Vanished, the Warrior In My Blood

Vanished, The Warrior In My Blood What has happened to the warrior in my blood when did he vanish into this red clay mud? O' the pains I've taken to keep in me the fight and whiskey given up, to keep my sharp eyesight. What has happened to the power in this man when he feels tired and hopes for no stand. O' the heartache that cuts so damn deep and sad tears splattering, when I now weep. What has happened to fierce fight in my soul when sleeping late is now my cherished goal. O' the misery in finding my courage gone and great depths in feeling, so damn alone. What has happened to young spirit I once had and to raw anger that once made me so bad? Robert J. Lindley, 12-14-2016 NOTE, INSPIRED BY LISTENING TO TOM PETTY'S SONG A FEW MINUTES AGO, TITLED, " I Won't Back Down"...

A truly great poem, Robert. Seeing how my pseudonym is Romantic Warrior, I can fully relate to this moving poem, particularly the last stanza. I am an old lion now, approaching sixty, so I feel the vibe of this poem oh so well. Excellent piece of art, it's as if your pen pricked my very soul. Love this poem immensely. Love and peace this holiday to you.
