The 9-11 Museum

A pair of shoes, all scuffed and worn, A watch whose time is frozen, A red bandana, all among The objects that were chosen And then encased so we could read Their stories and remember Exactly how things were That awful morning that September. Today, a dedication held, With speeches and reflections, Ensuring that we’d all look back At our own recollections. For most of us, the memory’s raw And tinged with such emotion, Each image conjures tears enough, Combined, to fill an ocean. The doors will open up next week; The crowds will visit, flocking To feel a bit of what will never Cease to be so shocking.

We did not go in the museum, but I'm sure glad we got to see the memorial. An aside — I was always told how rude New Yorkers were. I sure didn't experience this during our visit. Oh, better make sure — if none of these comments make sense, make sure you read my reply to your recent comment on my silly poem. cheers ~ j

I remember that day very well staring in disbelief as I watched the News as it came in and seeing the second tower hit. What an atrocity those poor people on the plane with the knowledge they were going to die. How awful. Thank you for sharing this poem Ilene. Andy

It seems this event causes the heart to feel a deeper pain about it every time we are reminded. I think it speaks to the amount of how shocking an event this was. We're continually getting over the shock of it. Thanks for the tribute. Well said. :) Peace.

good one. I did not know about this until this morning I caught Obama on the news telling a story of a guy in a red bandana who led so many to safety but was killed in a tower. So sad!!

A beautiful tribute, That was a very shocking day indeed, and its lovely to see such a lovely memorial poem written. I have to disagree it wasn't the worst to hit the civilized world, it was the one that hit home to many for the first time, its why its so important we never forget history. God bless all those who suffered from this event.

I remember going out into my back yard that night. It was so calm and silent nothing was moving in the skies above and you could hear a pin drop...A lovely tribute they have put on display...hugs Tim
