Washed Away What Easter Means To Me

Friday, I see the wounds and bow my head
I find no peace in the life I've led
There were no victories nor battles won
Oh Father, You gave us Your only Son
Saturday, there is an ache I bear
As I hit my knees in tearful prayer
So many times I've tried and fell
Praying forgiveness, deserving Hell.
Sunday, I cry out from my man made prison
I look to the tomb, but He is Risen
I praise our Lord for this Glorious Day
For all my sins have been washed away

Believe!

Salutations my Brethren, in the name of Jesus Christ, our Saviour!

Though weary from your travels you may be
through Gods' love there is hope for you and me

to save the world He gave His only Son
and through the Cross death lost and life has won!

So to all of you who for salvation pray
take Christ into your hearts this very day

for God so loves us all that He did give
the precious blood of Christ so we could live!

If truly in your hearts you do believe
this gift of lasting life you will recieve!

Go in peace, dear Brethren, and may the Grace of God
follow you all of your days! In Christs' precious name, Amen.

Impossible Task for a Dreamer

Can't write about Christmas or New Years Day, Written just for Paula's
Or Easter or Kwanzaa or any other Holiday. Contest :)

I've written too much about war, about love,
and depression and sex both deserve a shove.

I guess that I could just swallow my pride,
And sneak in a write about suicide'

But Paula don't want these kinds of idolitry,
She wants us to write a poem about poetry.

How do you write about what you never said,
Or the way that words rattle around in your head?

Or how hard those words are to make a pen fashion,
Or how when they're written they seem to lose passion?

O Poem, what can I write about you?
I think until my thinker turns blue,

I come to the end of a poem about poetry,
But it won't rhyme.

First Kiss

A boy moved into our small town, lived just down the way,
His British accent and lovely white smile, just made my day.

He invited me to the Easter dance and bought me a corsage
From beginning to end, the whole scene seemed like a mirage.

I wore a new white and yellow dress my Mom sewed for me,
She placed yellow ribbons in my hair, they matched perfectly.

We walked hand in hand to the dance talking about school,
Meanwhile my stomach was churning trying to stay so cool.

We swayed to Hey Jude, I thought I was in heaven for sure,
Yet scared of what would happen next - was I too immature.

Then the song ended, if there were others there I was unaware,
He moved his hands up my arms and touched my lips with care.

My expectations were high, thought I’d know love right away,
But I felt nothing, my hopes dashed, we broke up the next day.

Legend of Lemuria

Many have heard of a lost continent in the Atlantic
But there are some who believe there was one in the Pacific

Grab hold of time’s clock and switch it back 85 thousand years
Peer through history’s mist, legendary Lemuria appears

Their ancestry is thought to be Asian or Polynesian
Did this evolved culture build the stone heads on Easter Island

If they existed and how they vanished, we can't know for sure
For any artifacts are now lying on the ocean floor

Hostile natives of Atlantis have been blamed for their demise
It’s said religious Lemurians were attacked by surprise

A lesson can be learned, however, as history repeats
Many peaceful cultures have succumbed to militants’ defeats

Those who have spiritual inclinations don’t make weapons
And the death toll continues to rise well into the millions

Men who seek power are always seeking to control our Earth
But on Judgment Day our Lord will decide who has the most worth

Early Spring

*A Collaboration

The snow that shrinks in the glen and the wood
Would gladly stay through the spring if it could.

While clouds have flown to free the sapphire sky,
The liquid snow of winter tumbles by.

It melts into puddles of liquid gold
As the sun's growing warmth exiles the cold.

The warming sun highlights the tips of trees,
Inviting new growth, encouraging bees.

The swaying daffodils are in full bloom,
Yet others sleep in Mother Nature’s womb.

Tiny green buds are peeking from the trees
And big, white blossoms are soon to be seen!

The spring flowers raise their heads to the sun,
Soon to be used for Easter bonnet fun.

*In the order they appear here, these seven couplets were written by: Craig Cornish, Isaiah Zerbst, Heather Ober, David Williams, Jack Horne, Andrea Dietrich, and Seren Roberts. Thanks for participating, guys! :)
