For the Children

On the brow of manhood I bore you
Dreaming of a successor to my throne
Invested wind and echo full of dew
Native prince, that was ever all I own
Knowledge and experience to make
Wealth out of nothing, like stars do
Aggregating gas into a jewelled lake.

Knowledge with a good head figures
Images that can a kingdom shape
Youth has its dreams, age its rigors
Odinkwa, fears fang the will of escape
Study and apply your art to labor
Honest and committed to vision will
Increase the coffers when love stands still.

So Sriya, onto you now my fiery daughter
Rising where the comet falls still
I pray you will not tremble before the water
Yearning when you have razed the hill
Ancient customs cuddles more than laughter

Years of time against sweet logic tell
Undo the rope the boat will drift
Liberate the bird and its sorrows swell
Innate to love truth is a gift
Sweet lady, that parents give, and court
Singeing wrath for sublime praise
And yet, my love unaltered, holds to port.

Zealous as the wind, you my second girl
Only Pandora was more curious in the world
Yesterday you scared looking at the box
Answerless I stood, below the scraggy rocks

Keeping faith, while you were keeling away
Anxiety driven amidst the cloud of hawks
Matters not that you are sparrow, and the lay
Exultant echoes more worth in humble walks
Kameka, than in clouds to spin and play
Allow me then to invite you to the narrow way.

Anwar, none like you remind me more
Nature is wild and beauty pure, children
Will become the tree of parents seed, core
Analogies to anxieties riven and given
Rush not where the raging rapids churn.

Anwar Amilcar, I named you for heroes
Mentors of my boyhood hungering
Instead, looking parents' dreams as zeros
List your pack with the wild waves sundering
Crystals in lambent light fluttering bright
Against the temple post of blind desire
Ranking ego against the wood of spirit's fire.

Asante, my darling I shall always keep
Some prayer like a candle burning
As angels answering watch your fragile sleep
Nourishing your soul against fate's yearning
Tomorrow will today come to pass
Excellence is more than the image in a glass

Invite the soul to sit among the weak
Necessity has undone more than it has invented
Do not deny the heart its will to speak
Impress of wisdom to defend the tormented
Raise a standard, shelter them and reap
A blessing for their love, a joy to keep.

Thanksgiving Day

Think of how it could have been
how you made it through my friend
all the heart ache that was shared
never alone as your burdens they bared
know that everytime you faltered
someone was kneeling at an altar
giving love the best way they knew
in constant prayer all while you grew
vain were there attempts to keep you down
insecurities as we looked all around
nearer my God to thee was your prayer
give him your love and he'll always be there
Day in and day out be thou my guide
and shelter me from my own pride
you will be my God forever by my side

Your Eyes

 (Dedicated to Folake)

Your eyes, woman
are like twilight rainbow
amorously bearing aloft passions of mine
toward androcytic ecstacy.
They tell of endless lights.

Night skies clarion the warmth of you
keep me balled-up till
i am tilted to your adorned essence.

May I call up words to adore you,
agglomerate them into a panoply of worshippers
unsandalled before you
like Moses at the burning bush.

And now you seem to fall asleep
but you tell me it's the heavy night
bidding toward a sunny dawn
wherein our love is lighted.

Slowly I let you fall asleep
impatient with the long night
waiting to gaze once more
into the eyes of my lovely love.

Then a lip is placed on yours
and you rouse up wide-eyed
smiling at my romantic move.
We enjoyed the night, cruising on.

Prayer

Power of God touches us through prayer

Restores strength to do things the best we can

A time to receive the Holy Spirit that makes us move

Yielding His love as we climb high mountains

Anytime we whisper it

Lift our hearts and follow His will

We run to Him and ask His help

Amazing graces, He will shower upon us

Yokes laid on our shoulders will be overcome

Soon, we can walk over sadness and trials

A Happy New Year Toast

    "A Happy New Year Toast"

Another New Year is traveling around

Happy expectations of wonders profound
Accentuate upon Life's positive things
Promised resolutions to achieve brings
Palatial gardens of kindness with care
Yearning for love and peace everywhere.

Nuture the families and friends so cherished
Embrace all humanity before finality perished
Whisper a prayer unto His Throne of Grace

Yield to the spirit sweet depth to taste
Encourage others with a warm smile
Admire rare beauty of God's great beguile
Radiate happiness whomever is near

Treasure each moment of living so dear
Open hearts and minds and souls
Accept challenges while reaching goals
Share words of love always precious and true
Tenderly touch those so special to you.

Christ Is Risen

Christians offer prayer to
Heavens above,
Realizing their sins are forgiven
Instantly and forever.
Scriptures have recorded this
Transcendent act. His death an
Investiture in mankind. His
Sepulchre a transitory tenement.
Revived by God,
Instantiating His power
So that man may know this
Emanation was
Not accidental.

Humility

Thanksgiving is a holiday needed,
Heaven knows so unheeded,
Allowing us the time to take the time,
Needed in our hurried pace,
Keystone to realms sublime,
So crucial in this race.
Giving God our simple gratitude,
Isn’t too much to ask,
Voiced thanks for our daily food
Is a loving task,
Nevertheless, at times we may forget,
God is Love; we’re in His debt.

Daily thinking about how good we have it,
A grateful prayer could become a habit,
Yea, that day is now.....let's grab it.

Social Scrabble

F ailing to do this is simply detrimental to one’s own health.
O ften it’s done as a very last resort before madness sets in.
R eality dictates that vengeance is venial and vindictive.
G oing forward on an ethical and moral journey towards a more sublime goal
I nvolves practice in this humble virtue as well as others.
V erily it is the key to releasing one’s self from a prison of one’s own making.
E ventually, I’m told, practice of the virtue with prayer makes for a happy life.

Nigeria,

Nigeria, the Soul of my Pride (Part One)
Nigeria, my country, where mournful of pledges aren’t reneged?
Indomitable she would have maintained, if crowns aren’t clowns
Gyrating on the mishaps, wearing wan gumption—unwelcome!
Ears do attend; but eyes haven’t yet seen what watery mouths do speak (of).
Roasting are to rich physiques, as paupers’ plights mount on their rotten.
Innuendoes of yesteryear ‘nattered’, nativities’ woes unforgettable.
Atrophying (now) are the little legacies her founding fathers had raised.

Nigeria my country, where true sons and daughters’ tongues sip in her bounties; sobbing,
Some are endlessly praying and raising their voice to hearings and their words to readings.

If You Think

If You Think...

If you think a love like a mother will exist, there and then
You must have been building castles in the air and thus
Need a medic or an injection to kill that feeling of an outcast-
A shadow of falsehood you’ve been chasing.
Friends like mothers will exist no doubt about that
I'm but particular about if boldly will exist in instant world, where
Sailing through has no backfire or low indignation, where
Right to freedom and possession would not be denied, where
Behind your backs, you would have all sides’ safety
Like the baby in the mother's womb, or the sun in the sky.
A bounty ground, a must be aftermath of the journey on free
Bridge on the cross roads, and lanes, and water, and bushes
Over the mountain; the rock, the valley and the hill, and on the
Troubled memory of liquors, women, demigods and kings of miseries?
Water full of love is only a reservoir for the Creator asides mothers.
I may be viewed as uncivilized or sound barbaric by this logic, but reasons
Will proclaim reality in my tone, stand and modest mood.
“Ease! Be at ease!!” The breeze from the mothers’ bosom’s recollections sway, that
Your mind would seek forgiveness and refuge from her, then the All Forgiver. Then true
Mind will redeem and have the lasting rest of his life, yield to and fulfill mother’s wish.

A New Year's Prayer

Heavenly Father, hear my plea
At your altar on bended knee.
Prayers I offer for those I love,
Prayers to you Lord, up above.
You have seen the mess we've made.
Not the plans that you had laid.
Everywhere there's war and sadness
Where there should be peace and gladness.
You must be disappointed in us all,
Each of us who ignored your call.
All mankind should this year strive
Really hard to keep humanity alive.
Lord please help us do our best
On your behalf, a peaceful quest.
Rid this earth of anger and hate.
Don't let our past dictate our fate.

Every sunrise henceforth gladden
And brighten our gloomiest day
Restoring our hope and trust, Amen!

Promises in Spring

S So swiftly as sunlight pierces a cloudy day, lies the
P Promise that day from night is born
R Resting gently, the golden ray on startled cheek
I Is like a feather from a singing lark
N No lovely thing from Him is ever lost
G Giving faith in tomorrow's renewal, with reverant intent
F For beauty hidden from our sight
A A little while, returns ....and then....
I It lifts with wings and flutters on
T The humble prayer of Easter is not in vain
H His proof of life everlasting, arrives in every spring

I WANT NOTHING FROM LIFE

I want nothing from life..
Just give me a lovely face n make me pretty.
Not for me,it will only increase world’s beauty.

I want nothing from life..
Just give me an everlasting smile on my lips.
Not for me, so that I can give others ever laughing tips.

I want nothing from life..
Just give me, huge courage to hide my tears.
Not for me, so that it’ll never give my closed ones any fear.

I want nothing from life..
Just give me an extraordinary brain.
Not for me, so that others problems, I could drain.

I want nothing from life..
Just give me, a golden heart.
Not for me,so that it’ll be helpful to remove, SELFISHNESS, world’s darkest part.

I want nothing from life..
Just give me,a loving one.
Not for me,so that,I will pour love on everyone.

I want nothing from life..
Just give me, a power of great understanding.
Not for me, so that, crying hearts, for them, can find me,always standing.

I want nothing from life..
Just give me simply PERFECTION.
Not for me obviously, so that the world will find “NOTHING’s PERFECT IN WORLD” theory’s exception.

I really want nothing from life……….

TURKEY AND PUMPKIN PIES

To all wo crave turkey...good appetite and good health!
Utilize your skills in creating charm in a bright dining room.
Round up the best ideas for success, ask if you need help.
Kidding yourself is absurd, get all the help from friends.
Enamor yourself with dinnerware and silverware that match.
Yearn for an athmosphere so warm, cheerful and elegant.
Allow kindness when dealing with kids who spill apple cider.
Nobody should be privileged to say Grace but the host.
Dance afterward with everyone in the decorated living room.
Papa can smoke his cigar, if it doesn't bother the guests.
Unity should be stronger on this day when all thank the Lord.
Major issues about noises, caused by children, should be ignored.
Pretend that Thanksgiving Day is the last one they'll ever see.
Keyboard should play Hymns of thanks, not songs they all like.
Inside the fireplace, the red log crackles reminiscing Thansgivings past.
Nag not when the dog chases the cat under the table...laugh!
Parents should be soft, not harsh...let Thansksgiving be a fun day!
Inside the fireplace the log crackles...reminishing of Thanksgivings past.
Endure the screams and the fights a little longer...no child is an angel.
Say the final prayer of gratitude as everyone bows their heads.

I.
---

Paulette knew he'd love the present and
Excitedly watched as he carefully took the box
And opened the lid to reveal, her heart inside
Crepe paper surrounded it, gently holding an
Echocardiogram of her love for him

Only last month, she was wheeled into the E.R.
Now, the doctors said her prognosis was good

Edward pulled the strip from the crepe nest
And, alternated between it, and Paulette's smile
Realizing that many years of her love lay ahead
To wrap him, full, in life's greatest gift
How could he adequately express his happiness?

II.
---

People oft lose their lighted sight
Each winter solstice that annums around
As days shrink some benevolence cooled
Credit given where credit should not be found
Economy trumps our brotherhood's cards

On the holiday morning, when all is spread
Near tree, menorah, prayer rug, symbol iconic

Equal time, regarding the desolate neighbor
As joys of family and friends ring the room
Reaching inside ourselves can we reach
To express the love our God implores
Helping to remember, peace on Earth

III.
---

Pomegranates and oranges sluice sweet tang
Even as members gather and sleepily greet
Adults sit, small children excitedly flit about
Carefully examining tags, boxes and stockings
Eagerly they plead with eyes for permission

Once you were that young too...that magical
Now you point and sip tea or coffee, and smile

Every generation brings its own traditions
As a talisman to the next's memories to come
Rife with sentiment, are day's mellow memories
To ancient minds in some far future times
Hardly believing that all those years transpired

Lord, I Believe, But -

word acrostic

LORD, your mission I long to fulfill.
I know at times I hinder Your grace.
BELIEVE, You plead. -- I believe until
HELP is put on hold and doubts displace
THOU, God, the one Master of my will
MY deepest need is strength to erase
UNBELIEF -- to wait patiently still.

Our Savior, our LORD, our Surety
It is with joy that I claim You’re mine;
When I fail to BELIEVE, security
questions your HELP and asks for a sign.
How distant art THOU in obscurity.
In your presence, MY faith I refine
and break off UNBELIEF – impurity.

Jesus Christ, our unchanging LORD
totally pardons me I know. Once I
made the initial choice to BELIEVE,
He’s always been nearby to HELP.
Reprove me, Holy Comforter, THOU
alone convict of my ingratitude - MY
self-seeking pride, alas UNBELIEF.

INDEPENDENCE

Independence suffices by will and dream a upright rise
Nurturing inspiration like morning blessings to produce
Developments in which the industrious share. Let's prize
Emancipation of genius that from work begs not truce!
People stand empowered now, be united so to achieve
Excellence: execute this effectively for love's a strategy.
National industry towers where each man may conceive
Duty as his share. Vision and sweat makes all history,
Economy makes the satisfied. Motivated in every stride,
Nothing denies the power of dream. Each survival shows
Competence, in moral honor, economic skill, these abide
Eternally repositioning the sail, catching what fate throws.
                                 ii
Now I shall stand alone, walk alone
And sing a song all my own.
For I am man, I'm the child now grown
The eagle flown, I'll conquer a new zone.

I shall climb stairs of sky to hunt earth
Hurtling down to rise with food
And feed myself and unfeathered brood
Flexing cool against each cloud with mirth

I am independent, I am man
Thinker, worker, giver, proud
I shall not be deterred by raincloud
Or shadow shrouding a figured sand.

I am independent, I am dream
Transformed to vision. I thrown
From nest found strength of wing to astound
Prey and prayer where sharp talons gleam.

I am independent, I mark sun
For map of home, and command
The enterprise of measureless land
Where in flight and battle I have won

I take my independence with more
Than age, or wisdom of time
I own. Immersed in all spheres sublime
I feed my full and still bring to store

The wealth strewn in life's unguarded frame
From that I make better blood
Each heart for its own, the once chewed cud
Children alone will feed the twice claimed

I seek added value, fresh as day
A constant new of old schemes
I am independent, bright with dreams
Mind and muscle in rule of the fray.

The names of God

Each secret name of God, given to
Mankind for protection:
Angels descend on the wings of syllables,
Nothing can be more powerful over spiritual warfare than
Uttering His Holy names with deep veneration;
Enough to invite the rays of the New Sun, that's ready to
Lift the World to the heights of Heaven.

Stay Humble

Stay humble, my friend for trouble lasts for a while.
This life horrors us with many tests and trials.
Alone you may think you are, but don't fret.
Your enemies will soon be your footstool.

Honesty, courtesy, and prayer are are some components of humility.
Understanding yourself as well as others also plays a part.
Memorize these instructions, which are a good tool.
Be kind and wise, observant strong and quiet, too.
Learning and living by the of God is the best facility and
Example for yourself and the rest to be and to stay in the act of humility.

GREEN GRASS

as i sit here in the deps of
the green grass
trying so hard not to laugh
i find my happy days there
some sad ,theres nothing but a tear

this green grass has so
many secrets that i ve told so many time before
i cant just tell my feeling ,so i let them all go
i think to myself maybe somewhere out there theres hope

green grass
green grass
here my prayer
sometimes i sit there
and all i can hear is a whisper
from the grate down deps of green
grass mystical

green grass as i sit here in the deps of
the green grass
trying so hard not to laugh
i find my happy days there
some sad ,theres nothing but a tear

green grass
has become my friend
and all that we have
i give my thanks to green grass
for listing to my tears,my cheers
my dreams,my fears
my hopes

i know the story was long and slow
but thanks green grass you gave me hope

Into My Own

Keep me away far from this harsh city life,
Away from non-stop noise and all the strife;
Lights from dazzling neons make me dizzy,
Enough of this rat race, I’m sick of this reality!

Into my own I retreat, into myself I will escape,
Doldrums and urban worries I cannot keep;
Onto the farm amongst the sky and the trees
So in silent prayer I'll drop down on my knees.

Come with me, my beloved, let me take you
Out of the blaring sounds of pulsating disco;
Pastoral life awaits us there in the country,
Ethereal beauty is all that we will ever see.

12:15 A.M.

Through the days, it's as if i'm standing a thousand miles,
away, up on the hill tops looking down on the shattered ones,
the forgotten ones,
gasping their final breath for an outcome that will always be the same.
These scattered ashes in the wind are all carried by a prayer long ago,
far away, from Sundays best.
A thousand knees at the alter,
one thousand hearts crossed in prayer,
and to this day we all have crosses to bear.
So for this outcome that revolves in the same,
we must cry out to the lord, and confess our pain...
Only then may we exhale.
