The Gambler

The Gambler… The Gambler… I asked my mother, she didn’t hear. I asked my father; he was in fear. I asked my teacher, he didn’t know; he turned toward me, ready to blow. I ask some questions and wonder why. What happens to us when we all die? What happens to grapes when become wine? All sweet and lovely, heavenly fine. What happens within a dark black cloud? Shouting and laughing thundering loud! What is the meaning of life as is? Learning to lose, and losing it is! Life is a gamble with no winning hand. Sooner or later, losing demand. Hope to have a chance for one more game; losing and losing no one to blame. We take chances, sometimes with an Ace! Nothing is certain but lose with grace. Another chance, with another glance; wishful and happy, ready to dance. No matter aces, no matter kings; all of us losers, even the kings. Haloo 6/2014

Very well penned Pashang, life is definitely a gamble and we have to hope we are dealt some decent ace cards during out life journey but we know one day we are going to have to fold. Take care my friend:-) hugs Jan xx

Hi Pashang, life is a game. We play the hand we are dealt, the hand changing as we go along our time line, we win, we lose. We keep going forward, so many questions we ask of ourselves and our world, we are in search of answers. As long as i seek the answers i shall go on. The answer to the greatest question is still to come and i look forward to gaining that answer. An excellent write Pashang. Search out with the heart, the Soul, the mind. A seven heading for you. Have a good day....Vlad.

Hi Vlad, in a game of life, we're all losers, the only positive accepts of this game is to have another opportunity to play again and lose again.... Life is a gamble no winning hand. Sooner or later, losing demand..... pashang

I prefer to feel we all have a winning hand...... No pain, no gain. This excellent poem again shows that it is all in the mind and we only reach development by continually seeking answers to our questions. But as you said in a reply to another, seek with your heart as well as your head.... Ivor

By the way Ivor, this style is "masnavi" very similar to your style. It is a couplet with the spiritual and philosophical message with the same meter in each line. Pashang

Thanks Ivor, I inspired to write the gambler because of the teaching of "Rumi" (https://www.goodreads.com/author/quotes/875661.Rumi) He believed that we humans are in a game, a gambling game, and ultimately we are going to lose. We just seek opportunities (hands) to play one more and to lose one more.. ... Pashang
