Field Of Dreams

The clay gives way to rich and poor, A life dictates through which door, To soar the skies a longed for quest, Or the burning fires, the Devil's guest. Forged the hearts above steely grass, A life of choice grants heavens pass, To steal the Devil of another man's soul, The stars aligned to reach his goals. As aged the stars that fall from grace, Of silhouette shadows a lonely space, Those marbled stones now overgrown, Where life's flightless breath has flown. In fields of dreams where all men pray, Below the earth this solemn clay, Where bedded down like trees to grow, To dream a life he'll never know.

great title for your poem, Daniel. Ah, to dream a life he'll never know...sad and poignant words!! I liked your imagery and especially liked "As aged the stars that fall from grace, Of silhouette shadows a lonely space, Those marbled stones now overgrown, Where life's flightless breath has flown. "Flightless breath" was an excellent image. I do so like and respect your poetic style. Have a great weekend, Sara
