Into the Night
Far into the night
Where my thoughts go round again
Round empty city streets
How can I keep wandering?
Far below the bridge now
As the water drips on me
Sick and tired of thinking
If I will be well again
I want some light to shine
On this overwhelmed mind!
Take it all away
This city is so bare
Oh where have you gone?
Simple things so far
I long for a shore to rest upon
Long for oceans to drift me on
Basking in the darkness
Stuck like gum against the arch
Streetlights laughing and flickering off
Empty as they're whole
Pull me underground with you
Lift up this wreck
Throw me in the forests
Where exposure is okay
I want to run
I want to hide
But there is no more road
There is no more life
Wherever I go
I feel so cold
Wherever I flee
I am dragged back
Far into the night
Where streetlights flicker back on
No one is looking on
We are animals in our mind
Why am I still wandering?
Tell me, why have I steered
So far from home?
Where the dead end is my friend
