante!

Our Love Is Enough

We don't need to go out and party,
We don't need to drink,
We don't need to socialize,
We don't need to go shopping,
We don't need to spend money,
We don't need to go to a movie,
We don't need to watch sporting events,
We don't need to go out to eat,
Because we found love,
And our love is enough.

All To Jesus I Surrender

All To Jesus I Surrender…

All to Jesus, I give and totally surrender!
May my heart be broken and tender!

All to Jesus, I come and freely give!
I ask him to be my Lord every day I live!

All to Jesus, I will humbly share…
His love and joy to people everywhere!

It’s Jesus, who is made perfect in my weakness!!
He has given to me his love and sweetness!

It’s in Jesus, I have found pure delight.
His spirit comforts me each day and night!

It’s in Jesus, there is hope and peace within!
He has come and broken the bondage of sin!

My dear Jesus, I kneel and humbly bow!
I need you my Lord! I need you now!

Only in Jesus, can I hope to obtain.
Everything I need. It’s all in HIS name!

Only in Jesus, will I find a shelter from all harm.
I want to be wrapped up in his strong arms!

Only in Jesus, have I found what I needed.
With him in my life….
 I am now completed!

Street Soldier

My baseball cap is my helmet and my Nike's are my boots,
My country is my hood and my colors on my flag are niether red white or blue,
My weapon of choice is my two hands,
sometimes it can be whatever when I am threatened with a great fall from my stand,
I have no general or soldiers but I have family and above all I got heart.
My battlegrounds remain in my own home and sometimes even in the local Wal-Mart.
Every inch of my hood is up for friendly fire,
Violence remains apart of life around here searching for peace is far from desire,
Everyday remains but another day someone will die,
but more importantly is that another mother, brother, sister or father will cry.
But I am a street soldier so I am prepared for anothers or worse yet my own demise,
And as a street soldier I must keep the battle in check, no not with what I see with my two eyes, but what war is really going on inside the mind,
My battles dont come from without but from within......I am a street soldier fighting through time.....

She

A sweetly-scented, earthy rain-storm,
she came to me,

thunderously raging with raw emotion,
she came to me,

drenched in the essence of truth,
she came to me,

she touched a chord deep inside,
she strummed away all emptiness,

she came to me,

once...

she comes to me,

still...

a gentle presence filling my life,

she comes to me,

still,

a healing spirit soothing all inner strife.

Lewis Leary's shawl

Lewis crept into Harper's Ferry
at cool dawn's light in '59
with angry John Brown,
pursed keen and unkempt
to bleed over his shawl,
then died for his wife

Mary, grew old and gray
and left that stained shawl
for grandson Langston Hughes,
to inspire him someday

Langston took Grandma's shawl
and took oppression to his heart
to rise up in other words,
"where people suffered
in beautiful language"*

Baby Girl

I write this for my sweet Baby Girl,
Who means more to me now then anything in this world .
How she can make me smile and laugh out loud,
Never has a woman ever made me feel so prideful & proud.
These dreams I have of her each and all of my nights.
Awakens me every single day feeling so good and right .
For so many years I have waited for this day ,
Finally a woman that makes me feel this way.
So filled with so much joy as my heart constantly glows,
And those who see me will never doubt this I know.
This beautiful and most wonderful Sweet Baby Girl,
Is all I will ever want or need in this whole world.

Spring Forth Thine Glory

Why have you forsaken us?

O season of bloom, what manner of transformation do you seek?

Your concealing actions, in these cloud swept skies, speaks to deception my Lord.

As your humble servant, I beg of you, to please return to your former constitution.

Which bringeth not only I, but the beasts of burden and all the buzzing creatures, plus the wondrous, soaring birds, swooping in like rabble-rousers to a long lost love!

 Happiness!

Hear our cries, O season of hope, and bring forth your glory, your Manifest Destiny, to bring life and sustenance, to us all.

The Sea Blue Eyes I

Once in a while I meet a person whose eyes tell their story
The story is like the sky reflection on the seas of glory
The eyes are all the wonder of the world
It sees the future, past, and present
The eyes give us knowledge of the world and reflection
The reflection of sadness and weakness of each creature
The wonder of each individual being has a present
To the world who has lots of false images
To arise the moment of that one glance
To follow the heart in romance
Just the reflection that gather in your eyes of blue
What a man and a woman should view
Life is such a pain without stopping to see each eyes
Its like roses you have to enjoy each passion in side
When that moment collides with mind and heart
Nothing in your soul can keep your love apart
Join in the fun look in every eyes of a person beside
With passion and romance I bet you, you would cry
The luster of all the things to come
A bounty of life long needs to be given by just the wonders of the eyes
The blue seas reflects the different depths of our feelings
And it should become revealing
Come to your senses with ravaging hormones of lust
The sea can take you and even the reflection in the eyes of the person
The beauty is not held by one it is held by everyone
Such looks with fear for no relief
Is almost a dreadful part in our human nature
Beware of what can happen when emotions are held
Held to the core of an individual
No such thing is kindness when you find yourself in the Sea Blue Eyes
Calling in your soul by just looking
With ignorance you play around with such futile emotion
Gush away the fear and do not go insane with life so dear
The grasp of the titans comes to reveal
The evil within your heart is so obscenely noticed
You want the sea and you want those eyes to look at you with wishes
The rage in the heart are waves that cannot stop
It pushes and pushes with no regret
The heart falters and there is only one thing in your mind
The idea of one soul to be with is the ocean
The rifts that is trying to break to end the wants of desire
Cannot be trusted in a human lier
The beauty of man is destruction
The beauty of women are commands
The eyes of each does not matter in the sea
Because all emotion and desire is given to those who are true
Command of a person is just one thing
The desire to destroy is another
The Sea Blue Eyes will see no bother cause it bares it all
Even the utmost desire
To be continue.

For Madiba

For Madiba

as you continue the struggle some more, today for life...

'it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die' you said, all those years ago

as you stood in the dock awaiting the sentence of death

they locked you up instead

for 27 hard and long and arduous years

you stood firm
you never wavered
you gave hope to us all

and then when they could no longer keep up their unjust tyranny

you emerged into the light of freedom

your hand raised in a defiant fist in the february Cape Town air

- Amandla!

you then weaved and bobbed and fought some more, the boxer in you always present

you fought for peace in our land

for us all you fought

and then came that glorious day

when you were our president

and we laughed and we cried

and you fought for us even more

today you fight a different fight

for life, and we are helpless

we, who you fought for all along

have only hope and prayer and song and wishes of life for you

today, you fight some more

may you fight for life some more, Tata Madiba!

and may you prevail

for you are our father

and father, your children call out to you once more

with wishes
prayers
songs

your children wish for you, to remain here with us some more

and though helpless your children may be

in this battle that you wage for life today

and though frail and old your body is

your indomitable spirit smiles that inimitable Madiba smile

your spirit resides in each of us

your loving children

amandla!

Matriarch

Strong & Stead Fast
Never looking to the past
One hundred years you have stayed
One hundred years, you have led the way

Always had good things to say
Criticizing others has never been your way

The one i look up to for your strength & Light
Always feeling loved
No matter how many of us there were in sight

Always beautiful inside & out
Like a rose opening for the first time in the sun
It is here you have shone & won

When others leave their shadow behind
You shall leave your light

Not a day will you be out of sight
Nor ever out of mind
You'll always be the first true friend of mine

I will not cry when the time comes simply because you are gone
But because you have lived

Your legacy is here to stay
A bright light that will never fade

Growing old is so weary
Cold
For each one of us will eventually have to go
It is my faith that helps me to know
that we'll all be together again in the after glow

As time slowly closes in
I'll be alright
Your never out of sight
For now, you are, my guiding light

Loudest Words Spoken

There was once I knew an eccentric woman,
Though some may have called her strange,
Her actions were the loudest words spoken,
Each person she met experienced a change.

For some it may have been passing,
For others a lifelong trek.
For help she never was asking
On others she’d rather check.

Her love for her family and friends
Was more than words can express
To each event she was bound to attend
And she always had the best dress.

Though she is in heaven, smiling from above,
I’ll always remember that eccentric woman
Who taught me that family was a labor of love
And that actions were the loudest words spoken.

NOTORIOUS-BONNIE AND CLYDE

From beneath the dust bowl storm, from when st they came,
Blazing a trail across the pages of historical fame.
Accelerations desperadoes, with guns drawn, wild hearts
Beating as thunder, they are the restless and free,
Bandits of the youthful passion called rebellion.
Living and thriving by the bullets firing, escaping in
The blood's adrenalin rush, burning rubber down,
The highway of tragedy.
The untouchables, burnt a cinder by desires flame,
Fallen stars of legends notorious, lit comets crashing,
To the earth below, dieing in a hail of gun fire.
A faded poster, hangs on a rusty nail, along side
A dusty deserted road, in bold prints lettering,
It is so written, wanted the Barrow Gang, reward
Offered dead or alive, for Bonnie Parker and
 Clyde Barrow.
Slammed down the trigger, against the bullet's
Hardened edge of conflict, the lawless have
Drawn first blood, but the silver shields power,
Have they angered, and revenge is a cold slippery
Surface to exist upon, shall their souls not fry,
 Beneath the summers sizzling sun.
Cry does not Juliet, to her Romeo, as the gray
Smoke clears, Bonnie's last words softly
Spoken, his name, Clyde, Clyde, than silence.
Two doves soar towards heaven, blinded
By the light beyond, spiritual castaways, bond
Eternally to one another, lost in the dream illusion,
Of their love.
The lone highwayman, the grim ripper,
Cradles the youthful broken frames,
Of the lovers, cut apart by fame's delusions.
Lain in a hole, in the cold hard ground.
A tear did even he, the angel of death,
Wipe away, and placed a single red rose,
On Bonnie's grave.
Do not weep on their behalf, for in God's
Kingdom, they'll know a freedom, they've
Never known.

know and learn something ever

My mind travels upon air
wavers and drenches itself
wandering and wavering ever

hits something, to know something
attract and distract something
travelling in a water ever.

A Purpose

You are my ray of sunshine through those days of Gloom,
A glimsp of your smile hoping to be with you very soon.
I keep your heart with mine safe and protected I gaurd it all the time,
If you'll keep my heart with you safe and protected We will be just fine.
With my prayers I watch over you keeping you from any hurt or sarrows,
Making sure your world is what you wanted today and all of your tommorrows..
It is in the joy I bring you that that makes me whole and with a purpose in life,
Knowing in my heart that god has chose you my Darling Angel to be my loving wife.
My Dreams are so beautiful because you are in my heart and soul ,
Life with out you would not be something I would never want to know.

For Robert Zimmerman

For Bob Dylan

sheltered from the howling winds of vows and scattered souls and sweltering hate

she is a refuge from the blistering sands of dread and loss and torn and twisted fate

when the emptiness inside becomes an abyss so dark and wild and cold

my words get lost in the jangling alleys where dreams are bought and sold

I met her in those alleys among the withering roses on a bed of thorns

and she filled me up with poems banishing the scowling moments and their baleful scorns

now I lie awake and wish that I could sleep and drift away into the maze of her dream

but slumber has fled and slipped the noose around my words as they thrash around and scream

words that swirl around and around like that scarlet scarf wrapped around her face

she's a mystery still as she will always be while I sift through this empty desolate space

the storm it broke and ceased and shuffled my words as they drifted forlornly into the chasm of the dead

leaving me here still and mute and frantic as I try to pick up the pieces of all the words that have been said

far too many far too often far too conceited and far too proud

for I failed to hear the stillness of beauty as I rambled along barking my words out aloud

she hushes me now as she hushed me then in the cobwebbed tunnels of the past

while I weep more words in blood and ink onto dried parchment meant never to last

so tell her that her whiskey has been greedily gulped down and now that I am soberly drunk

I see her songs and hear her breath reaching down into my mouldy abode of hapless funk

fare-thee-well for now as I slide into the scribbled hubris of another battered rhyme

dazed by the glaring embers as they scorch the moments of quickly fading time

and if tomorrow finds me here still shell-shocked and drained in body and in mind

tell her that her wine has slipped through the loose knots that bind

tying me to this place of sanity and insanity all rolled into one

while all is numb and scarred from the deed that has been done

and as I flee recklessly chasing away myself from me once more
she'll know the words for its a song that's been sung far too many times before

(for bob dylan)

Christ Voice Made The Difference

Christ’ Voice Made A Difference! Christ’ voice made a difference in my life today! He spoke peace and love! And took my sins away! His voice made the difference, when nothing else could. All of my problems and failures, he understood! His voice made the difference, with words of healing and hope! He picked me up, when my life was on a “slippery slope!” His voice made the difference, in my moment of desperation! It brought peace to my heart and sweet inspiration! His voice made the difference when everything else failed me! I listen to his voice! it brings love all around me! His voice can make the difference for you! Won’t you listen? You’ll never know “what in the world,” you’re missin! His voice speaks peace to all fears! And life’s raging storms! His love will “glue together,” a life that’s “wrecked and torn.” His voice is all you need! It brings assurance His gift of eternal life is 100% “life insurance!” His voice beckons... Our lord calls our name! I’m glad I listened! I’m very glad he came! His voice is what’s important! And very much needed! It’s only through Christ, that our life is completed! By Jim Pemberton

THE FOURTH OF JULY-NEW

God bless the U.S.A., it's independence day,
Let the bells of liberation ring out,
Across this great nation's vast continental
Divide.
Lady Liberty, stoke up your flame of brilliance,
Light up our shores of freedom,
Allow it's message to spread global, we are
The United States of America holding strong in
Our resolve to remain united, against all obstacles
Placed before us.
Houst up the grand old flag, let it's bands
Strips never bleed, or stars lose their
Lustrous shine.
For one nation under God, does it so lay in trust,
Protected by faith and justice for all.
Oh so does the soldier bare his rifle proudly,
Willing to fight for the rights of his country.
We as a nation salute thy sacrifice,
For the brave, the fallen, past and present,
Whom have given so much on our
Behalf with prides enduring spirit.

God bless the U.S.A., it's independence day,
Let the bells of liberation ring out, across
This great nation's vast continental divide.
It's the fourth of july celebration, let us light
Up the nights sky on high, bursting forth with
A big kabooms color array, in a patriotic
Tribute, to our great nation known as America.
In a fireworks display to be seen internationally.
We are valors children, born with bravery's
Blood coursing through our veins, and the winds
Of freedom, blowing within us all, the American
Eagle's spirit does flow within us, and so we soar
On the breath of distinction.

In the distance hear the bugler's trumpet
Sounding, feel the drummers beat pounding,
Above a banners standard flying in the breeze,
This is our heritage legacy calling, to live free,
After all we are the people known as the Americans.
God bless the U.S.A., It's independence day,
Let the bells of liberation ring out across
This great nation's continental divide.

blood, sweat, and tears
nailed to a cross
crown full of thorns
your life was lost
for me, a worthless sinner
for me
a new beginning
I leave the past where it remains
I've been transformed
I've been restored
condemned no more
I wear the chains no more
I am free

Collaborating in the clouds- Gods Hold

If Gods favorite hero suddenly became cold,
Lonely, disoriented, unhappy with sorrows untold,
Would it be of interest in Heaven? Concerns of man,
Would our saviors come to Earth to be born again?

God would send out his best hands to hold,
Would he set backwards time to where all heroes spirits were sold.

If only our love could behold
Lined with twine of silver wrapped in gold
Gifts to to God to wash our sin
   Equipped pillars stories told

Thoughts about God mirrors my pen

Those Blue Hills Sing

Those Blue Hills Sing

Those blue hills seem to gaze back at me
covered in bright forests filled with glee
Early morn the fog wraps their beauty so
still their majesty sings don't you know

Winter snow they look like ice cream cones
singing their music in sweet rhyming tones
Come December we look for a perfect tree
on our season's jolly , merry holiday spree

Without fail hills so blue give a very fine gift
From amidst their beauty and deep snow drift.

A Sinner I am Not

Closing my eyes
Feeling the moment
Listening
No thoughts distracting me
Surrendering
Setting my heart free
Reviewing, learning, growing
Releasing the blame and guilt, I harbour
Releasing the things, I once thought I could change
Recognising good or bad
Right or wrong
A sinner I am not!
My mistakes, my greatest blessings
Living my life
Being human

For Dr Martin Luther King Jr

For Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

You had a dream
of pastures of peace
where children of all hues mingled like rainbows

they silenced you, but your voice
resounds now in those pastures
not yet of peace

and your dream is still a dream
the dream you dreamt while others slept

you said that you’d been to the mountain-top
and they silenced your voice just then
before your eyes saw that promised land
of pastures of peace where children of all hues mingle like rainbows

now your vision is glimpsed in some pastures
not yet of peace
and yes, they silenced your voice
but your spirit their bullets could never tear apart
your spirit, like your dream
is mingled with the wind in all those pastures
not yet of peace
and until we give life to your dream
those pasture of peace
where children of all hues mingle like rainbows
shall remain simply your dream
so as we remember you today
and pledge that those pastures of peace
are nourished first in each of us
for only then will your dream will take root
and blossom into our shared dream
and the view from the mountain-top,
radiant and bright and full of hope shall seem

where children of all hues mingle like rainbows

unbounded

for Malala Yousafzai

A mere demigod won't do
to feel the fear that
a young woman, a little girl
can put into a righteous man

Horrific are the thinly educated
some holy book might have related
if thought of by the deity beforehand
blessed be children, who can't understand

Our darkness, it is a fearsome place
but we must stay - our people, our race
enlightenment is but for the chosen few
but damn the rest and put them through

pain and suffering of relentless disdain
that reign supreme in divinity's domain
the best offense is to be offended
then violence reigns all ways, never ended

Does sharia demand the murder of daughters?
might not an education have gone further?
influencing to follow leadership that bought her
a meaningful way of life by a faithful observer

Terrorism comes in many forms - always has
and the sword of fear drones too from skies
whether strangers or family, makes no matter
when defending murder of innocents in the guise

of knowing the will of life for another
saying a child must die to prove righteous point
and how they bring purpose and meaning to
a terrorized life, with innocent blood anointing

Would god demand that Abraham carry through
killing his innocent son to prove his fear of God
is god so insecure in the top most place that
murder is the mandate for the true believer

Murder begets little I think, in a universal nature
but the continuation of the circled violence
mere words don't justify spiritual killing in any nomenclature
to bring us to some pursuit of spiritual deliverance

Mesmerized

Mesmerized

In the mirror image of yourself as far and near do I take
myself clear as I have a tear for you.

Reach out toward the moon lit stars while I repair the stars
afar, Reach the top stair as I am here, When I awake I will do
a double take for heavens sake.

I will hear the sweetest sound playing in the court yard of
your heart, As I stand here with the curves of a woman
But only the melody of a sweet sounding guitar.

Not a care in this world, I choose to share my words of wisdom
within this mirror, I am aware as Im walking on air, Can you see
How I am Mesmerized through the sound in the air
                        holding my woman of curves.

Good News From The Earth To You

Good News From The Earth To You
(In The Company Of Men – The Chile Mine disaster)

In Chile women pray as they peer deep into the captive earth
For hell to cough up their loved ones

Men linger there with souls intact as the company of men

Time itself
Punisher of minutes
Existence… stasis… sanity… obey no one
They languish there with them for months

Rescuers forge for something more precious than the gold
Dignity is down there in the distant hole holding on

Keep the sacred trust held by heat and dirt

In Chile women pray to be in the company of men again
As the digging begins

Men come up, one by one, on miracle life lines spun by other men
They come back to life from certain death to claim the light of day

His Gift of Love

I have a very special gift.
One you may long to see.
From the Christ who died so long ago
for the souls of you and me.

He didn’t have to do it.
No wonder that we cried,
To know ‘twas for our sins
Dear Jesus that day died.

As he dragged His cross up to that hill,
knowing all the while
the price he’d pay was for our bill
He somehow trudged that mile.

A crown of thorns upon His head;
nails driven in His hands and feet.
All the wounds oh, how they bled.
What torture He should meet.

Hanging there upon that tree
while we looked on in shame.
Dying there to set us free
He never placed the blame.

Knowing it was He alone
who could save us from our fates,
He looked upward to the throne
far beyond Heaven’s pearly gates.

For our mercy He was pleading.
The pain was oh so grand.
For us He hung their bleeding.
Reaching for His Father’s hand.

The Heaven’s began to thunder
as the sky went black.
There we watched in wonder
as the Father turned His back.

Upon His Son he could not look
as our sins to Him were cast.
Each was stricken from the Book
our debts were paid at last.

Had not He come upon that day
and died to set us free;
what a price we would pay
for all eternity.

The gift that He has given,
meant for each of us to share,
is a home up in Heaven.
He’s waiting for you there

All your sins now pardoned.
Making the path to Him so clear.
Please let not your hearts be hardened,
by the evils oh so near

The time has come to stake your claim.
No longer should you wait.
For you’d have only you to blame
if turned from Heaven’s Gate

UNSUNG

to rock on with being heard;
to express with all the meaning,
to start searching with no ends.
the aftermath of the afterthoughts is not enough,
the beginning just made people want more.
though the song is there,
it still has a hidden deepness behind it.
such words with unlimited defintions,
so much more understanding needed to make it perfect.
lyrics made to recognize genuine emotions;
it can conquer any beasts,
soften any heart.
passion that is yet to be felt:
once, you get it,
there is no turning back.
it will pierce through your tough masks,
leaving you vulnerable.
it will call out to all ages,
start singing to their own beat and melodies!

Learning Cant Go Back

Every second that I search in this dark cave
Come with me my friend your freedom awaits
Fore I take you to the gate, nay it be ye never to late
Never shall ye again be thee enemies slave

If ye fear than stand thee behind
In my left hand I wield His shield
And my right will make the enemy yield
I go back now to free all mankind

No longer shall I leave them blind
Ending this sifting in the darkness
Death to what once was inertness
It is I Jesus Christ who has aligned

Amy Amy Amy

You helped me through a very tough time,
Retro melodies and lyrics put a mellow on my bind,

Found out about you two years ago,
Such a unique singer could work any flow,
Took your own to create such an influential sound,
From something you were never able to fully rebound,
You never comprised, you were honest and cool,
That may not be what everyone says but it's true,
You spoke and sang from the heart,
You always did, even from the start,

Honesty, humility, humbleness and vulnerability,
Traits made it easy for you to live your life publicly,
You set the bar for what many musicians strive to achieve,
You pulled it off with such ease, the stars aligned, it was meant to be,
It takes guts and strength to be your own,
That's why you wear this generations Jazz thrown.

ANTHEM

the anthem of what you believe in,
holding on to what is true, good, and important!
like a miracle waiting to happen,
we are all here to see it deepen.
without pressure to stress in,
no more lack of faith or unworthy desires.
a change in what really matters;
will all the joy and pain that comes with it,
we stand prous to stay here waiting,
time after time for you.
when true admirationis not good enough!
it doesn't end when you fail,
it's just an escape to find a better way to succeed.
to believe in more than our capabilities:
to undergo extreme measures,
not forgetting the just and the fair.
the true meaning of rising up to the anthem you fought so hard to believe and keep.

ECHOES TO HOUSTON

From the wild western plains, I call unto thee my sister of the poetic heart,
Where have thee gone, swallowed whole by a desert storm, or lost amongst
The tumble weed of discontent.
Let the blazing heart of Texas yield thy freedom’s liberation, come home to
The pages of this sacred internet outpost, we miss your shining star, called
Friendship that you gave unto us, Linda, the poet destroyer.
From the depth of the very waters of the Ohio Basin I do call,
Let my voice be heard unto one and all, against the breath of the
Winds of dust, hear me my sister poet, let the soundings crash ripple
Like a wave upon the ocean of sand, echoing across the aroid landscape
Of Houston, we miss you come home!!
Oh upon hell’s storm the night winds do shudder and shake, with
Leaving inspirations heart to ache, what festering wounds have thy
Left behind thee, without our muse we are just the blind wondering
In the darkness of our own thoughts, unable to write with strengths endurance,
Any longer.
Behold a phantom shade am I, a thin wisp of breeze melting beneath the
Desert sun, seeking a mirages illusion known as my sister poet, Called
Linda, the poet destroyer.
A vintage portrait of my former self, without your words of wondrous
Expression my colors run together, and bleed asunder from my canvas once
So miraculous.
But here in my winter of ice cold, in this chamber of the frozen soul,
I call unto you, with one last icy blast of breath come home, unto us,
Don’t let us freeze in this dungeon warm us instead with your words
Of kinship, and friendship.
Let my words echo unto Houston, Texas, let our Linda answer our hailing,
So inspirations sisterhood can breathe once more a sigh of relief at last.

We Shall Always be Many More

We Shall Always be Many More
(For the dispossessed of this world)

we shall always be many more
we who roast in your designer factories
our brows dripping with our salty sweat
we who may forgive but shall never forget

we shall always be many more
we who reek of cheap moonshine
we who stagger and often stumble
we whose stomachs never cease to rumble

we shall always be many more
we who polish your fine bone china
we whose pay gets docked if one cup is chipped
we who fight your wars, and off to battle get shipped

we shall always be many more
we who clean up after your pretty children
we whose kids are hungry, naked and get swept
into the bowels of desolation, as mothers’ tears are wept

we shall always be many more
we who do your dirty work each day
we who you treat like vermin, foul and rotten
we whose trampled dignity is always forgotten

we shall always be many more
we who will rise up and seize the light of hope
and reclaim what is ours for our daughters and sons
though we will always be in the cross-hairs of your guns

we shall always be many more
and there shall be many more of us still to come
to rid you of your smug arrogance and endless greed
for we too have children whom we have to feed

we shall always be many more
‘and the meek shall inherit the earth’
or something like that though we no longer care
for we shall rise up one day to demand our rightful share

we shall always be many more...

One Hell Of A Woman

My mom certainly was a credit to all Humans.
She was wonderful and one Hell of a woman.
Everybody loved her because she was kind and sweet.
She would've loaned you money for rent if you were about to be thrown out into the street.
And if she hadn't needed the money, she wouldn't have made you pay it back.
She was terrific, morals and humanity weren't things that my mom lacked.
She gave donations to help the homeless because she was endearing.
My heart was broken in February of 2013 because the end was nearing.
In 2001 she gave a hundred bucks to help when New York City was attacked.
She was one Hell of a woman and that's not an opinion, that's a cold stone fact.

[Dedicated to Agnes Johnson (1948-2013) who passed away on March 6, 2013.]

Ode to Humanity

It seems like my life is always lacking. Too many blurry faces passing. It's like living in a time when the world is gone, No one can agree because everyone is wrong. If we all could take time to appreciate our lives, And stop believing and telling these foolish lies, Maybe then we could live in harmony, In a world full of love like it was meant to be. I wish I could tell them all the way I feel, But no one will believe because it's so unreal. This idea that we all could be at peace, And we all could be each other's release. Maybe one day we could find some common ground Lying somewhere in the Lost & Found. But you know this is just the way it goes, When all this hatred just overflows. In a time when no one can just understand What it's like to walk with each other hand in hand. It all comes down to a change of mind, And to leave the stigmas and hate behind. Does it really make them feel good deep within, To hate another person based on the color of their skin? It's not what's on the outside that makes them who they are, It's what's inside them; It's what's in their heart. It doesn't matter what we look like externally, The only thing that matters is who we chose to be. We are strong, and have the power to agree, To love and cherish each other's company. And I know that we can all hold each other up and live free. This is my ode to humanity.
