The War

It was cold outside and we were all dressed up we danced in the streets cause we were madly in love he took my hand and held me tight kissed me and hugged me and came to my house every night one summer i had to go away from this town that i have always called home it killed me to say my goodbye but he wrote me a letter everyday that went by Finally i returned and it was a surprise he held me and didn't let me out of his sight he always loved me and he always will he let me know everyday that our love was for real War broke out and he had to go because of those German and there Uboats he said to me that he would come back for he couldn't leave this world without me in his arms and then we went and i feared he would never return he wrote me everyday that he was gone he told me that the fighting was real strong but our love he felt even miles away he knew he would be back to see my smiling face The Last letter i got from him was full of memories for he knew his own fate on that morning in the trenches at three he reminded me of all those good times at the lake and picnics in the woods and how we would stay out real late but at the end of the letter i started to cry for the letter got sloppy and then i knew why he wrote that he wont make it through the night but he will wait for me in the heaven's sky The War has now taken my love's life
