Love Without Hope

"That Hopeless Slope" Without her love, he simply could not cope. Dejected, inside his room, he’d sit and mope. He let himself go further down that hopeless slope. Later he was found dangling from a rope. Written March 27, 2016 for the "Love Without Hope" Poetry Contest of Sara Kendrick

Congrats on your high placement, Andrea! I noticed a variety of different moods when reading through these entries ... ranging from the dark and the dreary to the subtle and the cautionary. Yours expressed the deadly, deadly consequences of love without hope ....... suicide! A reminder that little nudges, love-yous, and acts of kindness, go a long way.

I found the "-ope" rhymes sounded rather jovial, so when I came to the suicide line it caught me off-guard. Drastic measures when deprived of love ... very dark.
