My Identity,My Heritage

I represent a culture so deep in history The history our ancestors passed on to our generation The foundation that lead to the greatest civilisation Which has open the eyes of many and de ears of hearers We stood so strong from the river Nile Bathe deep within its riches, sailed with great desire and landed as conquerors We fought side by side with the Nubians against the Assyrians Slaying giants and warriors from far and near with our proudly manufactured tools One thing that will never be taken from us is our pride n stool The pride of our glorious heritage, the stool of our graceful ancestors and our homeland Africa A home we lived in since ancient Solomon A place we find solace, peace, love and care and see the fruits of our labour yield each day A place we toil the land and get blessed with its harvest What a great joy and a pleasure to call myself an African child Africa runs deep thru my veins like hot spring steam Its water quenches my thirst, its food satisfy my hunger and its lovesoothes my soul and heals my wounds It gives me a sense of belonging, building a society together with my people what a joy to know our people have such big hearts, very hospitable, humble and unique in our own special way We make hospitality a grace that blesses people from all walks of life And we humble ourselves to kings and slaves of north and south, east and west Our ancestors handed to us something more precious than silver n gold And we cherish it with all our hearts, minds and souls Today we stand strong not minding what our oppressors say Nor think of what they accuse us for...we live on a free land with free minds We believe in our culture passed on to us for many centuries And we are delighted of it as it unravels itself each day to strengthen us and lead us on I am proud to be African And am blessed to be identified as an African child Africa our true identity!!!!

Kaakyire Welcome to Poetry soup, I hope you enjoy the community. Here, you will find friendly poets who enjoy supporting one another. I myself, enjoy reading and commenting those who want to be read. The only time I give constructive criticism is when a poet desires it. However, if for some reason the poem is not my field I will guide you to someone who is more qualified than I. Stop by and read one of my poems if you like. My poems are not perfect, but I have a feeling you might like one. I encourage you to check out the contest page and read to receive comments. Tell me a little about your poetic skills if you like. It will be my pleasure to follow and read every poem you post from here on :) We are Lucky To Have you. Your New Poet Friend @-> LINDA <-@
