To Those Who Woo'D

Oh my friend I never saw in your many cards so written in all the dances when we were close to know that you were smitten as I look into my past and those who would me woo with the many letters here I could not see you Never once did I respond to words that showed you care though because I was afriad and ne'er my heart to share I apologize for being blind to the world did I surrender and to you for being kind and kindness did not I render As often times I think of you and what life may have brought Mayhaps if you had spoken true and not kept in your thoughts perhaps had you seen mine eyes and the anguish dwelling there who always saw the words as lies my judgement wasn't fair Now I can see the tenderness the gently wooing you and the effort you had strived to make me see it too I carry guilt for pains I caused with scales mine eyes were closed like water in a fingers grasp Mine heart in still repose More than twenty years have passed I've had no time to think to consider how you felt till I could put to ink the endless refusing of even a few who deeply showed their care To you all I apologize in future amends I swear COPYRIGHT © 2009 C.
