My Soul, No Other Can Own

My soul, no other can own Besides the One who made it; Lest my hopes be overthrown And cast into the bottomless pit! Though evil always in my eyes stare In disguise like one so innocent, Yet I'd never in my folly dare To have it any close to my tent. For what will it ever profit me If all the foolishness I enjoy today, Will tomorrow an anguish be As my life like coal, burns away. Hell, I cannot afford to taste; O my soul, seek it not in a haste!
