I Have Been More Than Once, Never More Or Less Than Me -

Bricks from blood, bricks from the flood of Earth's mud, bricks of clay, turf bricks, stone bricks, flesh bricks, all shaped, treated and wrought in the furnace of Will, texture of brick varies by material & method like animal behavior projected to achieve certain results, sometimes bricks are smooth or polished or rough & pocked, I have cracked bricks, large and small ones, red & brown, white, black & beige ones, some keep strong for eons, some flake or crumble from weathering or ineptitude some bricks I replace, some I repair or salvage as birds reconstruct nests ravaged by the tumult of atmosphere, these bricks have personality, vitality, loyalty, my bricks do not always withstand Life's bombardments but they do serve their purposes, I will survive where Jerhico, Constantinople, Berlin & Hiroshima ashed, hut & hovel I have been, pyramid & palace too, a bakery, butcher's shop, and Baron's bastion, a bunker and a boarding school, always it is me, a shelter of creativity - J.A.B.

I live in a Hindu village and reincarnation is taken for granted. A manku(local priest) visits every new born and tells the parents who they are a reincarnation of..usually a family member. Val and I live here mainly because of the people and there strong spiritual beliefs. I take it you are aware of your previous incarnations..and presume one of them was a Roman soldier that you wrote of.

Continued...I have had Past Life Readings done, although I I have not done Past Life Regressions which is very tempting. I have been in existense for a very long time. The Transmigration of the soul is an amazing process my friend. I appreciate your poetry, courage, and curiosity. J.A.B.

Hindu culture is fascinating to me Craig. Incidentally I would love to kayak down the Ganges River. The ancient scripts of the Vedas, Ramayana, and Mahabharata are worthy of diligent study as well. I have studied Tibetan Buddism, and have a great translation of the Bardo Thadol. Brahmins, Ascetics and Yogis have amazing traditions, and Hindu woman has exquisite style. I think its neat you are living in such a mystical territory.

ahhhh, I see you are embracing honesty, truth, sanguinity, faith and encouragement as you allude to reincarnation here with the symbol of the bricks. .. . (did I blow your mind just now quoting what you said below here to friend Mikki?) heehee. anyway, I was thrilled to read what you said to her because when I went back and read your poem with the reincarnation thing in mind, I TOTALLY got it. And it rocks!

You are a fascinating enigma Justin, reading your poetry challenges the mind to go outside the norm. The trip takes me to places that defy description. The idea of bricks describing such a large part of life is truly creative. Bravo my friend and thanks for your visit, always brings a smile!

A title that denotes humbleness and modesty. These bricks can withstand the elements of nature (emotion); show no humility though are not pompous. "a shelter of creativity" at times a bridge for others to cross over, a fortress to find shelter. Ancient and mysterious as the pyrimids, fundamentally sound. This breaks the dam of creativity and floods the imagination, Justin. I may have missed out on the real meaning? Love and respect, Mikki

Thanks Mikki for the poetic response! I believe in reincarnation my friend, and this is what the poem, the bricks allude to - I am very familiar with humility & humbleness, but I am more inclined to embracing honesty, truth, sanguinity, faith and encouragement - thank again for your astuity - J.A.B.
