Sign Language For Love

I got a sweet text yesterday That brought a tear to my eye It was from my 18 year old And it almost made me cry She somehow had remembered Everytime she’d perform up front The violin or some school play For our faces her eyes would hunt And when she would spot us out there I’d make sure I would catch her eye Then I’d quickly sign, “I love you” Giving her courage to really try As I stared down at my phone I thanked God for this daughter of mine How after all of these years She remembered that little sign As a parent I’ve made mistakes Done some things I wish I'd forget Now that she is so far from home My heart just fills up with regret But in her message short and sweet There was love written in each line I thank God that He’s gifted me With a precious daughter so fine. Parents, the small things that you do May not seem like such a big deal But when each sign bears your love Your child’s heart you’re sure to steal When the years have all sped away And you remember that sweet smile I hope a text will assure you That each effort has been worthwhile Eileen Manassian Ghali

Well isn't that about the nicest thing anyone has said to me! :) Thanks ever so much Caleb! Right back at ya! Though...sweetness isn't a really macho thing...especially with that avatar of yours! ;)

This was beyond sweet. I know nothing of this topic, still being the child of the family. However I don't believe endearments can be overdone or over-said. And the greatest thing a child and/or parent to admit is - I'm not always in the right, and must listen to each side of the story. Wonderful job on this... I appreciated the story and the message.

Thanks ever so much Timothy. Having a child is the closest we will ever get to understanding the unconditional love of God towards us. You will love the experience....believe me. Thanks for the encouraging comment.

Eileen, my daughter is the most precious person to my heart. I love everything about her. and boy does she love text-ing me!!!! I remember all her school graduations. The kinder to first, 5th grade to 6th and so on. And now recently, my daughter and I are bonding like never before. Just the other day, I looked at her cute little face, and she took me away to that place, Where only mommies know of. I am in pain with her. And still she manages to hold my hand and thank me for all the efforts in my life. She is a sweet smile that came a long way. One of the biggest gift of life is knowing the sign language in one simple smile. a nice text message you received... always~ LINDA

Oh my dear! Thanks for sharing your heart with me. I am so honored to hear about your life. Yes, my daughter has my heart wrapped around her finger. I only have one child, and part of that was because I never wanted my child to feel envious of a sibling. Perhaps that was wrong, but I'm blessed to have a beautiful daughter whom I adore. Glad your relationship with yours is strong and vital. Hugs!

It's always about the simple, yet capturing moments. A beautiful reminder to show how far a parent has come and what it was all worth. Touching lines...
