Keep Your Coins, I Want Change
I wanted to wake the world from its slumber.
To make it see it lived in its nightmares
not the dreams it thought.
The reality waiting behind those closed eyelids.
The wars,
the poverty
the anger and fear
but the corrupt sing their lies
disguised inside their lullabies.
Somehow they comforted us to sleep, and keep sleeping
I wanted to wake the world from its induced coma,
ignorance is not bliss forever.
"Wake up" I sang, but their ears were deaf
they would not wake.
Had they died?
Had we all waited
much too long
and done permanent damage?
I passed a bum on the corner
he met my gaze and held up his sign
I read "Keep your coins, I want change."
Wake up.
