Slipping Away----Sonnet

The first days of the much-awaited spring Arrive on time along with birds and flowers. Then come the balmy days of May and June When love and laughter fill the warming hours. I watch the hot July days slide away, See summer slipping down the calendar. The sun will shine in August, I am sure, Can only hope the same in fall’s September. October will have cold days with the warm November can be fretful and forlorn. We’ll have three months of winter then for sure Before the gifts of March’s spring are born. Spring, summer, fall of my long, life are gone. Only cold winter left to carry on. Sonnet form

I may be in the summer of my life, but winter will come soon enough and I hope I have our spirit to see me through the later years. You are an inspiration to me Joyce. Best to you, Diane

A magnificent sonnet, Joyce. I have been thinking along the same lines lately, but am resigned to accept winter as part of life's natural cycle. Best wishes in John Heck's contest, dear. Love, Carolyn

HI, Joyce, wow, you entered a sonnet for the contest. Maybe I am going to see more of them than I thought. You have great flow with this sweet seasonal poem. I noticed this same title appeared twice on your page of poems. That has happened to me in the past too. I wonder if you did the Spencerian sonnet yet.Let me go see!!

so i was told. and you express it very well here. i feel the need to remind you that once a seed dies it is born again. to suffer youth once again. and love alover, and growing old a thousand times over. to collect the wisdom of the ages. T. S.

Well done, I wish we could condense all the winter months into one short line as in poetry.
