'one Day - Some Day'

If you can still hear the birds chirp You are privileged  If you can still utter words  Say what you think or feel  You are blessed Many people wish they could  Do those things  I could get out of bed this morning  I were honoured enough  To put one foot in front of the other  He saw it fit to give me air to breath Things I take for granted  Until I saw how others struggle to do just that  They long to walk  They long to hear  They long to take just one more breath  Without  constraints I can read my Bible  Others can read the Koran  I am blessed I am not targeted for my beliefs  I still have tolerance for others  The way they live their lives  Simple things  Others are attacked for  We humans  Forget  That all this can be taken away  One day  -  Some day  -  It will happen

Dear Wilma, your poem offers beautifully expressive potent insights. A gratitude filled piece and a reminder that the privilege of physical, emotional and religious freedom is a fragile thing not to be taken for granted. I enjoyed the deep thoughts of this exceptional poem. Congrats for it being featured on this week's home page. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

yes, it could all be taken away in an instant Think of those poor souls during the Nazi times, being chased from their homes and into concentration camps. It was horrifying. we have to appreciate all our blessings while we have them!!
