Y.O.U.
What are you to me?
The whiff of cheap cigarette smoke;
Like burnt toast on the balmy air
A mass of silken ebony;
Your age-defying hair
A skin both gold and ivory pale;
A map of the life you’ve led
A warm glow in the pit of my belly
The fire that you’ve fed
Two clasped palms in a loving squeeze
The press of moist pink lips
Your sweet breath on my face like an ocean breeze
A shiver beneath my fingertips
The feeling of belonging wherever you may go
A sanctuary in the form of a small & modest man
Fidelity just as pure as winter’s driven snow
The constant reassurance that I can, I can, I can…
I can be the girl that you deserve
I can make you smile
We can be together forever
Forever…and a mile
