Middle Earth, Once Again
A dull and dreary day
here in the metropolis
Dark clouds above and a
chill in the air
What to do to break the monotony?
Time to visit Meddle Earth once
more
The novels are on my bookshelf
waiting to be opened
Inside them are singing elves
and crafty dwarves
Dragons and wizards
Fierce goblins and brave men
As I turn the pages of
the beloved tales
I return to a land I once knew -
a land we all know
Terrors and beauties abound there
We can visit at your leisure
for we have been given the
gift
of being able to travel
to other realms
The land of Faerie is not
just for babes and sucklings
That realm draws all of us
into its orbit
For we can sing
Even as the rain falls
We can laugh - even though clouds block the sun
Our sense of wonder
turns lead into gold
As Tolkien's alchemy
transports us to
Middle Earth
And brings us closer
to joy everlasting
