Rather Small

Although it’s neither here or there I do love the mountain air Fresh and crisp with its own bite The river flows through the blanket of white It’s all in life that is pure and clean The river sparkles with it’s own sheen Up here in the air that is lighter than light I open my soul through the words I write Through my words I write out a show For those who have never seen the snow Every breath you take is like a dream With eyes amazed at the beauty they have seen You close your eyes to process it all And realize we are rather small

This poem transported me back to my last visit (in 2005) to my motherland when I was fortunate enough to spend a week in the Alps. Growing up in the south, we rarely saw snow and it is truly a beautiful thing: the pure, clean whiteness and the crisp cold air. My Swiss cousins think I am NUTS for traveling there in winter; to them the snow is dreary and a nuisance. To me, each flake is a miracle. Thanks for carrying me back to that wonderful time with your well-chosen words. ~Danielle

There is a lot of thought in this poem, I can almost smell the cold air, and the you make me want to be at this place you describe beautifully. This is a wonderful poem, and you had put a very detailed image in my mind, thanks for a great write, I enjoyed it. ~John
