I Am Human, Are You

I am Human, Are You? When I look back and try to remember where I came from, When I stumble over where I am going, When I tumble and fight to catch my balance, I realize what I am seeking, I find myself looking through the looking glass at me. Who am I? Am I who I want to be? Am I who you want me to be? All these questions are answered in a series of minutes that compile the sum of our lives. We are the persons we want to be, yet we are the persons others hope we will be, sometimes. When did I decide to become an assertive person speaking my mind and sharing my thoughts asked or unasked? When did I become opinionated yet understated? I am a person of many dimensions and would have it no other way! Within myself I am caring, sharing, loving, demanding, embracing and manipulating. I am a child of my parents and over the years have become both a parent and grandparent. I have come to understand the fullness of relationships with people who think like and unlike me. I am a diversity of culture and an accepting participant in this world, which needs tolerance. I am loving with the lovable and the unlovable. I am also party to the hatred of people who hate for reasons unknown. I have been recipient and giver of cutting, acid words that touch the bone! I am Human, Are You? By Joyce Cheeves-Whitney

Thank you, it filled a need at the time. I wrote it several years ago.
