Perfidy

You may as well have said that you charged fees I knew it was too good to have been true. Envy the wise that knows you’re false with ease, Pity the fool that finds their love in you. When we first met you told a lie to me You won my smile, my heart, my love and mind. You led me on till I was caught with thee I was a dove that flew so lost and blind. And when you told me that you had a love You spoke with out concern for how I’d feel. My eyes rose up towards the sky above To halt my tears’ descent and soul revealed. If you close your eyelids you seem alone The truth is that you’re never on your own.
