Robin Hood - Contest
Robin Hood was bored this day
Heard the sheriff was passing his way
Collecting taxes from the poor
Many would be starving but they knew the score
Pay up and shut up, would listen to no pleas
Robin hid his merry men amongst the trees
The mighty sheriff he would tease
Put a rope across the pathway
Now was the sheriff's time to pay
Shh I hear the horses coming
Marian laid down as though she was sunning
The sheriff reigned his horse in fast
Nearly running over the comely lass
Robin's maid thinks he, his chance at last
"Why sheriff", she said her eyes a twinkling
"How can I rise from here was thinking"
Down jumped the sheriff dismissing his men
Naughty thoughts he was thinking then
Took off his jacket his pants were to follow
When he heard a noise from the hollow
Was Robin tittering the sight too hard to swallow
The sheriff showing his pale white thighs
Brought tears of laughter to his eyes
The sheriff was aroused by his demise
Before looking up into Robin's eyes
Grabbed for his sword but was on the ground
Woods ringing of laughter all around
Sheriff knowing he looked like a clown
Out came the merry men the sight to see
A sheriff looking embarrassed needing a wee
"What do you want Robin" he said at last
"Return without any money, this year No Tax".
He had to agree no option to take
So back to Nottingham the king to face
Swearing his men to secrecy said "no tax at this place".
Form rhyme royal. Two couplets and a tercet.
