The Universal Symbol

The peace sign is a symbol universally recognized and venerated; to some it means sacrificial death, to others gentle love instead... shouldn't, its creator Gerard Holtom, have drown it with arms up instead of arms down...didn't the ancient signs influence him a lot? Whichever is the interpretation of this sign, we all recognize it as love besides peace; during the Vietnam War the fanatic hippies used it to protest the deaths of young men. From the day of its creation, when angered crowds protested in line, it has become the icon of an Humanity that wants an end to all wars and turmoil... then shouldn't it resemble the upward branches of a tree bristling over unspoiled soil, or a teary, lonely child reaching out for arms to make his face shine?
