Vicious Circle

Self pity is my pillow One piece of human emotion To prove I'm still alive Heavy medication veils the sun Montionless throughout daytime tv Ween out of it around five When darkness has fallen I am able to see It brings with it the familiar paranoia That somehow helps to set me free Weigh myself Against yesterdays decline An extra few pounds snares perfection It can't can't be mine....

awwwww Jo we all learn to love "warts and all" or we don't and we live a life of misery. Look for beauty and you'll find it, if only in a caring heart. Light & Love Debbie

You are not alone, I have bouts with these feelings, but I am doing much better now. Sometimes the daily burdens are heavy but with God's love, and strength things get much better. I have found if you find something to do it will take your mind off things, I am now trying to raise money for an organization that helps people on drugs, and alcohol....I am glad you found the Soup, new friends are a blessing...always, Christy

Jo, it won't take you long to find your way around on poetrysoup. There are a lot of supportive peope here. This is a lovely verse! Indeed, self pity s the pillow many poets share. But you made me grin in the last stanza, "Weigh myself...an extra few pounds snares perfection." Oh, to give up dieting and be thin for life. It's also interesting how paranoia sets you free. It's nice to make a new friend, Carolyn
