Our circle now is broken, small...
from twelve to eight we are, that' all.
Not long ago, some went away,
and now we weep in sad dismay.
Three women with their spouses gone,
alone, they try to carry on.
One man, now ill, left home to be
with family...too far to see.
We look around, which one is next?
For, at our age, it is complex...
one day you're well, and then are told,
your living is somehow on hold.
Beyond our circle, others fall;
too oft, the paper says it all.
A broken classmate or old friend
was called to heaven...met life's end.
So drowned in tears we are these days;
the dark clouds linger 'neath sun rays.
Our broken hearts are filled with pain
beside these gravesites in the rain.
