To Find a Prince
I don’t remember how or where we met,
but he was older, and his car was cool.
Each day he’d drive up to my house to get
me in his awesome Fiat before school.
He brought me flowers and was very sweet,
and so I guessed that kissing soon would follow.
One night inside his room, our lips would meet.
His mouth was full of spit. Could he not swallow?
This drooling mouth moved over mine. It seemed
as though a slimy toad sucked up my face.
Not anything at all like I had dreamed!
I couldn’t wait to get out of that place.
Ironically, we lasted through the summer.
To find a prince, you must kiss frogs. Life's bummer!
