Gift of Love

Sometimes the worst of things, will split the world wide open No notice of a holiday, it can shake us 'til we're broken... Like a box of glass, we're left the task to pick through shards of "then" to see if there is one, small thing, to glue back "what had been" Impossible, we found instead, it was far too much to ask. What came crashing like a meteor, had crushed our yuletide cheer It stared us in the face, but only left despair Our spirit for a season, drew clouds, instead of grace Bereft of joy ....What was left, to us..was barren, not a trace But the gift of friendship, came to our door, in the coldest darkest hour It came to lift us up, gave us strength, and gave us power Tragedy, once knocked us down, when we were least expecting So numb we were, from shock and grief, and empty tears would spring The joy we knew, had always known, was here, but then, was gone The plans we made, were swept away, how could we carry on? But friends were there, to bring a smile, to make us laugh, to fix a meal A modest tree, came all adorned, by loving hands, a wreath and more So pillow soft, warm arms were there, they gave us time, to heal And looking back, I see it now, the greatest gift I know the best of gifts, in the worst of times, does not come wrapped in bows

The most important gifts are, as you say, bowless. And you've said it in such an elegant way. Also, thank you for your Well Wishes on my “Southern Christmas” blog. Having posted it so late I was not expecting any responses, so am overwhelmed. Another gift that further buoyed my Festive Season, Scott
