Scared, Lonely Stare
Are we all too busy?
Are we all too scared?
We see someone in need
And then convince ourselves we've misread!
Do we walk on by as someone sits in the cold to cry?
Are we so self consumed that we don't see someone facing doom?
Are we just for us?
Nothing matters no more unless it offers some kind of door
To satisfy our lust - we just can't get enough!
Do we take a step back, walk off the track?
To offer a helping hand when we see real despair
Can we take a step back?
Or is the 'I'm alright Jack' attitude a way
To get through the day
without using our minds to offer or just be kind
Head always down on the phone, social media frown
Something got lost along the way when electronic words are all we say
Do we stand by strangers in need?
Do we nurse them as they bleed?
Do we spend our money so they feed?
Or are we all too scared to step out of this life that we're force fed?
To help someone on their knees who's lost all of their dreams
Face up to world that does not care about the scared lonely stares
It's dog eat dog out there, I know, I've been out there, I've seen out there
But we are humans and we should care when we see a scared, lonely stare.
