My Shield, My Spirit

Troubles cast my way are repelled, bouncing off a shield, a bubble, created to protect sanity and health. Resilient is this bubble, casting away strife and ill will, but it also isolates. Nothing comes in; nothing goes out. Emotions on overload, but still in control. Should a kind soul pierce this bubble, I would be both vulnerable and grateful. Loneliness gnaws at my spirit. Take a pin and burst this bubble, but only if you are prepared to offer comfort, accept conditions I cannot control. Surrounded by a bubble, living in peace and prepared to accept God’s will. This shield will not fail me. Will you?

I get this on a deeply personal level. After escaping an abusive relationship I thought I'd never trust another man. I met someone who seemed to good to be true, not just decent and sweet, but ... honourable, moral and compassionate. I had a BIG bubble. Took him quite a while to breach the shield. Thank goodness he did. Hubby is a keeper. Congrats on the win for this stunning poem. Cyndi

I love the twist you have taken with the bubble contest, and indeed, many of us need the comforting, place behind our bubble (shield). If we are , honest....we all hide behind them from time to time.

Carolyn: you are writing a lot of good poetry for these contests. Love the messages in them too like the two lines "Emotions on overload, but still in control"...now that's not an easy maneuver. Good luck in the BUBBLE contest my friend. CR

Love the concept of a bubble being your shield.. I sometimes believe that God use the things or persons we least expect just to bring comfort and assurance of His will and as guidance. Never lose sight of that, knowing that through it all He is with you always. Good luck for the contest my friend.. love wilma
