Oblivion - For Contest
OBLIVION
Diving into the waters of Lethe
searching for relief – release – from memory,
its hauntingly weighty presence
Dim light fading to welcome blackness
anger - downing in rage’s insanity,
suspended in the nether world of hate.
Ingesting the Ale of Acquiescence
seeking the solitude of satiation
denying the demons clutching grip
I sank – into the arms of sweet oblivion,
succumbed to Barleycorn’s panacea,
brief respite of conscious death.
