If Found Please Return
Where will they find me?
Depends on who’s looking - and why?
Sitting alone on the curb stone
spitting at the mailbox
August sun scorching the asphalt
a city kid dreaming of beaches
Gazing out September’s windows
as the teacher drones on…and on….
Marching in the cadence of starched uniforms
youthful adult - growing old
Listening to the Jukebox in a “Gin Mill”
soaking the sorrows before noon
Chasing the children barefoot
surf salted sandwiches for all
Raising the hands of triumph
easing the pain of loss
Holding the children’s children
old hands renewing hope
Sitting alone on curb stone
spitting at the past
