Beware the Bayou

black-water canals where alligators patrol and moccasins wait where starved mosquitoes invade in hoards at twilight thirsty for fresh blood at morning's first light dawn illuminates cypress birds announce sunrise perilous beauty on display in the Wetlands and all is at peace

Hello, Tim..i noticed while looking at your poetry list you where gone for a long time. I for one am glad to see you here again. I see your name around, i read your poems, if i don't comment as much it because I'm just a silly girl (37) to some poets. And out of respect I comment a little and say hi. I think i remember that picture from a place called the poetry pub with John Robbins.. It is very nice to meet you again... (haikus are my favorite form of poetry) I don't know why? I'm glad here in Texas, we don't have bayou's. No need to worry about them moccasins, Oi~ But, them mosquitoes are hunters through out our dry grass and forest. I'm leaving with one last thought * Howdy neighbor!

Exactly the way it is there, Tim. You have captured that ambiane so clearly. Sensational Haiku. Re my sonnet ' A cup of Bitterness', This poem was written about an 81 year old women who, with tears in her eyes, poured her bitterness of lost love out to me after I read her my poem 'Violin' at a book signing event. Guess this could describe either Louisiana or Mississippi, Tim. Actually, even Florida has the monster mosquitos, gators, swamps and wetlands. But it's been a long time since I've seen many cypress trees. They seem to be disappearing. Really enjoyed the imagery in your outstanding haiku series! Love, Carolyn
