In the plains of Africa another elephant corpse is found,
Despite a ban on trade for ivory since 1989 there is poaching;
Tens of thousands of elephants are brutally killed each year,
Their majestic tusks used to make ornaments and jewelry.
Weak law enforcement and corruption allows this to continue,
The desire for ivory is as big today as it ever was in the past;
Hunters using rifles aim for the brain of helpless elephants,
And all they want are the tusks having no use for the body.
So in the plains the majestic elephant becomes part of the earth,
And just as disgusting to me are the despicable trophy hunters.
