Thunder, Thunder

The fierceness The violent nature It came and stayed As we tried to sleep Yet beauty surrounded As music was played Upon the windows and roof The sound, there, to keep The girls had awakened The dog had cried out It was 3 in the morning Sleep? I was without For the lightning, the thunder With no intention at all Had given my family An early wake up call So now 4 in my bed I was hanging from the side The thunder rolled on My children, they cried The dog was a shiver My wife, damn, was asleep I had a 9 a.m. meeting I was hoping to keep Before I had known it We drifted to dreams Away from the rainstorm And the sound of kid’s screams
