Nine Months

I am aware of changes; my body speaks with subtle voice. Months will pass with none perceiving, time to make a choice ... time ... and, then, one day you stir inside me, fragile wings brush my womb; suddenly, you are real and human, a tiny soul that will be heard. Still, selfishness says that there is time ... I can wait. I teeter on decision's peak while rich blood nourishes and you flourish beneath my breasts. In quiet moments, I whisper ... imagining a little face, falling in love while I wait, though the world I bring to you uncertain is. I waited. Now, you are here, lying upon my chest. Your life was my best choice. Copyright, January 24, 2016 Faye Lanham Gibson

This is so beautiful, Faye. The most wonderful 'waiting' in the world. Nicely done, and best wishes for the contest. Hugs, Sandra
