Written for Poem in Paradise Contest

~ Awarded 4th Place in Contest~

Many many years have passed by She sits alone and reminisces Reading the diary from when they first met Recalling the memories from so long ago She remembers back to her wedding day Orange blossoms intertwined in her hair Sweet scented gardenias in her bouquet Her handsome groom standing at the alter How she would love to go back To those halcyon days gone by When her husband was still alive Not just a memory in her mind's eye He fought for king and country To give others a better life Now he resides in paradise And in the heart of his lonely wife Submitted to J Contest Sponsored by Constance La France 07~19~14

Many a lonely heart has suffered this kind of pain, Jan. To fight for King and country is a right. An honor. I don't know if this is a true account, but it matters not, what matters is your vision which caused you to pen this particular poem.
