Freedom

In solitude I dream tonight
And watch a moth in fevered flight.

It’s drawn toward my quaint porch light
And flies consumed with all its might.

Through open window I can see
Its desperation shared with me;

How freedom in this world is light—
And we as souls are drawn to fight.

Though freedom’s light may cause our death,
It’s worth the risk with every breath.

I understand the moth’s sad plight
When drawn to the glorious light.

Though it knows not of human trust,
It buzzes on because it must!

A Desert Song

I found the bottle lying on a dune of wind-swept sand,
And I brushed the grains upon it with a weak and trembling hand,

I was crazy-mad for water, I was more than three days dry,
So I pulled the cork with sand fouled teeth and spat it at the sky.

What came out wasn't water, it tasted more like smoke,
So I thought myself the victim of some fools cruel joke.

Then standing there before me, like a Muslim houri dressed,
Was a damsel more than beautiful, who my flaking face caressed.

She said "you've given me my freedom from my prison of the ages.
So I offer wishes numbering three as payment of your wages."

I knew what I desired, I knew what to wish for first,
I said "give drink to all upon this world who now suffer thirst.

But give those thirsty, a love of fellow, more than words upon the lip.
So they offer the bottle to a brother, before they take a sip.

And give those brethren gratitude, to kneel before they swallow
And thank whatevever God they serve for allowing them to follow."

When this was said I realised, my wishes all were spent,
Which was what I knew I'd wanted, from my first intent.

She said "o man, I see you're one, whom God has truly blessed,
So take a drink of water, and lay thee down to rest.

I grant thee freedom from jealousy, from earthly want, from sin.
Accept these gifts as tribute from an Effete of the Green Djinn."

My reason for wishing as I did, to this day seems to flee me,
But nightly as I slumber well, I still dream of Genie.

A Heritage No Man Can Sell

A heritage no man can sell,
a history no man can tell;
so much we share in Jesus' band,
nothing to fear, in storms we stand.

To lordly things we are kindred,
mansions of gold, pure and sacred;
to endless beam, to saintly streams,
to heaven's gaze and holy hymns.

Our dreams are shaped eternaly
by faith and love in God's alley;
no baser thought our spirit fills,
as we approach heavenly hills.

We who are born of Christ Jesus,
Hallelujah is our chorus;
pilgrims we are, on earth we roam,
yet pressing on to our glorious home.

A soldier's friend

Slowly breathing with a steady beat
Boots are crunching you feel the heat

You inch on closer, looking around
Watching your friends make not a sound

You have been told to kill this man
A threat he is to freedoms plan

Hold up your rifle, take careful aim
Let go of the guilt your not to blame

Orders you follow a good soldier you are
Try not to think the size of the scar

That this order will bring deep in your soul
We raise the flag on top of this soldier's hole

I will give support, I will lend my hand
So you can brother, continue to stand

To fight for the freedoms of people everywhere
Down your rifle I, with you, shall stare

DON'T WORRY - YOU'RE COVERED

Copyright © 2013
07/27/2013

Politicians' greed seems to hover
Over our lives, a simmering cover

Separation of Church and State?
  Satan planned mankind's fate

As in the days of Noah, sin did hover
Over their land like locusts do cover

The faithful do not fret what is hovering
By HIS Blood, the Lord is still covering

Our leaders refuse to make a deal
  When enthralled by Satan's Will

Politics, and selfish greed
  Failing our Nation's need

Obama-Care, a change that's fair
  Or, struggling against Satan's lair?

But, ye faithful remember the heavens hover
Till horns blow clearing clouds that do cover.

You Do Not Need The Gods

You do not need the gods to be great,
feast not on the seeds of false fate.
Soar to the skies, sit at the shore of destiny,
tomorrow belongs to hope and harmony:
harmony of faith in the field of fears
and trust in the terrain of terrible tears.
Let us woo wisdom in a world of worries,
tommorow is a mansion of mysteries.

You do not need the gods to be great,
treasure each moment, tomorrow will wait.
Sit not on life's throne of thraldom,
we are slaves sold to the fold of freedom.
Bitter is the root of reality, taste the truth;
life will bow down to a dogged youth.

We do not need the gods to be great,
cowards are people without a common plate.
Where love is lost, life is imprisoned;
wars of woes will get salted and seasoned.
Look not behind, it is the hall of history,
before you lies the mountain of mystery.
Look not around, it is decked with distraction;
look within and plunge into the pool of passion.

The gods are dead,
they know not what lies ahead.
Ask not for rain when there are no seeds,
feed not your fate with dead deeds.

Give Peace a Chance

Everything in this world deserves a chance to live,
but in the real world some would rather take then give.
                                             GIVE PEACE A CHANCE

Too many innocent angels have been taken away,
then more innocent are left to wonder why and pray.
                                             GIVE PEACE A CHANCE

What makes some people think they are better then me,
God created us all equal and his son set us free.
                                             GIVE PEACE A CHANCE

Children are killing children there is no excuse,
and it is never right to say I win,you lose.
                                             GIVE PEACE A CHANCE

We will never understand the evil that we see,
when there is no difference between you and me.
                                             GIVE PEACE A CHANCE

I pray that one day we can dance the same dance,
                                            but until that day comes,
                                             GIVE PEACE A CHANCE

A Mermaid's Point of View

They pollute our waters, the land, the air
They pollute the planet without a care

They kill our friends from down below
As they swim up to say hello

They build weapons to kill each other
They don't respect each race or colour

They try to hunt us in every way
But they cannot find our hideaway

We'll never surface because we fear
We cannot trust the humans here

Rootless Freedom

Reflection of a past is lingering in mind
Illegal was religion and Gods were not so kind

So THEY demolished faith, put Churches upside down
and built a monster palace for a self-elected clown

As I kneel softly, slowly, on rootless Nature's beauty
To quench my thirst for Freedom hindsight's my heart's duty

To pray for souls of parents as they rest on roots of love
I clean my face with water, drink Freedom like a dove...

What's in Our American Future

Is our American Nation, now the new frontier
by accepting All People that seek work and life here

I understand technology has shrunken this world
Did the Rights of Citizens shrink, as our flag unfurled

It seems that the loudest voices that you hear today
All cater to self interest, while trying to lead America astray

"We the People" does it still mean Citizens have the Voice
To decide what is best for America, We The People Make The Choice

When big money and interests from outside these states
Try to dictate Our Future, by buying people to act as mates

Remember the words shouted by Paul Revere on his ride
Listen to the cries from our ancestors as they seek to divide

When limits are the only solutions and if bans become fact
Citizens think for yourself, what you lose, and judge the impact

If our States Rights are limited, to a path by government as planned
It's our ancestors battles, blood and voices that put a vote in your hand

We can Teach All The Children of whats right and whats wrong
To pray, Trust in God, the value of family and how to belong

We have been leaving teaching to others to seek and accumulate wealth
Without thinking coins can't buy an Angel or protect children's mental health

Their are so many different answers That We All Need To Discuss,
so cut those puppet strings, start thinking, instead of riding the bus

Admiral Lord Nelson

Blessed with ingenuity, he fought advancing tyranny
That stormed the sea in twenty-three great warships sailing furiously.

That day, October twenty-first, saw Admiral Nelson at his worst,
As cannons roared, while gunners cursed. The times were changed, the tides reversed.

Lord Nelson, as an admiral brave with all his fleet defied the grave,
His native land and king to save:-- his life for freedom's cause he gave.

In but a half a dozen hours he humbled Europe's finest pow'rs,
And toppled Tyranny's highest tow'rs; yet Vict'ry found him crowned with flow'rs,

And not a place the crown to lay, on him, nor all who died that day
In sending Britain's foes away, across the stormy seas of grey.

OPENED EYES

written 28th sept 2007

It's time to turn this around
the answers I have finally found
The minute I looked into your eyes
I immediately remembered, how to be alive

If I didnt go through, all those years of pain
my life wouldn't be the same
Your birth, nothing less than magical, complete power of God's love....

For you shone through complete demonic darkness
ever since, I have been more than blessed
 you re-opened my heart
So I could again, play the part

I've been given a second chance
This time round, I wont forget to dance
 to love, open and freely
Its finally great to again be me

I've turned my frown upside down
And it's from God's gift, when pure innocence was born
my sixth child, a blessed tiny little girl

I PURSUE MY BLESSINGS

I PURSUE MY BLESSINGS On this voyage that I travel, I seek. Treasure is to be found by me. Many miles away I must go to fulfill my soul. This journey I have chosen will end soon. I will treasure the memory the knowledge found. Many miles away I must go to fulfill souls. I am not tripping because I am expeditious. The crossing I chance is for riches. Many miles away I must go ambiance call. I have trek in South Africa. I roamed in the West Indies, etc... Many miles away I must go to prefect. I wandered far and wide. I found a life fortified. To flaunt the blessings I have found. Equipped to conquer more, I am satisfied, thus far. Many miles away I ponder. My rewards are humongous. The world knows. Wealth is shown. Many miles away I treasure hunt. A job well done! _________________________________/ Sponsor: Roger Horsch Contest Name: Many Miles Away Entry Date: March 29, 2014 Date Written: March 29. 2014 Motif: Many miles away

Freedom's Flight

An infinite touch of heavenly love in the spirit of freedom we find,
lighting the way for the coming day is a blessing like no other kind...

Love is our guide with freedom we strive never give up on the drive,
Whether pain or pleasure poverty or treasure love is just being alive...

Never let go of compassionate ways through all of these heartfelt days,
embrace toward freedom's emotional rescue reflecting upon loves rays...

Those perfect rays of our loved ones that we will forever hold dearly tight,
With all of their beautiful faces throughout this freedom's flight...

Dream Weaver

Moon dancer, in your petticoats, swirling on the lawn,
dewdrop drinker, night wind stalker, daughter of the dawn.

Castanets coil your fingers, diamonds drape your toes;
not equal, but greater, if with normal juxtaposed.

Beautifully different, a gypsy sort of soul,
one, who out of nothing, music can cajole.

Lightly stepping, ever reaching, walking upon air;
if searching, one will find you climbing heaven's stair.

Don't let the stale world change you; continue to pursue
your dreamy fabrication--living impromptu.

Le Vacance Pretentieuse: Darts

Drops of sweat slip from my furrowed brow
Eyes squint, select a number and let fly now

Miss again, a millimetre is a mile once more
Aimed for triple twenty, only got double four

The walk of shame, my oh so familiar friend
Silence broken, on alcohol I forever depend

The steel point of eyes bore into my neck
My opponent leaves me a juddering wreck

I lose the match; the wife won’t give me a kiss
I wish I could have been anything else than this...

The Yoyo Player

The yo-yo player set it off, it is spinning on its length
He knew it was his skill his talent and his strength.

To let the yo-yo go with a flick of his wrist
If he had done it right it would run and then twist.

It would spin and roll away as far it could
But on its return it would come back to him or should.

No matter where it went he had a firm loving hold
The yo-yo was spinning but doing what it is told.

It has the freedom to turn roll and to spin
Because of that freedom it will return to him.

The flick as it goes sends it spinning so fast
But returns to the hand that it left last.

He can flick he can pull and he can really let it go
But he is a master and it will return from each throw.

He has loved he has learnt it through pain and tears
The spinning yo-yo he sent off will return there’s no fear.

Detox me from this World

Obsessions and vanities
False lovers, calamities

Misfortune and shame
Our world’s sinister game

The more you have the more you need,
Fixing your eyes on possessions and greed.

Stab your neighbor through their eye
So they are blinded by your lie.

Keep all busy and far from home
So children are left to roam alone,

Murdered by the age of eighteen
What do you expect when your world is creating machines?

Assembly lines are still in effect,
Just this time it’s your soul they require you to check,

Loyalty fades through each generation,
Yet we wonder why so many are filled with manipulation.

Take a pill, for Everything
As long as you perform, conform and bring

Take no time to share or care
Just as long as at 7am you are there.

Smiles are perceived as suspicion,
Our mouths are ammunition.

While each group gets worse
We embrace societies curse.

For intellect now rules
Yet, technology has created fools

Dependent on everything else
Except God and ourselves

Detox me
From deep within
For this war is something I will win
The shallowness of daily faces
Leads my spirit into dry places,

Detox me
From former foes,
For their webs were spun and I didn’t know,
Their empty hearts that cannot understand me,
Leads my soul to cry out to thee.

Detox me!

Detox me!

from this world.

LEST WE FORGET

I was thinking about liberty this past Memorial Day,
How the freedom won by others is here for us to stay.

It wasn't just the stroke of a pen that made men free,
But the hard and difficult sacrifices, that gave us Liberty.

We broke the allegiance to a king so far away,
Pulled together as a nation, that has survived until today.

We've fought against our own brothers to make slavery die,
We still are healing from those wounds, with every racial cry.

Like other nations bent on their empire's expanse,
We have fought to that tune and made other men dance.

But our stance has been true though all the horrors,
Especially when we sent our boys to the "War To End All Wars".

The world thought it worked and it did for awhile,
But tyranny and evils will not end with only a smile.

Another generation of men to freedom's call,
And the flag with 48 stars then, was needed by all.

Even after the victories we had an uphill fight,
The evils among us would not take flight.

So Freedom and Liberty have to be won each day,
By those who survive the battle's fray.

Not only the soldier is in that battle you know,
Each one of us, has that same burden to tow.

For if we are to remain free in this great land,
"Liberty and Justice for ALL" must go hand in hand.

When we know of wrong being done,
It is our duty to help, as Freedom's citizen.

Not just with lip service which continues despair,
But get in the trenches, and Liberty repair.

It is the hard won fight that brought us this far,
The hard won victories of goodness and care.

Have we forgotten who we are and from whenst we came?
The words of "Freedom and Liberty" would not be the same.

Except that a few men had the willingness to forego,
Their fortunes, their lives, and to their posterity bestow.

That Freedom and Liberty should come to all in this land,
Can we do less, to keep to their plan?

Someone once said, "It's not easy being me."
It is harder still to live in the land of the Free.

Where we enjoy our Liberty and Freedom to choose,
Yet, how often have we let it be abused?

Vote...if you want to keep your Liberty,
Vote...if you want your children to be Free.

It is in our right to vote that we have won this prize,
Do not let its light be dimmed by "I don't need to..." sighs.

For men the world over have we sent our own to save,
For Freedom and Liberty - and The Home of The Brave!

My Ode to the Netherlands

My Ode to the Netherlands
White water lilies picked for Verlena in Friesland. The Dutch Republic is over a century old. We are there during autumn. Flowers are everywhere. The sunflower fields The sunbeams Yellow and brown profound the canvas To visit the Domtower is a climb. Utrecht is a trek. An ode comes to mind… Dutch greetings we say… Dutch greetings we say, in the land of Friesland today. Welcome all! Our home is our joy. We are logical people and not emotional. We are expressive in our thoughts. Call us opinionates, if you want. Dutch greetings we say to all! ________________________________________________________/

Memorial Day

Memorial Day is a day to remember
All the men and women who gave their lives
So that we could be free
To be proud to live in this country and know that freedom is here for you and me
So thank the lord everyday for those brave men and women who paved the way
And take the time out of your day
To thank them for the freedom we all have on this memorial day

The Flag is You -- Ground Zero

Your words became the thread that strung
the stars in skies so blue.
That represent the fifty states
of Muslim Christian Jew.

Your thoughts recorded secretly
in a cozy nook of night.
Are heartfelt for the victims
these represent the white.

Your hearts that grieved in unison
for an unknown toll of dead.
Beat sad but proud in every chest
and they became the red.

That flag they raised amid the ruins
The red the white the blue.
A symbol of eternal hope
Was planted there by you.

Humble for my own sake

I do not turn the other cheek,
so you can boast in my defeat,
I do not love my enemies
with but a smile, but earnestly,
I humble my once proud heart
in hopes to reach maturity.
Ive had my share of battles fought,
and scars to show for lesson taught
still no reason conceit
will ever I pursue or seek.

I do bless when others curse
to show my weakness with remorse
but I becomes a broken horse.
Following my master's righteous course.
I find no joy in any pain
but I pursue knowledge to gain
an ever steadfast path in life
not dictated by my strife,
so I do none of these for you
but for my certain peace of mind
that when I'm struck down by another
my heart still knows how to be kind.

The Court Of Humanity

This man will hang for his sins against humanity
Judged so harshly by his peers, he will not be set free

He asks “Why must I die for my crimes?”
“Because you’re guilty and it was only a matter of time”

He demands “But who decides if I’m guilty?”
“We do, we are the few thus we are the many”

The man stood in silence as he contemplated this
He queried “That makes no sense, what point did I miss?”

“Our meanings are not for you to decipher”
A quick moment of silenced followed, broken by the man’s laughter

He jests “How am I to understand my fate, if you will not share with me your conclusions?”
“Do you mock this court? The only conclusion you shall know is that we will not tolerate obtrusions”

He observes “I think this is a case of the blind leading the blind”
“Justice is never blind; we understand you and your kind”

He accuses “You are all like me”
“Yet you’re guilty, while we’re free”

He asks “So freedom is perception, we are as we perceive?”
“No freedom is corrected to serve the people’s needs”

He asks “So freedom is a business, produced by whom?”
“Freedom is none of your concern, your time is up, and your life is due”

And so the rope was put around the man’s head
He demands “Wait let me speak my last words before I’m dead!”

He speaks “All I fear is that I will be forgotten”
“That my family will not remember me and the other side will win”

“I don’t understand what it is to be human, I can’t handle the pain”
“And you all understand too well, yet you can handle the shame”

As he braces himself for death
He utters his last words under his breath

“If ignorance is bliss”
“Then apathy is a heaven you couldn’t bear to miss”

Rocks

I want to remember the feeling of throwing a rock
Watching it skip as I stand on the dock

Never worrying how far it will go
If it gets there fast or slow

In that moment time moved as a snail
Nothing in this world could fail

It flies crooked & bounces wrong
Didn’t even skip for long
         And that’s ok
Because before you could think to care
Every little boy had another flying through the air

Liberty is a Gift

Whether we are black, red white or brown
We are all born to wear freedoms crown

Liberty is gifted from mother to child
The freedom from birth as viewed from her smile

No one has the right to take either away
However its been done on any given day

Retribution is not, the answer for this
Its our civility laws, that return us to bliss

We enter this world free, with impending forks on our roads
What gives us the liberty to freedom unload

Whether we are black, red white or brown
Some of us will end up to be freedoms clowns

Independence Day: A New Tradition

  Oh say can you see,
Not your ordinary letter from me.

You might enjoy a parade and some fireworks too,
Just to remember the red, white, and blue.

Or sing the national anthem before your favorite quarterback kicks,
To honor the freedom we've had since 1776.

But this year I propose, a brand new tradition,
Not something you’d likely hear from a politician.

Since we're already together, united as one,
I thought we could remember there's still work to be done!

For so many countries still need a hand,
To have freedom like we have here in our land.

Many have no rights like freedom of speech; out of fear they will refrain.
Without money for food or a place to sleep, in chains they will remain.

They don't have the option of an unemployment check,
If the father's out of work, then it's all hands on deck.

  The kids aren't really worried about college applications in the fall;
They're just hoping for the day that they could go to school at all.

So I'm only going to ask that you do this one thing:
Be a voice for the voiceless, and truly honor our king.

Because it wasn't just Jefferson who made this a land of liberty,
But it was really Jesus Christ who truly set us free.

So let's all take a stand, from sea to shining sea,
And watch together as we change our very own history.

But wait! There's one more thing left to say,
  Happy Independence Day!

War-Born Lullaby

I hear a mother softly cry
As she sings a war-born lullaby.

The song of a father who went away,
To give freedom one more day.

He promised that he would return,
Return from watching evil burn.

It was a promise he could not keep,
As now he sleeps an eternal sleep.

He gave his life so his child could see,
A land of freedom and liberty.

His body now rests beneath green grass,
His medals and picture behind clear glass.

His soul, however, is not gone.
His ideas and dreams are carried on.

She sings the song of war’s high cost.
She sings the song of freedom not lost.

She sings of a father’s sacrifice,
For his country and family he gave his life.

TRUTH OF THE TRICOLOUR

The Tricolour flutters pompously...
Hiding the truth which we cannot see....
The blood sacrificed in its service....
The eyes that were shut before the final wish....!

Each iota of air that we breathe...
Is their gift that we blindly receive....
The flowers that pour from the flag so lavishly....
Hold their tears and years many....!

Freedom was never a possession we had....
Until they toiled and died a death so sad...
Civilized class that we are today....
We don't have a minute of attention anyway
To stand and revere the national anthem...
But those heroes gave their lives in martyrdom....
Bartering their lives for our freedom....!!!

OLD GLORY

A Field of Blue and Thirteen Stars of White,
Once pitted against all England's might.

Courage shown by men who knew,
"Royal Freedom" would never do.

A hot July in Philadelphia town,
Where a rebellion's seed would now be sown.

Declared were freedoms all had sought,
Only now to be won, by battles to be fought.

"Don't Tread On Us" rose the cry,
On that day, that hot July.

But deaf ear turned to fisted hand,
As Redcoats marched across the land.

Invading brothers from across the sea,
Scourged the land which sought liberty.

The silent voices began to sing,
Across our land, "Let Freedom Ring"!

Amidst battles' shot, smoke, and shell,
Many an innocent, along with patriot fell.

Independence and Freedom were not easily obtained,
Only after so many deaths, a courageous victory gained.

So the Red Stripes were put on the flag for the blood,
Spent again and again wherever Liberty stood.

White Stripes were put on for the purity of soul,
That this new nation put forth as a whole.

O'er the years more Stars have been added to that Field of Blue,
But many more of its sons had to die for Freedom to be true.

Many say it's just a piece of cloth on a pole in the air,
They remember not the sacrifices that allowed us to put it there.

For strength comes from the people who live in this land,
The stength that willingly offers others a hand.

So, when the "Stars and Stripes" are raised above,
I get a sensation of humility, of pride, of love.

For the Flag that flies above us so high,
Is one of greatness in strength and dignity.

It flies as a beacon for all to see,
That this is the land of Freedom's Opportunity.

But that Freedom comes with a high price still,
We have paid, and still pay more we will.

And like those heroes of our past,
"Old Glory" beckons us to meet that task.

MY WEEK OFF WORK

MY WEEK OFF WORK

I would go back to the amber waving grain
I long to fly to America again
Oh yes it’s corny I know
To say I love America but it is so
When I look around at the restriction
And these old methods and ways of affliction
In my un-American surrounding
And feel the blood in my head pounding
With anger and held-temper
At the man paid to be my gatekeeper
And when I see the planes on their run
Daily westbound into the sun
And I know, as you do,
That there is no one who
Wouldn’t give his rice bowl wood and hard
Or his party membership card
Or her position as third wife in the tent
Or her work in the kraal, lifelong spent,
To board that moving craft
As a drowner boards a life-raft

Watch her slip the bond unbound
She goes where freedom is found

Prima ballerina now she’ll dance
Gaily gaining speed she’ll start to prance
Leaping up the air will free her swift
Graceful strength not seen but felt in lift
Two wings full spread to soar in pride
Shimmering sheen of pure pearl
Diminishing sight, the freedom girl
Fast bound to America by knots untied.

Strife taught me well

How I fought to justify myself,
my actions and my words
trying to prove that I had reason
to seek vengeance for my hurt.
I felt owed for what was taken,
I felt wronged, broken, forsaken
I seemed forgotten in the course of life
a castaway in slow decay
no certain trail, no destination
going wherever,coming what may.

My battles only wearied me,
scarred my bruised and battered bones,
like victim and offender divided
the war within the enemy

I had to learn to let down my gaurd
to fight the fear that froze my heart,
not to bury myself holding on
to everything that did me me wrong.
To uncover forgiveness and leave behind,
to take not what I would not give,
and everyday to keep in mind
our struggles teach us how to live. .

Entombed

A windowless mansion stands on a no man`s land
In it there`s a dark tomb made by my own hand
Here I`m buried with memories I treasure, here
I`m tormented by sensations of pain and pleasure
Every thought of you is a new brick in the wall
Images of fantasies decorate the haunted hall
I summoned angels, wished they lived with me here
But they turned into demons of jealousy and fear
Such sinister creatures know nothing of charity
The price for my pleasures will be my sanity

The Rising

These damned temptations; they haunt me day and nigh.
Rooted from the deepest depths of hell, where even angels cry.

The unending taunt of which I cannot refuse;
The promising of joy, and yet I continue to lose.

I pray emphatically, for an extraction from these mares;
Just a brief escape from the infinite snares.

I cannot ask for help, for if they know I am shunned,
And yet they look down at me, as if their conscience were stunned.

I have recently found a plan of action however,
And pain it will bring as joy will be severed.

For this joy is false as a loosened saddle;
And the only way out is to head into battle.

Freedom was always calling - A Poet's Prison Memoir

Throughout the years of bars and fences, several things kept me from falling
My Faith in God, My Mom, My Writing...and, that Freedom Was Always Calling
The nightmare started in "93", shipped off to do a second bid
I knew my mother was hurting deeply from all of the pain her silence hid
Downstate was another dagger, the lonely days, the nights, the "Draft"
In times of peace the seagulls shrieking...and, I could have sworn at me they laughed
Then came Green Haven/the pain continued; those forty months in just a cell
Abundant vermin, to live determined...where most Co's were scarred as well
College courses would keep me focused, mixing with others who sought degrees
To be well rounded my reading varied from Og Mandino to Sophocles
All was good, then times grew darker, by "95" my health had waned
Some forsook me while others wondered how my Trust in God remained
On bended knees I prayed this daily..."Not my will be done, but thine"
Then I was showed One set of "Footprints" which I knew could not be mine
Deliverance came, yes things got better; I thought my sorrows were finally gone
Until I left to live in Fishkill, which in truth was Matteawan
Intellectually I was their equal, they had no choice, but to grin and bear it
For, I knew their books, their words, their history...and many things deemed esoteric
Bogus tickets, the box, harassment, they thought I'd fold from all the stress
Still, what would I be if I didn't suffer?...a spineless man who acquiesced
People have asked me how I survived it, a prison life sometimes appalling
I inhaled deeply, and finally told them...That Freedom Was Always Calling

Putin playing Dr. Strangelove

Even America has a role
  some long ago foretold.

Now, Mars seems nice
  better than Earth's ice.

Nations rebuilding their military
  coming invasions look scary.

Even ISIL rapidly popped up
  causing more chaos to erupt.

The world stage is being set

So, who is he

Free Earth for Life

You see, I live in this world that promises my freedom.
I do what I do so I can live in this kingdom.
I pay my bills, do my taxes, and even work over-time
I always pay my rent; never leaving a single dime.
Then one day, it hit me, like a ball to a bat
I was thinking about the world over where I sat.
I pay for water and air as if there wasn't any.
I thought this world had clean free water already.
Big corporate elites stick a price to my liberty;
“You can only live here if you know our history.”
“My land is your land, but you can’t stay here.”
“I’m the boss of my people. I’m the puppeteer.”
I look up to the sky and see my Earth be sold
Like food from a market not even paid for with gold.
We sell sand to the beaches and trees to the land
Nothing is free. We are all marked as a brand.
Yet I go on with my life and have no worry.
I start my day and end it with my eyes all blurry.
I sit down and watch the screen, as I see an ad wiz by:
“Free earth for life. You need to call now and buy.”

Gaily gaining speed she’ll start to prance
Leaping up the air will free her swift
Graceful strength not seen but felt in lift
Two wings full spread to soar in pride
Shimmering sheen of pure pearl
Diminishing sight, the freedom girl
Fast bound to America by knots untied.

Let Freedom Ring

July the Fourth is nearly here,
And we are still fighting to keep freedom in this land we hold so precious and dear.

We can’t drop our guard or look the other way,
We have too many enemies at our gates that are waiting for that day.

God Bless our Troops, and let them know we really care,
Give them respect and honor, for upon their shoulders our freedom they bare.

Maybe someday there can be real peace,
And all violence and crime will desist and cease.

The ones that once held our freedom we now call friend,
Hopefully one day all our fences we can finally mend.

Sometimes I wonder what really goes on in Washington, D.C.,
I think sometimes it’s about their own prestige, and I wonder if they even think about you and me?

Politics has taken on a different meaning than what it was originally set up for,
There seems to be too many little fat and greedy hands in our cookie jar.

This is election year and our pickings are slim,
But if we choose wrong our future may look grim.

Study the choices as best you can,
This sure isn’t the time too elect as our leader the wrong man.

God Bless All, and have a safe and wonderful July Fourth weekend,
And to our troops much love we do send.

anthem

let freedom ring in every thought
for love of country and what it costs
waving strong, red, white and blue
in every heart, the colors wave true

bring me your tired, your hungry, your meek
every immigrant who asylum seeks
from coast to coast this anthem sings
in every heart let freedom ring

I Say Good-Bye

I say good-bye to things of the past,
To things I thought would always last.

I say good-bye to the ashes of home,
Its halls no more for me to roam.

I say good-bye to the kitchen table, where at dinner, we all sat,
And to the living room, where everyone would sit and chat.

I say good-bye to the bedroom, where through many storms I sat,
And listened to the rain on the roof going pitter-pat, pitter-pat, pitter-pat.

I say good-bye as I stand and look,
And realize what the good Lord took.

I say good-bye to the things of old,
And into prayer I go, in my lap, my hands I fold.

I say good-bye to the things I'd lost,
And realize the sacrifice was worth the cost.

I say good-bye to what I see,
And thank God I've still got my family.

I say good-bye and I feel liable,
That the only material survivor was the Hoy Bible.

I say good-bye to the bed, where at night I lay,
And sometimes take a nap during the day.

I say good-bye to the freedom I loved,
The freedom, I'd known.

I say good-bye to the freedom that I harbored,
The freedom that, over the years, had grown.

I say good-bye to the freedom I had known,
To the freedom I had thought was my own.

I say good-bye to the things of old,
To see them no more, or so I'm told.

I say good-bye to the memories so grand,
Taken from me by God's own hand.

I say good-bye to things so beloved, so sweet,
Only the building process, we must repeat.

I say good-bye, and realize there is soil to turn and fields to reap,
There's so much to do, I have but little time to sit and weep.

I say good-bye, and though I'm sad,
I know there'll be no other.

I say good-bye and give you the culprit, or so I hear,
He was my very own, dear brother.
