'tis the Season To Be Jolly

Another year is nearly finished with, And carol singers knock, or ring my bell; I sit in darkness, telly turned down low - I’ll keep my quid (my cat could sing as well). It’s cold outside and heating costs a mint, But people hope for even colder snow; I hate the winter weather - ice is worst: A broken leg’s no joke, that’s all I know. I dread the thought of sprouts at Christmas lunch; All festive foodstuffs disagree with me. And writing cards is just a dreaded chore - Like sweeping needles dropping from the tree. But ‘tis the season to be jolly now; And even Scrooge had learnt to find it fun - I’ll force a smile and wear a paper hat, And mutter, ‘Merry Christmas, everyone.’ *I love Xmas, but I know plenty who don't, lol For Francine's Christmas Dinner contest, written 25th November

Jack, are you borrowing lines from your own life and how you felt when you were "out of commission" with your injury? This was so clever. Can't believe I didn't see it till now. I better go see what else of yours I may have missed lately. Congrats on y our win.

What a fabulous and wondrous write my friend! I really enjoyed reading your immensely fun and delightful poem this evening! I too love Christmas but there are times when it can be a pain in the butt! We just have to remember the reason for the season and we'll all be alright :) Your poem brought a smile to my face while I was reading it and especially after I had finished it! Perfect entry into Francine's contest, I love it my good friend, Great Work!!

Yes, it's time to be jolly. It only comes once a year! Just the mood and the festivity, I love it. And the shopping. Can't forget that. Love your poem, Jack. Glad you love Christmas too.
