The Forest Never Sleeps.

Sitting in the forest hidden from the sun I feel the earth tremble by deer on the run Leaves flutter in a gentle breeze as along the narrow path the running deer speed then freeze in utter consternation as they glance in my direction Eyes wide with fear for to them a strange being in the forest is rare. They stare for a moment then move on again afraid for their safety in their own domain Birds hop from branch to branch the owl sits alone in a trance yet frowns upon all who dare to move disturbing the stillness.... changing the mood. Breeze whistle through the trees cooling the brow.... chilling the knees Sunset pierce the darkening forest with a red but mellow light as it prepares once more to turn in for the night Such a brief but glorious sight. Darkness is now complete yet I hear the patter of little feet I hear too the heart of the forest beat and I know the forest is alive I know too.....the forest never sleeps.
