Villanelle: the Dilemma of the Non-Violent - 36

Villanelle: The Dilemma of the Non-Violent – 36 Blame not the man whose mind is not his own From birth to death he’ll do what he’s told Must he not those who’re not his kind disown Does the killer kill what to him is unknown When does he decide when When he makes bold Blame not the man whose mind is not his own Do those who are killed kill in the Unknown Killer who killed Who cast him in mind mould Must he not those who’re not his kind disown Who does the killer kill if not his own Who’s the real killer Can it be told Blame not the man whose mind is not his own The mind that’s massaged from birth makes no moan Neither those who kill by proxy for gold Must he not those who’re not his kind disown When each god must swallow words not his own How might those bred into belief take hold Blame not the man whose mind is not his own Must he not those who’re not his kind disown © T.
