Reuben For Xmas

From the streets of San Francisco in 1984 There came a stranger knocking on our door He was known by all in the neighborhood His name was Reuben, and he wanted food Reuben kept coming by, day after day He was always hungry with not much to say He was dirty, smelly, and tough to be around He was tall, thin, and could use a few pounds The Christmas Season was fast approaching Everybody got busy shopping and rushing Reuben spent his Christmas alone and cold We decided this year to play a special role On Christmas Day, Reuben sat with our family We all ate and shared our gifts most happily Written112406. Curtis, thank you so much for your poem submission to the contest along with a big congratulations on your high placing win! Your memory of Reuben and your beautiful sharing of Christmas dinner, along with all the blessings your family shared with him captured the essence of what Christ mas is all about, the act of love in action. May God bless you in the coming new year with happy memories, good health and much joy. Again, thank you for sharing this poem!
