F alling in love with Winter; she’s ice cold dressed in snow white lace
A ll the while dating Summer, who’s still sizzling hot
L ove affairs bruised with revengeful reds, oppressed oranges, and yelling yellows
L eaving Summer with a promise to one day rekindle their love
Mediterranean island, where one finds so much to do
Abundant days of sunshine and the sea is limpid blue
Lavender, thyme and laurel; history spreads in rich galore
The temples, feasts, devotion bring religion to the fore.
Acclaimed for fruit and honey and the fish that’s brought to shore.
This is a friendly nation; you’ll be welcomed by a toast
To the best of health intended to last long while she’s your host.

OVER the years when life doesn't rhyme
TROUBLED friend who's down and out

I will lay it all down to keep you sailing

Dar harbour full of teeming life
A mass of colourful ships and boats
Radiant do your waters gleam
Each wave gently lapping the shore
Sails fluttering in the breeze
Slowly yet violently the yachts jib
As they sail and tack against the wind
Loud blast out the ships horns
As the tugs pilot them to sea or dock
And the gulls screech diving in their wakes
Many colourful dhows sail in to moor
Hot breezes on my face
As midday temperatures soar
Raising our sails we float
Bringing our bows into the wind
Out to sea we are headed
Under full sail we skim the waves
Ready for what ever adventures await

this clip shows the beach we lived near and also others of the harbour I talk of in this poem
Dhows are a native large boat with 3 square sails of highly coloured Material similar to Junk boats / ships
If these winds prevail and those whitecaps stretch
you will soon feel the Bluenose slice the sea;
Need sets our course, but adventure etches
a compass on hearts, sets each drifter free.
Friend, just get your sea legs, fear not the waves.
I'm an ole salt dog, sure ‘nuff, yet this ship,
sailing, schools me still, conditions the brave.
Right as rain, this life, but no fisher slips
behind in duties lest a nor’easter whip.
Like my father and his father a’fore,
a calling I heard, a trade that e’er will
bridge the past to today’s uncertain shore.
Over and over, we cast these nets 'til
troubled brows lower for all onboard dread
water hauls. Damn cod drowsing in deep beds.
I will teach you much, maybe swing the lamp,
Will you try and listen, do pride you stow,
ease your mind for I see those eyes are damp
your young wife, you miss, Lad, aye, this I know.
mind the sails, then, and let us steady go!
About this Poem
The Bluenose was a fishing schooner so iconic of Canada that it is on our dime.
It fished for cod, but was also is renown for winning races.
Waterhauls: a fishing net that catches nothing but water
Swinging the lamp: Telling sea stories. Referring to lamps slung from the deckhead
which swing while at sea.
Steady go: A command to the helmsman to maintain the course carefully.
Blue and wide is the blanket we have spread absorbing the sun's heat,
Enamored as Romeo and Juliet we feel what they felt: an increasing heartbeat;
Anticipating soft touches, followed by ardent kisses until moonlight arrives...
Cuddled as they were, we ignore the glances of everyone taken by surprise.
Hushed words must remain whispers, if we are to satisfy our sensual needs.
Bottles filled with messages are brought in by rolling waves, is ours still unread?
Lovely seagulls gather on splashing rocks, watching a lonely lady who weeps,
Another heartbreak for someone who was happy in life, now completely sad;
Knowing the pain of betrayal, she will learn by error not to trust anyone again.
Enticed by desire, we must roll back onto that soft blanket and revive romance,
Totally unaware of our surroundings, we lose ourselves and become intense;
Beholding what others never do, we know that faithful lovers always win.
There's exceeding joy, an indefinite yearning to explore love in ways so new,
Neither the distant stars nor the close moon refuse to shine on a blanket for two;
Grand as ever is their presence, luminous and breath-taking is their gleam...
Onward they will slowly move, while we still embrace and continue to dream.
Into the foamy froth the mighty waves roll in
Nothing so great as when they crash again
Hell's fury can't equal the blue-green surge
Almost without equal the monster's purge
Life's greatest adventure is found in the sea
Incredible journeys are carved out for me
Not for the comfortable got to want this ride
Going for broke I'm going to chase the tide
The moment is there for the confident soul
Here in this place resides excitement untold
Everyone watches but only a few take hold
See what's coming got to anticipate the wave
Energy's rush.. salt water splash that I crave
Awesome to breathe in, the sea's life to Dave

Circular motion within the blue hue upward,
As bright as the wondrous crystals below,
Reflections glare, shadowing things unheard.
Only at daybreak will we understand its glow.
Until dusk shall you see power, it does hold.
Solar orb of glory, which gives life to all,
Evangelical design drives away natures cold.
Listen you may hear the sizzle of this ball.
From winter to spring, growing closer everyday,
Living creatures await the warmth it brings.
Our hearts and minds, warmed in every way.
As it devours, the frigid cold and nature sings.
Take notice that it still warms us on days of gray.
Igniting passion, delivering precious new beginnings,
Never faltering continuing its carousel of play,
Glowing solar flares proceed above floating wings.
Bountiful castles with walls of sand
Each grain an intricate part
Albatross squawk in high demand
Con morsels from those with soft hearts
Hot bodies bask in the blazing sun
Bikinis boast dangerous curves
Lifeguards patrol tanned to well done
As surfers show off their steel nerves
Nautical transports battle the swells
Kites soar aloft dot the sky
Enveloped in rays and happy kid yells
Transfers to a new level high
Blankets of color protect fragile skin
Immense weight of stress melts away
Nod off gently and try to imagine
Going to work every day
On a beach where work is like play

I’m not blaming you…
Pretend I have not had the
Privilege of hearing those
Lines before. Tell me.
Eternal glare on my
Sunglasses, which I wear at night.
Only an annoyance…
Never to be worried about.
When with you, I feel like
An ice pick could go
Ear and into my brain, and I’d experience a similar
Reaction. I’d like to
Go drink cheap wine and
Lay in the back of my truck, on an old mattress.
Sing anything—as long as it’s
Santana…or soft Slipknot…
Inured of earthen reveries,
Now thoughts unfold of turquoise seas.
Heaving swells kiss morning mist
As dawn’s enlightened warmth assist,
Lifting gray from chartreuse hues,
Imbuing skies with silken blues.
Neon glints enchant the eye,
Gleaning light from algae’s ply.
Textured palettes shine below;
Hallowed reefs of life encased,
Ever housed in sea’s chateau.
Sunset couched in ocean sway,
Ease from mauve to dusk’s embrace;
All my earthbound cares, away.

I went with Inhaling The Sea
Beach balls, umbrellas, shells from the sea
Envision castles in the sand

Catch a wave, a ray for the perfect tan
Hawaii is the destination for all of these

The ocean seems so relaxing when you hear the wave
Healing sounds that can clean a soul and save
Even when the waves brings in an unknown
Dodging the sadness can be shown
And the things become more easy
None will dance with balance so steady
Can a person by the ocean feel free of fright
Embarking conquest with passion that last in the day and night
Out on the beach on the sand we dance on a spot
For we hold our friends and an family a lot
Tricky the waves move with a trance each day
Hardly understandable to what I have to say
Even when the wind pushes the water most
Onto the sand by the ocean cost
Cites that people love to see and use as a passionate source
Even when it the wind blows the ocean waves set a different course
And finely the wave pulls back and forth in a lash
Notes that make music in every ones ear with a splash
Around the corner, the sun will show its new face after A

Instinctively experience rebirth within the fiber of our hearts; yet still Intimidated,
Not having yet forgotten the frozen breath of the dying icy season. But Now
Gratitude moves into the soul from the lessons learned, and we thank God.
Sweetly, we turn our eyes to the heavens above for the blessing of its Smile

The morning sun rolls around
Here, like Tick Tock's on a clock
Even the current of the sea is flowing
Wallowing seagulls in there flock
Only the sea breezes have ever seen
Revealing, the sun begins to rise
Laying upon a sight every one should see
Dynamic rays of shine and Beautiful zodiacal lights
In the Clouds where birds view from the sky heights
Soon I wish to see with my own undying eyes
Endless Beauty and essence
Enchanting Love and harmony highs
Cherish the new born king
Hark the herald and
Ring the toll bells
It's Christmas time again and
Santa is on his way as the
Tinsel is strewn and mistletoes are hung
Mama got caught once again
Alone kissing a guy dressed in red
So I dashed to my window and through open the shutters
Looking upon the roof
Over and over again I somehow now
Vow to remain true in
Even believing in this little Christmas tale of a hymn

Day At The Beach
Beautiful girls go bouncing by
Each suit designed to catch the eye
Ample bodies lean and tanned
Catch rays while lounging on the sand
Heavenly bodies to be sure
Before the young men they demure
Laughing, teasing, acting coy
Attempting to attract a boy
Neath their amber colored glasses
Keeping score as each boy passes
Emotions rising like the tide
Trying seriously to decide
Between the varied beach-boys who
Intentionally show off near you
Never letting on that they
Get giddy when you look their way
Oh if you'd just come out and play
