Haiku X 23 - Christmas 2013

           Finally perfect
high in the top the green tree
           The christmas star shines

           The lights are shining
all the children should sleep now
           Christmas tomorrow

            No children crying
a night with good sleep sweet dreams
            Gifts under the tree

The wish is old and yet so real.
A peaceful Christmas I wish for you !

reindeer on the roof
crackling wood fire on the hearth
stirring memories

how magic the night
with all its mingled voices
for joy shed a tear

the tree – family
the lights – red, green, silver – bright
christmas child’s delight

the manger scene
with babe, simple animals
how warm, natural

head on a pillow
gazing up at the ceiling
a web of shadows

young thoughts go racing
mist – santa’s elves on the stairs
wishing time away

till it’s morning
those presents under the tree
eyelids grow heavy

before dropping off
this deep, jolly, ho, ho, ho!
Then to sleep

Christmas night

                                                Christmas night-
                                             looking for that star
                                                 in every star

Christmas Without a Christmas Tree

Glittery Christmas
Filled cavity on my mind
Christmas ain't yet come

Sight flickering glare
Alternately trap my eyes
But shines ain't for me

Christmas, dear Christmas
Be the present of my tears
Tiny hug in missed

A tree full of lights
Shimmered warm, deep on my cries
Sad memories blinked

Pretty past inhaled
When time puts togetherness
Now just three of us

New family tree
The Santa's gift as mercy
God truly blessed me

Ten days till Christmas
Ten days of worry hustle
What shall I get her?

She won’t help me out
Won’t even give me a clue
What’s a man to do?

She never complains
About my Christmas presents
No just this blank look

Makes me feel so small
Makes her feel she has revenge
A poke in the gut

“You never listen!”
These are some of her complaints
“You leave the seat up!

Don’t care how I dress
Might as well wear an old sack
Just like some old hag”

I can’t help but laugh
Because her description fits
OW! OUCH! That did it!

I will pay dearly
That laugh has ruined her Yule
Ten days of silence

Ten days on the couch
Eating out at McDonald’s
By myself outcast

Thanks Lord ten wonderful days

This is not a description of my married life. I’m just having fun. This is more of a Major Hoople
poem – “Egad, Martha! Awpf Sputt!”
