Self-Checkout

In many local chain stores, The cashier is now passé. You check out by yourself whenever You’re prepared to pay. You scan each item one by one; The codes reveal the price And if you have a coupon, It’s accepted – very nice! If you need help, a store employee’s Waiting in the wings And when you’re done, some bags await For you to pack your things. At first I wasn’t thrilled about The whole self-checkout plan, But since it seems to speed things up, I’m now a loyal fan.

Check yourself now has new meaning. It's not about being demeaning. But rather not being too proud. To do it yourself to beat the crowd. So glad to read your new insight. That your poetic words bring into light.

i used to feel that way, jan, and i still use them only in the chain pharmacies but i do agree that they are taking jobs away from people, which is a shame. they do make the checkout much faster, though. thanks for reading...
