The Question
You asked me if I love you
And my answer lies in more than words
There are many things that I could say
But would you be content with what you heard
I have been there through your darkest days,
I've held you when you cried
And anything you asked of me
Would never be denied
The charity within your heart
I have witnessed through the years
I have witnessed how the children love you,
Like a magnet you draw them near.
I surprise you with little treasured gifts
Just to watch your smile light up my day,
And when you get discouraged
I encourage you that you will see so many better days
When you are lying in my arms
And your heart beats next to mine
I smile at how much God has blessed me,
To share a life with someone so fine.
If you are unsure of my love for you
And these words are not enough to say
Then my actions as we grow together
Will show a love that's here to stay.
