In the midst of morn she quietly rose
to greet the dawn of silent repose
She searched beyond the frozen hills
and through the bough's of crystal frills
She danced in dream as clouds rolled by
in hopes the sun would pierce the sky
As moments passed nil of light
the wind kicked up with all it's might
In tumbling turmoil the west winds raged
in fluttering beauty to turn the page
Within a breath a single sigh
the Winter wrath had waved goodbye
As sunlight burned of velvet white
upon her face a shaft of light...

Against the velvet canvas of night the downy snow falls all around me.
Silence deafening, falling upon my ears in this winter wonderland I see.
The chill of winters breath places it's kiss upon rose petal skin so light.
Whilst I stand 'neath tiny flakes and behold this magnificent sight.
I adore the silence of this winter wonderland that only my soul does know.
As I walk by crystal streams that flow dotted white with cottony snow.
Oh the heavenly peace that encompasses my soul this wintry night.
As the snow glistens and sparkles under the soft glow of moonlight.
I stand awestruck as I gaze upon snow covered emerald pine.
Dusted in winters frosty touch so heavenly sublime.
God placed a love of winters beauty within my lil' ol' country heart.
Soft memories of this wonderland from my mind will never part.

Ahh..the wonders in the beauty that my brown eyes behold.
On this frosty country mornin' my heart does hold.
As downy white snowflakes fall gently, softly before me.
Blanketing the tall pines with it's beauty I see.
Such a quiet peace so deafening as it befalls my ear.
Whilst I watch a family of deer in the fields so near.
The crimson red cardinals grace the snow tipped pine.
God truly has made this day especially to be mine.
How picturesque my lil country hollow looks today.
As if from a Norman Rockwell painting quaint in every way.
The streams crystal waters snow capped with downy white snow.
There's a chill in the air as the wintry winds begin to blow.
So blessed to live in my lil country cabin deep in the hills.
So much to be thankful for on this wintry day so many thrills.
Inside my cabin a fire roars in the grand stone fireplace.
Whilst the bright orange flames bring warmth to my face.
In my heart there is no place better than my lil country home.
So serene and beautiful from which I'll never roam.

Sparkling snow crystals in a bright blue winter wonderland in your hand
A lovely thought about my pretty and beloved mother land
If you see angels in the snow you can remember the time with romance
Enjoy the tranquility descend while giving your childhood a second chance
Snow glistened and sparkled as the most beautiful diamonds at first glance
It was almost a little magic in what happened.... or was it romance
Childhood memories aroused when you see the rabbit tracks in the snow by chance
Oh, so rich I felt as a child in the clear, cold winter nights in snow crystals dance
Small red kids boots in sharp contrast to the white snow and a diamond remnants
Childrens eyes shining in delight and snow crystals sparkle of happiness evidence

"It's night before it's afternoon.
December is here before it's June."
Crystals had fluttered to the ground
And settled gently all around,
White as moistened quilt of feather
Upon the pale evening's heather...
Bare now after November’s hand
Stripped the fields while tints disband,
Endowing the trees with light finesse
And silver stars of gracefulness.
It is cold, yet dapples of gold
Spill through the air as morns enfold...
Of late, in opal sheen, dawn glides
Through cycle's bend on the hillsides
Revealing leaves that gush nearby,
Like chunky pearls beneath the sky
Draped by winter that will upswing
Till asters cast their spell in spring!

Virgin snow sparkles in the darkest hour
as stardust dances with celestial power.
Silently it rains upon mother earth
giving witness to such an idyllic birth.
A fawn and doe now break the glaze
like tiny spoons upon crème brulees.
Below Polaris they prance and snort,
for they seem to know the time is short.
For such a night is a rare event,
as blue light above is heaven sent.
Wondrous luminescent tranquility
trumps any earthly poet’s ability.
Now the first rays pierce the frigid night
and Orion’s bow soon fades to light.
White carpet dulls now without the luster
of a nocturnal painter, the starlight duster.

Such beauty that falls from the heavens tonight like downy feathers from on high.
Falling from angels wings gently blanketing the earth in whispered breaths of a sigh.
A silent hush befalls the lil' country hollow where emerald pines they grace.
And snow capped streams flow endlessly with ice crystals that weave and lace.
Winters breath so frigid and cold howls outside the lil' country cabin of log .
And inside by the grand stone fireplace sleeping soundly the old hound dog.
As I look out through frosted window pane at my heavenly winter wonderland on display.
It's as if through the silence you can hear the angels sing and on their harps they play.
Such peace my country heart finds within the downy snow so soft and virgin white.
A serenity that only God above can know was placed within my soul this very night.

Outside so cold
Let Winters story unfold
The lake now ice
A fire out back, so nice
As the blizzard sets in
A snowball fight will separate the boys from the men
A snowman emerges from hard work
A little boy knocks it over, what a jerk
A snow day for school
All the kids think it's cool
Shovel the snow from the porch
The intense cold can scorch
Go back inside
From the cold, run and hide

Winter’s Frozen End
Into the Rocky Mountains they’re all covered in winter-filled iced up caps
Near the end of this whitened season soon they’ll be taking sun-filled naps,
They’re lazily snow-filled covered mountains melting snow does flow
Genteel like a feathered slow running tap within an olden tap does go,
Thinly many a frozen brook are filtering with a whisper of silence set free
To a twin of gloriously rivers upon a warmth of the bluest raging of sea.
Many of the lakes below the mountains are filtered and filled with icy covers
Floods their warmth of carefree waves to the calling of swimmers and lovers.
In the hidden valleys they adorn a smoke of donning a spark of perfume in a fireplace logs
Are lovers, families filled with food and love for each other as they stare with soul-full
Amidst the mountains are their trees so barren and have bended and sparse of leaves
Along comes spring the their filled with knitted dresses of greenery to perceive,
Our beautiful spring hastens to all the nourishing scenes amongst the mountains tend
Alas, this beautiful season fades within the all inclusice of Winter’s Forzen End.

Will Shed a Tear
Woke up this morning to a new dawn;
Looked outside and Autumn had gone
Winter was here and the wind did blow
Then everything was covered with snow.
Old year had gone and new one neared
Following Autumn that had disappeared
With colorful leafs beautiful had been
Soon will be able to see them again.
About Autumn, what do I like the most?
In Halloween they always have a ghost
But still does remain such a pretty scene;
Leafs covered grass which once was green.
Autumn to many has been known as fall
Then under Christmas tree will be a doll
This will be my favorite time of the year
And now that it is gone will shed a tear.

I'm sitting by the river in the centre of Inverness
In a place we call the islands, beauty in capture finesse
It's late into the evening as I listen to the cold grey flow
So soothing in this tranquil setting, inside I'm all aglow
I take this time to pause and close my eyes and listen
For in my mind I picture the full moons rivered glisten
This winter coat instrumental resonates with echoing sounds
Pipistrelle bats and Starlings flock, the latter in roosting surround
Whilst in the distance canines bark in a language we can't even comprehend
The picking up of natures delights, in unlimited voiced transcend
As I sit through these melodic notes I begin to realise
That I am here to hear these sounds and every ones a prize
I'm still sitting by the river in the centre of Inverness
If you ever desire to sit beside me, please do, you'll be my guest

First green, then gold, now downy white
Fields wear their gown of wintry delight
Flakes soft upon the evergreen glisten
The doe quietly raises her head to listen
No sound but that of a winter wren
Calling to her mate in the forest glen
Beneath her blanket rests the earth
Gathering strength for spring's rebirth...

The playing starts each October in the fall.
But alas, this year there is no basketball.
Another season should have started for the NBA.
However, fans will not see their teams play.
From the Knickerbockers in New York, to the Lakers in LA,
will this competition start? Nobody can say.
As we approach winter, there is increasing doubt.
The owners have gotten together and locked the players out.
We will not see free throws or slam dunks today.
It appears there will be no playoffs in May.
With no basketball to see, where shall we go?
Perhaps a blizzard will come, and we will shovel snow.

A bountiful bevy of beautiful birds flew by
Their soft and shining silhouettes eliciting a sigh
They dipped and dove and drew pictures in the air
That delightful , dazzling, December day so fair
The snow so softly settling on the sated ground
Cheeky, chattering, calling birds the only sound
Silvery shards of sunlight on the frozen lake
A perfect picture, now pleasured breathes I take
Nature can naturally nurture and nurse our soul
When hackneyed, harried days have taken their toll

Lingering gracefully though Heaven's gold
She tosses white flakes of eve that grow cold;
Twigs stretching their arms to the tinseled sky
In a chill of breeze as she walks nearby.
Signalling her presence in fine, laced gown
Her gems are rubies and pearls on a crown,
In hues delightful, as blushed nights reveal
A December glow, in wintertime's zeal.
Her scent quite distinct, of peat and wood smoke
Mellow as leaf mold yet burnished as oak,
Her gaze rising like snow, gentle then rough
Glossy as chestnuts, abundant enough.
While she smiles, the fireplace her hand bears
Tumbles of stillness on whispered prayers...
She pauses briefly, then turning her face
Abandons frothed charms to Season's embrace.

Finding an image to focus on
My mind lifts my soul with song
Simple... my perceptions changing
Negative vibes rearranging....
Yellow daffodils spring to mind
So early a blossom, winter shines~
Sweet and hollow its trumpet appears
Soaking up sunshine as snow disappears
Crisp and bold flawless in scheme
Long winter's magical dream
Blossom Daffodil all around my lawn
Adamantly filling the crisp damp dawn
Boldly obvious blossoms in snow
Complicates winter with her glow
Daffodil arrivs at winters' end
Offering hope to a despairing friend

We would get used to the heat
If not for the body-armor.
We could always taste the dust
Which made it seem even warmer.
Ballistic sunglasses blocked the glare,
But didn't keep out the sweat.
The smell of raw sewage and rot
We would never soon forget.
I assumed the ground would be sandy,
But it was really all silt and clay.
There was so much fouled standing water
After their annual rainy season days.
The only time I wasn't over-heating
Was in January's rains in Mosul, Iraq.
After wading through so much filth,
I'm happy to never, ever, ever go back.

The palms of my hands hold silky cheeks as heat spills..
My heart forces warmth through out my lips to my toes..

Finishing up the last notes from my work day, I’m really late,
Looking out my window, my drive tonight, I’m going to hate.
I grab my briefcase and walk to my car, on a sheet of ice.
Slipping and sliding left and right, this is not going to be nice.
Takes twenty minutes to clear the snow from my car window,
If I can hardly move, how will my car drive, I just don’t know.
Hitting the windshield, the snowflakes are big, puffy and white,
They fly at you almost hypnotizing, you completely lose sight.
Once you reach country roads the white knuckles truly begin,
If you can keep between the hydro poles, you may just win.
Hold on tight, keep your wheel straight, put your lights on low,
Pray your defrost keeps working as you make through the snow.
A blanket of whiteness envelopes you, no sounds or lights to see,
Alone in this blizzard, you drive, terrifying, yet a strange tranquility.
Once home, after a good night’s sleep, you arise from bed at seven,
Trees iced in froth, the ground painted white, looks a bit like heaven.
Sun comes up, temperatures rise and once again green appears,
Nature makes the world safe again, slowly melts away your fears.
To think that I could have easily been killed driving home last night,
You consider the beauty of country living and soon forget the fright.

At the edge of dawn, to climb the path, along the windswept hills
The world lies blue, from a downy night, and views serene and still
The world is hushed, nowhere to rush, at least that’s how it seems
I will walk along a crystal stream, as if it still my dream
The arching sky, surrounds my eyes, a morning star that shines
As sun comes up to tint the snow, with pink among the pines
The birds and deer have reappeared, and all the things that creep
Below the hills, a sparkling town, is soon aroused from sleep
The world is changed from winter’s blue to soft and ermine white
A snowglobe world, is all aglow, of winter kissed delight
My soul refreshed, with frosty breath, and I find my worries cease
Contentment comes on silken wings, my world seems filled with peace

Snow flakes and Easter lilies scatter the ground
Winter time and Spring time seem to be having a round
Like a game of tug of war each side wants control
Today it was winter who wanted to rock n roll
Tomorrow maybe Spring time will give it a heave ho
Guess we won’t know till tomorrow though

Jolly is the coldest season
Loving Winter is no treason.
Rain, sleet and snow
A marvellous show.
The Winter solstice
Daylight of injustice.
Man should wrap up in armour
Often known as a willy warmer.
Woman with thick tights pulled up their legs
Keeping them like a well cooked bacon and eggs.
Winter of discontent
The homeless in torment.
Not many insects found
All buried underground.
Flocks of sheep abiding
The shepherds trembling.
Hedgehogs in guileless sleep
Foxes hungry for sheep.
A triumphant winter adored
Praise be the cold and bored.

There's something truly magic, when snowflakes start to fly.
A fairyland of wonderous white, beneath a clear, cold sky.
I enjoy looking at the leafless trees, standing there so bare.
I also love the evergreens, which are also standing there.
The world is white and silent, draped in pure white snow.
It's a lovely winter wonderland, everywhere you go!
A mild north wind is blowing, snow comes swirling down.
It creates a feathery blanket, which covers up the ground.
Walkers footsteps are quickly hidden, by the freshly fallen snow.
Kids are out with friends on sleds, their faces all aglow.
Sounds of the season all seem new, with the crunch of boots on the ground.
There's so much to see in the great outdoors, when winter comes around.

Winter arrives upon the wind,
bringing arctic climate to mind.
Flora loses petals and leaves;
fauna secures food from thieves.
Nature reminds what’s to be done,
before Jack Frost begins his fun.
I should take these lessons in hand,
even if the actions are bland.
Soon, I need to seal my window,
before I freeze to my pillow.

Winter time in sixty four I went way south, an Wagga saw,
Yes it was bloody cold, and I was surely young and poor,
While there in the army camp, the coldest showers ever had,
Hot water wasn’t there about , recruit Johnson label, sad,
I swore I’d never go back south, fingers numb six weeks way south,
And I never have returned to the cold, true to my word of mouth,
Queensland doesn’t see the sleet, or have the snow around your feet,
Just heat and nothing more than heat, here we have the bloody heat,
Springs almost gone, and sweat it flows, under a sheet sleep naked though,
Too hot for loving treats, but sweating lovers do I know, seen tween toe n toe,
So take your cold an hold it close, does not suit me till I’m comatose,
When they slip me in the icy draw, with strangers I suppose.

Sounds from my footsteps are muffled by the newly fallen snow
The air is cold and all is hushed as I walk a path I know
White flakes have fallen quickly throughout this winter's day
And now there is a deep blanket over this silent wooded way
Stately trees stand quietly watching as I walk this forest trail
Snow has covered their northern sides like a heavy veil
Fir trees bow their burdened branches as I pass slowly by
And in these quiet moments I can almost hear them sigh
The end of my trek draws closer and slowly the sun begins to sink
The snow that once was bright white is now tinged by sunset pink
Peace and beauty surround me here - it takes my breath away
So I stand here silently and wish that I could stay

Oh, I've dreamt of the crystalline morn
where the tinkle of ice melts, as the day's born.
In my sleep I've seen the lilac boughs dipped
in ice like egg white upon each buds tip.
Panes of glass with frost with doilies adorned
each melt in the sun, their passing is mourned.
As I rise, I see my dream's come to pass...
I stare from beneath down out through the glass.
Such is the magic of Winter's white days
when all of nature is a frosted bright glaze.

Single file in a row
bare feet freezing in the snow
in a pile, bodies burn
all wait fearfully for their turn
ash and smoke clog the air
ringing with screams of despair
moving closer to their end
their minds begin to slowly bend
the snow is stained with crimson red
drinking in the blood they've shed
in the trees, starved ravens wait
to feed on those who've met their fate
more bodies burn, the bells tolls on
the moon reveals a scarlet dawn
as all the corpses burn in heaps
just for now, the darkness sleeps

Beautiful celestial crystals grip the earth by the neck
And all servants of shiver on the skin pore deck.
A Tit in elegance flaps her leathery wings
And sings all blessings that winter brings.
Nude trees coated by soft pile of snow
Stand in awe and worship the silvery glow.
The Robins can never be left out,
The sweethearts of the very cold sprout
Dressed in orange-red and glittering brown feathers
And offer adoration to the cold weather.
No charmer like the winter's silvery gown
That carpets the dull face of every town.
