Night Fear
I can in my mind
Blank eyes I can find
In mist and steam of a ghost eye bright.
I fear from my youth
From my cap to my boots
The shadows and cold frights of deep in the night.
My ears hear no ring
No singer to sing
Behind each dark tree lurks pure strife.
My heart beats to fast
Should it be my last.
From whatever hides so deep in the night.
Cold shivers my spine
I am frozen in time
Vampires, demons, long fangs that bite.
I hurry my pace
Before they give chase.
These evils and devils which owns the dark night.
From fences dogs bark,
From streets where cars park.
I hurry my stride in fright without sight.
I arrive at my door
Safe I am once more.
And I laugh at myself for my unfounded fright.
